Is there any difference between UKIP and the BNP. I have not seen any from the campaign literature. By the way, BNP deny climate change, DTG. If I voted with my natural leanings, Labour, it would be wasted in my constituency. So, as before, I won't. Rob, are you on drugs? Only an idiot would draw comparisons with the BNP. As for climate change only an idiot would deny that, it's changing naturally all the time. It's "man made" climate change that's in dispute.  In fairness the BNP leaflet I got refers only to "so called climate change", so maybe they are on drugs. However the Europe and Immigration items in the literature, the only other issues they sought to highlight, were identical between both parties. |

Whilst Wales wasn't swinging at all; which held no surprises there according to the presenter.

A day of some lunacy in the political world. First the UKIP leader's plane gets snagged in its own message and crashes. Then we have reports that BNP candidate for Dagenham attacks Asian Youths in the street. Direct politics. news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/election_2010/england/8663681.stmI haven't voted today. I didn't get myself organised enough to register at my new address. But even if I managed this I don't who I would've voted for anyway. Labour have made an almighty balls up over the last 5 years and have got very arrogant in the process. The Lib Dems stand to gain the most after Nick Clegg's TV appearances. But the Conservatives. I can't bear Cameron or that other toff George Osborne but might they tackle the debt better than labour? |

Well it wouldn't have been the first time a party has been brought down by it's own message and we know all about the ethos of the BNP don't we. Personally, how anyone who has even made a cursory study of Europe's discord and naked warfare over the past century could promote the message of UKIP and the BNP defies belief. Now that I am facing a long period of not working due to deteriorating health I can tell you that I myself could have changed the face of British politics in the past few months having driven Nick Clegg, Kenneth Clarke and George Osborne had I succombed to the attacks of drowsiness that have become more numurous these past few weeks. Certainly in my constituency, Labour have been working very very hard indeed to get their message accross ~ certainly a lot harder than the Tories who's one single attempt to woo the vote of Chez Merse was to put a miserable leaflet with a very off putting picture of David Cameron on the front and a typical obese City Fat Cat with a hyphenated name on the back.................either they took one look at our estate and wrote us off in favour of the "nobs" along the road, or they never learn anyway do they. Certainly the last major election in London was divided along class lines with the working class areas of the inner city backing Ken Livingstone for Mayor and the better off and the suburbs voting in that buffoon BoJo. I don't expect much different with this election and predict a hung parliament with Labour getting enough of a minority vote to claim their constitutional right and forge a deal with the Liberals and keep the Tories out. |

So we have a hung parliament, David Cameron says "Labour don't have a mandate to govern" but like all polititicians it's what they don't say that is more pertinent.................have you yet heard him add ".............but neither do we"? Will we get a formal coalition or a minority government? By the rules of the constitution the incumbent Prime Minister has to, have the opportunity to form a government, and only if he fails is he required to offer his resignation. Congratulations to Adrian Sanders for increasing his share of the vote and romping home for the Liberals in Torbay, likewise to my local MP Jeremy Corbyn in doing likewise for Labour in Islington North where the Tories Fat Con...........came a dismal third. Perhaps our "Proud Tory" in the Rhondda would care to expand on how his Tory candidate fared, did he turn up for the count? Did he hold on to his deposite?  So nobody wins, but who's the real loser? I'd say it's those who hate elections because we're going to have another one before Christmas.

An interesting election result to say the least...and plenty of agreeable outcomes: The election of a Green MP (been on the cards for a while, especially in Brighton), a comprehensive rejection of the BNP in East London, no real gains for the ludicrous UKIP (though the Speaker's seat, Buckingham, is still to decare), and good riddance to Jaqui Smith, Charles Clarke, Lembit Opik and Peter Robinson. So its either a minority Tory government, or a Labour/Lib Dem minority coalition government. I'd favour the latter option, with the promise of electoral reform swiftly followed by a general election once implemented. With more than 50% of the popular vote between them, such a coalition would surely have more of a mandate than Cameron's Conservatives who secured the support of little more than a third of the electorate. But I would find it equally amusing to see Cameron wrestle with the task of running the country (and implementing his 'emergency budget') with a minority government ;D  |

Well done to Adrian on his re-election. I was at school with him and he's a decent fellow. I wouldn't have voted for him that would have gone to our own Julien Parrot.
I see the gay tree huggers in Brighton have elected a loonie leftie Green candidate. The lunatics are definitely in charge of the asylum now.
Really pleased to see the back off that crooked piece of work Smith, i only wish Harman had gone with her.
You know, i think this might be a good election to lose. With the coming austerity measures, cutbacks and tax increases it's probably better to let the Tories and Lib Dems take the blame.
