According to .com we are receiving serious offers for our promotion winning side but won't reveal from who or for who.
Anyone want to guess?
The BSP clubs are spending heavily but will it all come to tears, especially when they lose the setanta money. rushden did it last year and then had to offload everyone by Christmas.
My guess is Wroe and Todd

Hopefully Brough is being targeted by Salisbury or FGR. I too, would be surprised if nobody has shown an interest in Green.
And what is this Benyon and Exeter rumour?? Been hearing it for months now.
Do you think we would sell Nicky Wroe if someone offered 75k?

Do you think we would sell Nicky Wroe if someone offered 75k? Perhaps to replace Gill? It's a big step up to League 1. Exeter seem to be doing what we did when we went up to League 1. I'd want a sell-on with Wroe, who I believe signed an extension to his contract with us during the Season. Plus Alex Russell.

I can only really see it being Robertson, Benyon or Green (the latter would surely require only a nominal fee).
Tisdale did offer Benyon a contract a couple of summers ago, fortunately for us he travelled the extra mileage down the A380. That is all in the past though, I know that Tisdale has been tracking a Dagenham striker for several months now and has recently also been interested in Ben Strevens from the same team. I can't imagine that Benyon would be high on his priority list - I doubt he'll be looking a further player of a similar ability to his current strikers with their upcoming season in League 1, I think he will want to "push-on".
£75k for Wroe? I would think that would represent a fair deal in the current footballing climate (as long as we get a sell-on), I can't imagine that there would be many clubs would be that interested in him that have that sort of money to splash around.

Todd to return to Swansea?

Tisdale won't be going to Swansea, Stuart. Put your money on Gary Speed!

Have to admit to feeling a little bit disappointed as what I see as unecessary "scaremongering" by the Official website. On the basis that they never seem to feel the need to report when we are trying to bring players in then why exactly do we need to know when there may be a possibilty (and that is all it is at this stage) of us losing a player or two? All they seem to have achieved is creating a mild "panic" amongst some supporters! What exactly is the point of that? In the last few weeks we seem to have heard nothing but negative stuff coming out of the club, with all the cutbacks and downbeat reports in the press, do we really need to know that we may be in danger of losing a couple of players? Tell us when it happens ... but not before! Personally I think it's bad PR on the part of the club. It would have been far better for Paul Buckle to have given us an insight into the sort of players he is (presumably) trying to bring in (but we haven't heard a thing!), rather than let us know about the prospects of players leaving the club! All the euphoria from the win at Wembley should be built upon and not chipped way at! Come on United, give us some POSITIVE news to fill these messageboards with, lets seize the moment!

....I think if Wroe was to be sold, then 75k would be nothing like the price......for a player aged just 23 that has just been voted the best CM in the BSP last year (according to the NLP) i would hazard a guess that double that would be more the figure.
From playing in the CCC as a youngster, Wroe lost his way a bit before he joined us but is now looking like fulfilling his early potential.
Being on Setanta so much last season has obviously put a few of our better lads in the shop window.....Wroe in particular, starred in many televised games, especially in the latter part of the season.

I wouldn't be worried - although I would have been if we had lost to Cambridge! Our summer may be more frugal than we could expect compared to a thriving economy, but watch the slash and burn cuts at our league rivals over the next few months. Our summer will be a picnic in comparison.
I think that having offers is an indication that we have been doing something right - we've had very few clubs come-in to take our players onwards and upwards (perhaps Ward?). I'm absolutely certain we will see some very capable arrivals this summer. I also don't think that there is any player that we can't afford to lose - obviously some would be more disappointing to lose than others but no-one that would leave a massive gap - only Sills, Nicholson and Hargreaves were more or less 95% starters last season and I can't see cash offers for them. We will have a stronger squad than we finished the season with - and given we've won promtion back to the league that is something to be very positive about.
Maybe Bucks is using the media to "ramp-up" values of players that seem set to go, maybe he is just being absolutely honest and there have been some bids. I'm sure whatever reason he has come-out with his statement is thought-through. Bucks clearly matured in his dealings with the press over the last last two seasons and I trust his judgement 100%.

I have thought for some time that the one area where we have not made any real progress is "PR".
I agree with Crispygull and hope that the Club address this issue a.s.a.p.

I'm sure whatever reason he has come-out with his statement is thought-through. Bucks clearly matured in his dealings with the press over the last last two seasons and I trust his judgement 100%. That's a far more realistic appraisal than moaning about "bad PR". Wroe had a contract extension around the time of Tim sills getting one and the beginnings of Steve Woods' disaffection coming to light and THAT would have been precisely because the club and the manager realise that the two players who DID get the extensions were the two with the most likelihood of attracting offers. Length of remaining time under contract equals transfer value and increasing the length enhances the value; simple isn't it? Surely no-one would be naive enough to imagine that we would achieve promotion without attracting interest and possibly offers for some of our players and for heaven's sake don't fall into the category of believing that players are anything other than professionals rather than fans and that they are bound by the realms of common sense and responsibility to themselves and families to seriously consider ANY offer that comes in for their services as being where one is wanted is more than half the trick of staying in the game to one's own benefit and on one's own prefered terms. An offer from another club need not be accepted by any player concerned but just might be the tool he needs to increase his own remuneration or length of security at his present employer. Exeter City DO look likely to be losing both Dean Moxey and Matt Gill and will obviously be in the market for replacements and have money with which to procure those replacements. Clubs such as ours and City will always be "selling clubs" rather than "buying clubs" ~ we all have to accept that FACT and when and if any player moves on it should be with our best wishes rather than any recriminations. No doubt, the manager has been doing his homework and establishing just how much of any projected incoming transfer money will be allocated to him to secure a replacement if anyone were to leave and added to that he will already have his target of a replacement in mind. Remember the old saying .............."just as one door closes another one opens"..

Not only we do now have to worry about whether we are getting any decent players in, but also whether any decent players are going to stay. I can only surmise that the information on the club website is akin to a Downing Street leak paving the way for an upcoming announcement. I would think that Nicky Wroe is our biggest asset and quite rightly was happy to move on upwards from York last year mid contract. At the end of the day however, one of Buckle's strongest suits seems to have been in recruitment and I trust him to get it right again this year. P.S. - JMGULL - always thought the CCC was the County Cricket Championship / Club - in which case Wroe really has lost his way ;D
