I've good reason to believe that Michael Poke has signed for us at last. For what it's worth at what seems might be a time of bad news, I didn't claim to know or have been told anything; I posted that I "had good reason to believe"Stuart has alluded to his posting under the influence of too much red wine before, so I will take his rather eager and excitable attempt to discredit me as not only yet another tiresome example of someone being incapable of reading accurately what is clearly put before them in black and white; but also giving me good reason to believe he may yet again be drunk in charge of a keyboard.Reading Ealinggull's post and then The Captain's Blog this morning also gives me and several others good reason to believe the press conference may reveal something unpleasant and disturbing, it doesn't give Stuart any more reason to produce another example of his attention definciency and subsequent ignorant behaviour than my post did. Drink yourself stupid * by all means Stuart, but don't post examples of it on here for all to see! * in my belief.

You have very valid and valued contributions but have a terrible habit of trying to pick on people or worm out of things that you have said or implied. Others have departed vowing never to post again because of your bullying but i am made of tougher stuff.

It's not picking on people, it's picking up on distortion of what has actually been put down in black and white and can be seen by all. It's not worming out of anything, it's questioning whether the accused can prove I have posted something I clearly have not. YOU can imply I posted something or am under the illusion of something but you cannot PROVE it as it is merely your opinion NOT fact. In my opinion you implied I KNEW something when in fact I posted that I BELIEVED something.....................I can prove what I posted and merely did so. That is not bullying. * Those that throw such hissy fits usually return within a short time. It's neither my intention nor my wish that such people throw their toys out of the pram, but debate is like boxing................don't take part if you can't ride the punches!

Merse, you are indeed clever with your words. you always put it in such a way that if it turns out to be true, you can then tell everyone that you were right all along BUT it is also put in such a way that if it doesn't turn out that way, then you never said it in the first place Weasel words, sir.

Merse, you are indeed clever with your words. Appreciating the difference between believing and knowing is not clever, it is a basic requirement when debating. People can be quite sincere when believing something that subsequently turns out to be quite untrue. There were those who believed the earth to be flat who were quite sincere in their belief although they were subsequently proved to be wrong. They were not using weasel words when they stated their belief! Far more dangerous are those who don't appreciate the difference. People like YOU who confuse believing with knowing. Or are you now going to come back and claim you do know the difference but are in the belief that you know what I post is something I claim to know even though I categorically did not state that?

As much as I rate Poke, I think Bevan's performances have even exceeded Poke's. Being 6'6'' Beven makes full use of his reach, and at full stretch has saved many "impossible" shots e.g. the tip onto the bar against Oxford, the tip-over against Evesham, even his long legs came to the rescue against York in tackling their forward clean through.
I am adamant without him our recent run would not have been so good, he has made so many vital saves at vital times. Apart from the odd dodgy punch here and there he has been phenomenal. Poke needs to be at his best to maintain the present goalkeeping standard. I just hope he's fully fit and raring to go, then hopefully we can maintain our excellent run. I'll be sorry to see Bevan go though.

Totally agree SwanGull. Bevans height gives him a big advantage over Poke/Rice/everybody else, and he uses it the best way he can. He's a great, calm goalie to have, and would love to see him sign permanently - even more than I'd like to see Poke sign!

The January window is coming up shortly.
Southampton aren't exactly setting the Championship alight; in fact they are looking at being religated.
Shrewsbury on the other hand aren't doing that bad a league below.
Which means?
Alright i'll tell you!
Pokes team look like dropping...not good for him!
Beavens team look like going up...not good for him!
So who is it good for? Paul Buckle , that's who.
In January, I guarantee, that one of them will sign!!!

weathergull, he who sits up high, seems to think a deal may already be done for Poke and will be completed in January.
I do have to agree with most views on here and that I would prefer to keep Bevan. The results from now on will be a true indicator, of who really is the best out of the two of them.
Bevan has made saves that a smaller keeper would have let in, to be fair to Poke, I have seem many games lately where Bevan has had very little to do, lets hope Pokes finds himself in the same position.

There you go again!! saying but not saying!! "People like YOU" suggesting a direct comment at me but easily defended by your good self because you stated people LIKE you. Accusing but not accusing, attacking but not attacking. Prove it nah nah!! how childish!! Say what you mean, instead of hiding behind innuendo

Really don't mind which one of the two we end up with. But something needs to be sorted asap if Poke is not yet fit.

Interesting to note that Shrewsbury have signed another keeper on loan today for a month ( Gilkes from Blackpool) as notified by BBC ceefax It seems they would be happy for Bevan to stay longer, but Poke is reported to be coming back on Monday, I can't see us keeping both keepers on loan, due mainly to our poor gates of late.
