While we all knew that Barnet were a team also having a very poor time results wise, our performance, attitude and display that shouted out loudly we are playing for our manager and the pride of wearing the shirt was something fans needed to see and were not disappointed.
If we are 100% honest our two goal lead against Burton really was against the run of play and it was no real surprise we ended up losing the game. We have discussed all the possible reasons, put our own spin on things, but that game is well behind us and its now all on our next home game against Bradford.
Fans get it in their head that we should beat other teams experiencing a bad run of results WHY? That team will be trying as hard as they can to find a win again and therefore such games are never going to be easy or a forgone conclusion as regards who is going to win the match.
Bradford are another team suffering poor results and while they will be just as hard to beat as any other team in this league, you would hope all the positives from the Barnet game will be taken into this game by the players and Paul Buckle.
It would be great if managers spent some time explaining after a game why they played this or that player, or why one player was on the wing when he is better upfront, maybe if they did then we would understand the real thinking behind the managers decisions, but then I suppose we would not have the fun debating what we felt the reasons were.
Its very very clear Bucks needs to start Zebs upfront and not out on the wing, that is where he works not only much harder, but where he is far more effective. I wonder if Bucks will be brave enough to start Cox at left back and Smith as right back? Reading reports on here it sounds as we may have a real gem in young Cox and if has to offer what it sounded like he did at Barnet, then I would be starting him against Bradford.
If your going to the game lets hear you cheering, no booing or shouting out insults to our players if they play a poor pass or make a mistake, lets be the 12th man who so often really makes the difference and will help send Bradford back home empty handed.

agree with all you said dave,i reckoned on burton turning us over and drawing 1-1 with barnet,i reckon another draw here, obviously not what we need, but from the wreckage of the last week or so,a step in the right direction.Another team to play who are out of form, which goes out the window when we play anyone

I do hope, in this new broom of change, that Bucks starts with the two Spurs lads at full back.
Thompson had a goodish game last night, but if there is any doubt that he can't reproduce it at home, the only role I particularly would wish to see Mansell in, barring late additions in the window, would be as Captain in the centre of midfield. Wroe is a very quiet captain. But might that upset Wroe? Probably. Not an easy one, and my guess would be that Wroe is skipper unless a worthy new signing is made.
As for up front. Zebroski and Rendell. With Benyon on the bench, please. I understand that our other wingers don't provide as good cover for the full backs as Zebroski, but I don't care and want three points and ideally a recovered Carlisle and Thomson. If Carlisle is injured and Thomson no longer with us, then it's O'Kane and Stevens. Mansell can be cover for the place on the right if not selected in the middle.
I predict a 3-2 win.

If Carlisle doesn't make it I'd like to see Bucks try Adam Smith in the right midfield/wing position with Mansell at right back. He'd certainly provide decent protection and I believe he is more than capable going forward.

Interesting solutions to our potential current dearth of wingers.
For all the comments about his lack of pace, lack of this, lack of that, I feel that, in the absence of Kevin Nicholson, his ability to put corner kicks, free kicks and throw ins into dangerous areas is seriously missed.
If Carlisle is still injured and Thomson departed, then we have only one genuine winger left at the moment, Danny Stevens. Why not play Nicholson on the left wing, encourage him to cover Adam Smith but also get further forward when we attack, and still have the benefit of his accuracy from set pieces and crosses in open play ?
I await calls of derision, but believe that it would be worth a shot in the short term, to see how it works.

With the problem we have with the amount of loan players who can be in the team for this match and going with Merse’s suggestion. This is the team I put start with tomorrow.
I have gone with Bevan in goal and mostly because I feel Poke has not been at his best in the last few games, I’m sure Scott must be fully fit now and over his injury and the only problem would be we would not have a backup keeper on the bench, so Bucks may well keep Poke on goal for that reason
Bevan
Smith Charnock Branston Cox
Carlisle Mansell Wroe Thomson
Rendell Zebroski

Neither Thompson or Branston can play tomorrow Dave as paperwork not submitted in time for it to be cleared. I would like to see Ellis ans Stevens thus allowing Zebs to play up front and not on the wing.

A quick game of guess the line-up eh? It's tricky with all the loanees. I thought Thomson was fairly ineffective at Barnet and ThomPson was poor when given space in the main. I also see Stephens as an impact player. I want to see Mansell back in the middle fighting the cause like a spritely Hargreaves so:
Rendell Zebs
Stephens Wroe Mansell Carlisle
Cox Charnock Robertson Smith
Poke
Apart from the defence that's a relatively experienced line-up. Perhaps Mr Carayol might make a cameo tomorrow? He seems to be forgotten about but he was on the bench in North London on Tuesday.......

Lee Mansell for captain. The man wears his heart on his sleave and is vocal enough for the role. Play him centre midfield to add some bite next to Wroe. Cox left back, Smith right back with Charnock and either Robertson/Ellis in the middle. Carlisle and Thompson out wide with Rendell and Zebroski upfront. subs from Poke, Tyrone, Benyon, Stevens, Ellis/Robertson, Muzzy, Nico with Branston going back to Burton as he's a liability. Oh Bevan between the sticks !! WHAT WERE YOU THINKING MR BUCKLE ??

All that matters is points. The sooner we can get to the safety of 50 the better. I don't care how they do it just win today. The games remaining clock is counting down. The number of games where we should get a result are getting fewer so we need to win this one.
We need 24 points from 20 games. Which means we have to improve on our current ratio, starting today. This is the blunt reality of it.

The Bay has a light covering of snow and I expect it should clear as the morning goes on, but it does look very cold and the pitch could possible we frozen. Not feeling much better myself so at this time I'm not to sure if I can make the game or not, I think the last time I missed a home match we won, I can hear you all now shouting stay in bed Dave its the best place for you How much will we miss Thomson? Danny has looked very good when he has come off the bench lately and I'm sure if he started the game he would do a first class job and Bucks really should just start Danny and put Zeb's up front, but I suppose that may depend on if Carlisle is fit to start the game. Only three points will do and anything less will see fans growing even more concerned about our league status.
