I have to say I`m startled and surprised by the reaction on this forum to recent events.
Sally - she has been well reported as saying she left of her own free will as she has a young child who she wants to spend time with.
As for the others who have gone we must trust and respect the board on the way they are handling the club. Have we not forgotten what they inherited and what they have achieved? Please give the board, CL & PB some respect and time.
As for comments by CL yes he has said we need 3-4 but all clubs should get a couple of new faces every season just to keep things fresh and keep the current players on their toes. We also have the added issue of playing in a higher league.
As for PB comments I think these have been misinterpreted. Personally I feel he was attempting to show Utd in a good light. other clubs and agents are now interested in Utd. Its been a few years since that has happened. we must trust him that he knows what he is doing with regards building a squad.
Don`t panic.
I hope these knee jerk reactions and frailty in faith are not a hint of what might happen if we do not get off to a good start.

...Totally agree Buster. Still the reaction on here is nothing, compared to the "other site" I believe that any exits on the playing side would be at an absolute minimum anyway, i reckon they'll still all sign. Robertson and Benyon....promising as they are, will be pretty easy to replace, if we had to. If someone is prepared to 6 figures for Wroe (with a sell on).....then we'd have to take it, think its very unlikely though, there are an abundance of decent players out there on "frees" so not many clubs are going to be looking to pay fees. Wouldn't want Sills to go though (at any price) Most if not all of our squad will be here next year, we'll bring in 3 or 4 new players......and comfortably make the play offs Chill out people.....positivity is needed.

I read PB's comments as his little glow of pride also. We keep hearing that he has a tight bunch of players and if so, they too would read this and think "hey, we're valued out there, great!". Perhaps I'm just Mr Pink of Fluffyland who's wagging his little tail and twinkling his tiny ickle nosey-wosey... Sorry, lost it a little there! Anyway, boys and girls, you won't get me dissing all the chatter - speculate away; it's fun!! It's not as though anyone would take us seriously... ...or would they??

There will always be clubs prepared to go further - witness Oxford United who have handed out three year deals to centre half Mark Creighton (Kidderminster) and goalkeeper Ryan Clarke (Northwich and ex TUFC trialist!). If you're going to compare us and Oxford United I would advise you to take note of the average gates of the two clubs. In my opinion to offer a cumbersome, pace challenged defender like Mark Creighton a three year deal is madness as he would be clearly out of his depth in League 1, so what happens to him if by some chance the club find themselves going up two years running? I'll tell you what will, happen they will end up paying him off just to get rid of him! ....................and as for Ryan Clarke...................three years beggars belief! Oxford United didn't even manage to register their players properly last season, I wouldn't hold them up as a paragon of how to run a professional football club.

I certainly wasn't doing that Merse, the point I was actually making was that no matter how little sense it may seem to make in the current economic climate there are still clubs out there who are willing to push the boat out, and unless the authorities can find a way of clamping down on it (doubtful) there always will be. We should also remeber that it was not so long ago that we were being lambasted in certain quarters (20 miles up the road to be precise) for dishing out three year contracts to Conference "journeymen". As for Oxford's gates, we know they are far more substantial than ours .... but then so is their debt mountain .. several million last I heard!

According to all the Oxford fans round here, they've got the 09/10 BSP title sewn up already!

Sally - she has been well reported as saying she left of her own free will as she has a young child who she wants to spend time with. buster I think buster its a case of me not getting the point of my post over properly, or you missing the points I was making in my post. The elements I put in where done only to try and show that recent events and also articles on .com, were in my view sending out the wrong message. I will just make one point about Sally, yes she said she gave up the job to spend time with her child, Alex said her leaving was a career move and I won't even bother to post on here all the other reasons some claim she left. Just because some do not go public with what has gone on, does not mean all you hear or get told is the whole story. As I said I was trying to get across the point that the club were in my view guilty of setting off alarm bells that might not need ringing and giving out very negative vibes. Surely it just needs to build on all the good will and good feelings everyone got from getting promoted, one post on here states the effects such negativity could have on sponsors etc. I do not feel me or anyone else is guilty of any knee jerk reactions, only guilty of showing concern that the club could score an own goal and risk not only future sponsorship, but winning back the fans who stayed away last season.
