I'm not sure how many more concessions i can make. If i thought it would have a negative effect, i wouldn't have questioned the decision Chris. I've since conceeded, [glow=yellow,2,300]the manager knows the players better than i do, and if he thinks it might, it's the right decision[/glow]. I'm not sure it would have been his decision alone? Would it? Do you not think there would have been other factors/people helping make the decision? Setanta for one.

No, that thought hadn't crossed my mind.

Bottom line is "It is a distraction" just as pressing your mobile phone against your ear and having a conversation whilst driving. Some still think that's irrelevant to. There will be enough knives out for Buckle in any case even if we do somehow scrape into the playoffs and anything that could be construed as an excuse for not performing has been quickly dispatched. The correct decision.

In addition to the potential distraction caused to the players, you also have to consider the disruption to pre match preparations.
The last thing you want as a manager/coach is players disapearing or people sticking their heads around the door. Every ounce of energy must be focused on the game that lies before them. Everything needs to be as normal as possible pre-match.
They can do their presentations at their end of season bash.
Don`t read too much into the decision, the club has said in previous seasons that it is a mistake to do presentations prior to key fixtures.

Fari enough mate. Enough people are of the same opinion to make me think i've misread the situation. As i've said, the right result is the most important thing about the day, and if this decision gives us an increased chance of getting one, it's all good.

Against Roy Mac's mentally fragile army, I believe.

Against Roy Mac's mentally fragile army, I believe. If they are that mentally fragile, one of us should sneak on and hand a small trophy to one of their players and shake his hand. That would destroy them.

How about handing them a special trophy to acknowledge their form of the late and their apparent desire to throw away the league? The 'Going for a ....' award. (Think about it...!)

Fonda please don`t think I`m having a go at you cause I`m not, I`m just mearly pointing out my observations, another observation is that I find everyone exept you accepts the descision about the presentation, that would in my mind get me asking myself the question " what can they see that I cannot? ", and yes your absolutely spot on about if everyone agreed it would definately be boring.

If we were mid table & tomorrows game was a bit of a nothing occasion then by all means make a bit more of an 'event' out of the POTY presentation. As it's a big game tomorrow I think it should be easily possible to tailor the presentation as to cause no harm to pre match preparations.
If it's won by a player taking part in the match then make the presentaion short & sweet, I'm sure the fans would understand its not the time for lengthy cermonies. After the pre match warm up at 2.30 pm or whenever.. the winning player could take an extra 30 seconds to accept the award as he leaves the pitch. The applause of the home fans ringing in his ears would surely boost his confidence as he then prepares for the game.
I can't see that would disrupt anything & as it is an award which reflects the supporters opinions there must be a way whereby the Plainmoor crowd can show their appreciation to the winner.
If the award is to Steve Woods then there's no problem at all. Present the trophy at a time when Buckle & his players are in the changing room. Again I'm sure the fans would quite readily understand that the circumstances of this 'last' match are a bit different than usual & that Bucks & his squad need to be together preparing, but the important aspect that an award which is primarily about the views of supporters is made in front of those very supporters is maintained & they can show their appreciation to the winner.
Should Woods win it might concentrate the minds of the Consortium & make them wonder why with all the resources lavished on Buckle we are struggling to hold down a top five position in this League and why their Managers view is so at odds to that of so many supporters ( those on this forum excepted). With the expensive squad assembled I would have expected the Plainmoor tea lady to have had no trouble guiding us to a higher position in the League, but as we so often say it's all about opinions & I fully respect those who can find some merit in Buckles managerial ability.
Let's all hope for a win tomorrow but don't tell me it wasn't possible to find a minute to shake someones hand & pass him a trophy before letting him trot off the pitch 30 seconds after his team mates. I don't think it was asking a lot & I think the fans deserve better. In a worse case scenario there might well be a choice between championship football at Plymouth, league One football at Exeter or enduring another season of Buckles non league hoofball at Plainmoor. Therefore it's important not to alienate the fans any more than is absolutely necessary otherwise you'll find even fewer deciding on a trip to Plainmoor however cheap you make the season tickets!

Look, it ain't happening, it ain't going to happen and neither should it happen. Tomorrow a result is everything and I for one don't want something that can perfectly well be carried out at an end of season social event to interfere in any way in the players mental preparation for tomorrow. "Concentrate the minds of the consortium" on what? That barely a f4anny full of points and almost comparable goal differences separate ALL the protagonists after a complete season? That there is only guaranteed promotion for the Champions? That thanks to Weymouth two of the main clubs involved have been gifted the points and goals that could well swing it for them? That only two years ago OUR club was in total disarray with a disrespectful owner bringing back a failed manager whom it cost the current owners no little expense of immediately dispensing with again? That the new and current manager had to start with just three professionals on which to build his squad that went so close last season? So the tea lady could run it eh? I reckon any club with pillocks like you chipping away at the manager would struggle to achieve anything and as for expecting the manager to share the opinion of the supporters...................that's a complete wind up isn't it? You ever stand amongst those idiots on the Popside who get on the players' backs as soon as the game starts or the silly little scrotes from the kiddies' site who think someone who can't be guaranteed pass the ball in a straight line to be a "Legend" ? There's even a certain element that are STILL spouting anti Buckle crap on another site and the HE site but although members on here don't even think about it.
