Might as well start this match thread as you never know things may improve weather wise and the game might go ahead. Losing our last two games( one cup and one league) we really need to try and get something out of this game as we don't want to start going on another losing run as we did a while back. The problem is that Chesterfield have a good home record, they have won nine, drawn one and lost only two, scoring 26 goals and letting in 13. So you would think a draw would be a good result for us and if we get that and a point we should be happy? All games are there to be won and you can be sure Bucks will send the team out to try and win this one and he will have a few key players back who will make the difference and can play a big part in us winning this game. Expect to see Zebs start with Rendell and Wroe back in the middle with Hargreaves who should be fine to play this game as he has had plenty of time to recover form the Brighton game. Will Ellis keep his place? you would think on how things have happened in the past when he played and won the man of the match award, that he will only make the bench and not the starting eleven. I hope he gets to start as he does fully deserve it in my view. He gets stuck in and wins most of his battles, just get him to play better balls out of defense and we have a star on our hands.

I think Robbo will start - we missed his long throws in the game against Brighton.

More snow there today. What with the temperature unlikely to reach 5 degrees C before Saturday I doubt this one'll go ahead.

still don't think it will go ahead I make you right Stuart sadly........one look at the BBC f'cast for Chesterfield shows that between now and Saturday the temp will be between mainly +1 and +3 at best during the day. With all that snow and ice and the surrounding areas to remain untreated..... We have 2 hopes........No and Bob

There is every chance this game will go ahead, all the snow was cleared of the pitch and stands etc today. The snow would have helped keep the ground temperature higher than if it had just been exposed to the frost. With the temperatures being above freezing the pitch will only improve and I'm hoping it does go ahead as we need a match to talk about on here.

Nice local game for me and I can handle the 9am inspection (should just be getting up by then!!). Will be pleased to get the xmas present out for an airing (didnt know you could get a shirt with so many X's ;D) Think we all gotta pray that the rain doesnt continue. Anyway if anybody needs any help in the East Midlands tomorrow just shout/email. Finally if the worst did happen tomorrow for anyone that wants to see a game Forest/Reading are doing "kids for a quid/cheapie"........I only found this out because WigstonGull has "stood me up" and taking his 10 kids out for a cheap day ;D Safe travel all..and good weekend to the rest

At least this match looks like going ahead and with a few mid week games coming up, things should start to happen thick and fast!
A lot of water under the bridge since our first league game this season with Bevan, Nicholson, Todd, Stevens and Sills probably making way for Poke, Smith, Charnock, Thomson and Zebroski. Of the former, only Bevan and Stevens had stand out games that day. In addition O'Kane could make his debut at some point in the game but if not, certainly in one of the six games during the next three weeks.
Despite recent departures, a bench with Bevan, Ellis, Stevens, O'Kane and Benyon or similar still looks pretty strong and I would expect us to be very competitive for this one.

Just phoned Chesterfield. Match is still on for the moment but they've had heavy rain overnight and its still chucking it down now which has resulted in standing water in some parts of the pitch (the frozen parts I'm guessing). Ref inspection at 12pm. Just considering if its worth the trip up the M1!
