IIRC, there was no suggestion from the fledgling Trust that there was to be any such a vote as such - on the night at O'Connors it was thrown open to the floor and it was then voted for nearly unanimously (there was one abstention and his pramatic and sensible answer as to why he couldn't vote was absolutely understandable).
Whilst it is sort of straying off the original point of the topic, I wondered that night whether there would even be a TUFC that was a professional club - it under 2 1/2 years ago and it is unbelievable the progress that has been made as it has. It's one of those things that I never get tired of reading!
Those that put their head above the trenches to start the ball rolling shouldn't be forgotten. Hopefully Jon's comment regarding the Trust subscriptions should be noted - fantastic work from very dedicated supporters. I might suggest that the facility to sign-up and pay in the ground is publicised to give people the opportunity to sign-up / renew?
As it has been suggested, the whole roberts "era" (or should that be "error"?) should always serve as a warning from the past as we move forward through much better times. However, like those that backed roberts, I give those that were critical of Bucks the benefit of doubt as we look forward to a summer of stability ahead of our return to the football league.
With regards to the critisism of Bucks back in August, I think that is just water under the bridge. The other evening I went back to the beginning of the forum and read through a few of the threads and I think under the circumstances, there was for the most part very reasoned debate and not as much vitriol towards Bucks as I recalled. Perhaps I was getting it mixed-up with a different website??!!

The aim of the "vote" (there was no vote) of no confidence There most certainly was a vote! The "Gang of 4" could not speak for anyone other than themselves, but they could and did call for an open debate and a vote. My apologies for poor wording Jon..................the point I was trying to put over was that there was no vote amongst the "four". I take Alpine Joe's criticism of the events on board, but the strategy was to isolate the man from his backers, because without that there would have been no departure within the timescale desired. Surely that was more important than satisfying the individual feelings of certain supporters who wanted to get their pound of flesh by seeing the man squirm before their very eyes. The setting up of the Trust and the removal of Roberts together with the end of the Bateson Dynasty have been huge and significant moments in the rebuilding of OUR football club and the question has been made on more than a few occasions asking whether or not Mike Bateson had a hidden agenda when "selling" to Roberts....................well the person who really knows whether or not that is so is Mike Bateson himself but the silence of the "Bateson Camp" has been truly deafening since that humiliating and farcical day when (not for the first time) they manipulated his ridiculous puppet Algernon Rosenior * into his ten minute reign as our "new manager", so we will never know. As the regime responsible for us losing our long held Football League status they haven't even had the good grace or decency to congratulate the current regime.........................the only one of them to utter a public word was Leroy himself whilst employed by Setanta! * Someone told me it was actually the real Leroy who allowed himself to be so ludicrously paraded that day, but I refuse to believe that the man would stoop so low as to allow himself to be used as a patsy once again by the hideous family from Coffinswell ~ it just had to be another Bateson puppet!

I find it curious that we have never heard a word from Mike Bateson since his departure. Remember we even had a word from Chris Roberts, of all people, quoting a few lines in the Herald Express at the end of last season. But no word from ol' Mike.
My own take is that Bateson was never really a football person and probably has little interest what's now going on at our football club. He's probably more interested in his vegetable patch on his farm. He was a successful local businessman who initally had good intentions of helping the club out. The trouble was that he got stuck with the club for far too long, and we got stuck with him for far too long. An unhappy marriage that's thankfully now in the past. I bet he's just as relieved as us. Btw, I wonder what Richard Hancox is up to these days ?

Correct me if I'm wrong Dave, but wasn't one of these stories about the Gang of Four and TUST's opposition to the bloke? Only toward the end and not in the beginning, as at that time some of the gang of four were still supporting him and trying to rubbish the people of Torbay That's not how I recall it, Dave. In fact it was something a number of fans saw as premature and rash and predated Herald exclusives. On balance though, I'm mostly with witney. Season ticket ordered; household matters enabling a new DD to TUST to get sorted; The good times are back. Up the Football League we go.

I wonder what Richard Hancox is up to these days ? I'd heard he got himself arrested during a stadium tour of Spotland for running on the pitch and making obscene gestures whilst impersonating a professional footballer!

I wonder what Richard Hancox is up to these days ? From Friday's Herald Express: LIAM Talbot hit a match-winning 41 as holders Paignton eased into the Brockman Cup semi-finals with a five-wicket win over Kingskerswell.
Former Torquay United soccer player Richard Hancox hit 44 – and there were 44 extras – in Kerswell's total of 108 for seven.
Paignton cruised to victory with more than two overs to spare.
Also through are Dartington and Totnes, who enjoyed a seven-wicket romp over Chelston, led by Mark Andrews with 32 in a winning total of 92 for three.
Shaldon Optimists scraped through by one run against Brixham in their delayed first round tie.
Shaldon Optimists 113-7 (A Dowsing 32, A Woolnough 20; R Dallow 2-11,C Barron 2-15), Brixham 112-7 (C Sleep 32; C Woolnough 3-17, N Johns 2-33). Shaldon Optimists bt Brixham by one run.
Kingskerswell 108-7 (R Hancox 44, Extras 44; N Collings 3-22, J Fitton 2-13), Paignton 113-5 (L Talbot 41). Paignton bt Kerswell by 5wkts.

I'm pleased that he's referred as "former Torquay United player" and not "former Torquay United star". Now that would have been pushing it a bit. It's funny whenever I think of Richard Hancox, I still think of all those long rants by Steven Badcott on another forum. Those were the days ...
