With the news that Poke Is now back In light training, I would not expect It to be to long, before he will be able to play again. As we know Poke In only on loan to the end Of the season and we could lose him In January, If a club put In an Offer for him.
Bevan has been here for a month and we have not lost a game since he went In goal for us. His loan as been extended by another month, but this has a 24 hour recall clause In It. I would expect Poke to be fit by the time Bevan gets to the end Of his second month on loan to us.
Lets say the Shrews offer Bevan for the rest Of the season but the club can only afford to have Poke Or Bevan, but not both. Who would you prefer to keep? what are they good at and what are their failings?

I rate both of them highly and it would be difficult to pick one over the other.
Bevan has generally been very good since he's been here, but it must be said that the defence has played excellently in front of him and he hasn't really been tested that much in all honesty. Given his size, he commands his penalty area very well and gives the defence in front of him a lot of confidence. That said, I thought he had his worst game for us on Saturday as he messed up a couple of punched clearances, which could have cost us.
Poke has always been very good and I would struggle to remember a time when he has been at fault for a goal we have let in, this season or last.
I would probably take Poke over Bevan (just!) - but if either of them became available for a permanent transfer, rather than a loan arrangement, then that would be my preference, and perhaps there is more chance of that happening with Bevan rather than Poke?

I agree that both are excellent keepers at our level. If both were to become available, I would suggest that with little to choose between them then finances would play a big part. Michael Poke is starting out in a career that will almost certainly see him playing at a higher level, whilst Bevan has had his best years and would therefore have a cheaper transfer value.

as already stated both are very good keepers at this level, from my point of view which one are torquay more likely to sign ,they are both down the pecking order at their respective clubs ,but i heard from poke himself that he was subject to loan offers from league clubs some league 1 ,i would imagine some will come back for him and unless torquay are stick on for promotion can not see him signing for us ,shrewsbury have put a 24 hr recall on bevan so it appears they do not want him tied to us so maybe he wont be availible either ,i think their is more chance of signing bevan long term so would go for him

We've got two hopes of signing either of these two - No hope and Bob Hope.
Bevan made himself the Shrews #1 at the end of last season before his summer knee surgery. At the moment they have a loan keeper, Glyn Garner and a promising youth keeper. When the loanee leaves they will want a fit Bevan to challenge for the #1 jersey. That's the only reason he's with us. If he did leave he would head for another midlands team rather than uproot to the Riviera.
Poke is at the start of his (promising) career and if he couldn't force himself into the Southampton reckoning he would go to a League 1 or 2 club to make himself a name as a #1. Maybe if we got promoted he would consider us but we just wouldn't be able to afford him. Soton will want some kind of fee for the work they've put into him and he'll not want a drop from his current salary.
Which leaves us with the problem we've had since relegation...
But OK, if it's a fantasy wish-list; I would go for Poke for his age and sell-on value.

I see that Poke is due to return at the start of next week and my view is still that Bevan should keep his place in the side, until his loan ends.
He has let in very few goals and has played his part in our good run of results. Not sure Poke will just want to sit on the bench, but I do think Bevan will go back at the end of his second months loan.
I'm sure Poke will be able to play his part in helping the team to get promotion, just so glad we were able to get Bevan in when we did. No disrespect to Rice, but I do not think we would have been on this run, if we had got him back from Truro and he had played the last 10 games of so.

I liked Bevan and I would like to see him sign in the summer or January but I also like Poke and when he dose come back I think that Bevan will go back to Shrewsbury.
Both will have played important roles in the team and hopefully when Poke returns and if Bevan goes back Poke will continue the run were on which I`m sure he will.
How is Rice doing at Truro?

Ant went up to Tiverton to watch them play against Truro, he felt Rice had not improved and had made many mistakes during the game.
I really don't think we will see him back at our club and would expect him to sign for Truro at the end of this season.

It's probably not an option, but I would love to see Bevan come here permanently. I was standing in line with him on the Pop Side as he came to claim a corner - the way he towered over everyone else was freaky! He is remarkably agile and I think that he inspires confidence in the players around him. He is sometimes prone to punching whhen it might seem a better option to catch or stay on the goal-line - but then that is easy to say from the safety of the terracing! Even if that observation is valid, for a player of this level he is vertainly the "real deal" and clearly capable of playing above it.
I'm concerned that we get into the situation that Bevan goes back and Poke get injured - we're back to square one. I would be quite happy to see Poke get a good run and then an offer which he takes at a higher level and Bevan returns on longer-term basis. However, as we all know - it never seems to work-out that way!

Well unless TUFC manage to negotiate a further months loan for Scott Bevan then tonight will represent his last home appearance for us and the Woking game on Saturday will be his final game.
I believe his loan is due to end on the 25th November and so he won't be available for the following weekend - the 2nd Round FA Cup tie against Dorchester or Oxford.
It's interesting, and very convenient, to read that Michael Poke is expected back at the club next week, as that would coincide with Scott Bevan's departure. It does however still present us with something of a problem with regard to the FA Cup tie as the last I heard Poke was not being allowed to become cup tied by Southampton. We can only hope that United have managed to get their permission for him to play in the FA Cup game - otherwise we are faced with the same dilemma as we were in the 1st Round - wondering whether we will have to recall Martin Rice.
Like others have said, I would really like to see Scott Bevan signed on a permanent basis, as he really seems to have fitted in at the club and of course, has played no small part in our fantastic unbeaten run. Whether that might happen will I suppose depend on what sort of future he may, or may not, have at Shrewsbury and what sort of fee they may want for him. Not only that, Bevan himself has said he would prefer to stay in the League, but given our lofty position, perhaps he can be persuaded to stay?
Either way, I shall be giving him a loud cheer tonight, in case it's the last we see of him at Plainmoor - although personally I am hoping to see him at Woking too on Saturday!

I've good reason to believe that Michael Poke has signed for us at last. This is a really significant achievement by the manager who has pursued him for such a long time, and will also mean that tonight's appearance v Lewes will be Scott Bevan's farewell to Plainmoor although he will probably see out his loan at Woking on Saturday. I think he has been absolutely brilliant for us, way beyond anything we were entitled to expect and in all honesty; given the current situation at Shrewsbury and their goalkeeping "problems" I doubt he would have been available for a permanent transfer anyway. I'm sure you would all join me in saying "Thank you Big Man, you have been incredible! "
