I think I am right in saying that we are only allowed 5 loan players out of the entire 18 players in the matchday squad. So even if Poke is on the subs bench he would count as one of the 5 loan players we can use ? If this is true again it emphasises we have been too reliant on loan players to bail us out and not signing enough of our own, or getting rid of them too soon ! I think you're right too, swangull, I didn't think of that. The only answer would probably be to have a youth keeper on the bench. Not a credible proposition in our current circumstances.

The six loanees point is moot at least until Rendell recovers from his broken arm. Unless we sign another couple tomorrow of course - then you really couldn't make it up!!

True...although I don't share your frustration with the loanee situation. We seem to have done alright out of the loan system from my point of view, paperwork technicalities notwithstanding.

Made my first trip to the theatre of nightmares this season with some foreboding and so it turned out to be but it so shouldn't have ! Having read all the Burton reports of what was obviously a dire performance from start to finish I was pretty happy with how we played Saturday and it was hardly the manager's fault that we lost. With the players at his disposal he put out a team that outplayed (admittedly a really poor, demoralised-looking) Bradford for most of the game. Bucks can't put the ball in the net, his players should have done that. I am a big admirer of Wroe's footballing brain but I couldn't believe he got MoTM. For me Benyon was excellent, especially in the first hour or so, when he was a real handful and gave them all sorts of problems. I thought Charnock had a great game at CB and, with Robbo and Ellis I was surprised by the Branston signing as I don't think that area was a priority - it certainly isn't now, with Sills gone and Rendell injured. I didn't need Saturday to tell me we are in a relegation scrap and this should kill off all the silly 'play-offs' talk ! Anyway, I made it back to the frozen wastes of Lancashire and will head back down the M6 to Crewe on Tuesday - if it's thawed out by then, that is.

Oh and a note on Scott Rendell... how he's supposed to come back after four weeks is beyond me. Dont quote me but I think he is having it pinned. My experience of pinning a fracture was less than 4 weeks from a full break of upper arm till going surfing again

Do you know Dave, I am utterly fed up with that pompous prick Merse. Benyon was by far the best of our players on Saturday. His was a wonderful shot on target that their goalie just managed to get his fingertips to. It doesn't matter what anyone else thinks on this forum, Merse always knows best, even when he wasn't at the game.

No doubt your personal abuse will be ignored, but you're yet again illustrating your total inability to read a post properly........................I did not comment on Benyon's performance on Saturday I stated that whenever I see him and Stevens are due to start together I have no confidence in the outcome. I stated that in the match reports both he and Stevens were the players who lost possession leading to the two goals conceded. Do you dispute that? Is that reason to call me pompous....................can you even read this post or do you have to have someone read it to you? Is that clear enough for you? Note that no personal abuse was used in the making of this post Cue you now running crying to Dave again that I have been nasty to you! ;D

atheringtongull, as I have said to you before when we have talked at Plainmoor you should not allow yourself to get wound up and merse just gave his views, not about how well Benyon played, only that he feared the result knowing both Benyon and Stevens were starting the game. If he reads this match thread again we will clearly see all those of us who were at the game felt Benyon had a very good game for us and its just a shame that Stevens had one of his poorest ones to date.

No doubt your personal abuse will be ignored, Ignored by who merse? ME, you are both older than me and both should know better and I can hardly take action over his remarks to you when you wrongly labeled him a racist when he clearly was not and never said you may have got it wrong. If you want a forum where I have to spend all day editing your posts, then so be it, the idea of self moderation is that you all do it yourself, lets stick to doing it that way and that means cutting out personal insults and then I can just be Dave the poster and fellow member that I crave to be. Many thanks Dave

You still throwing that old lady thingy around when I DID say what he had written could be construed as being racist...................come on then, drag it up again; and again fail to reproduce the words that both you and he reckon I used................and for the record, I haven't asked you to "take action"I could say a person with the name "Moss" could be construed as being a racing driver, but if I then added that their first name was in fact Kate; the person who construed that would be wrong would they not? Life will always be a struggle when people of different perceptions of life and their own understanding of what someone else has said get together won't it!

For what its worth, i was relieved the team played with a whole lot more conviction than the burton game and gave us all an exciting 70 mins or so!!!! sadly the rest of the game we decided to play in our own penalty box with the occasional thump downfield, THAT has to be addressed we did the same at bournmouth similar with burton etc etc we are not good enough to defend a one (or two) goal lead so the best form of defence is attack, our two centre backs and poke have no confidencwe in each other they wont pass back at all, and poke is unable to come off his line ( i think he gets homesick for the goal line) the uncertainty at the back is spreading through the team on sat smithy wouldnt pass back when it would of been the best move (in the event we had a keeper to come out) confidence at the back HAS to start with a sound commanding keeper, added to this problem is the lack of authority with either charnnock or robbo, both play better with ellis alongside as ellis does at least marshel the back four, without ellis mansels trying to do it all from the right (not ideal) Ive heard it said that ellis ball distribution is poor, but if he could add some resolve and organization to the defence so be it, the branston guy sounds a bit of a thug so if hes off the park the choices will be the same as now any way, well for now bring on the bevanator!!!!! i heard the old stand (OPP pop side) booing buckle at the end Who the hell woke them up?
