We are not allowed to stand on the yellow steps[/b] on the Popside as they are an "escape" route in case of an emergency. Ok, fair enough, no problem with that.
...apart from the Coventry game in which you couldn't see the yellow steps in which I would have thought there was more of a H&S risk than 2000 at yesterdays game. Why weren't the fans moved on?? totally agree with you there phil, I got told off once for molly sitting on the steps in the popside eating chips obviously they wanted the money from the coventry game cramned everyone in and different rule applies! hope your well x

If this 'bottle top' rule is a TUFC creation, i do wonder what incident instigated it? Has anyone at Plainmoor ever thrown a bottle on to the pitch? And if it was an isolated incident, does it deserve a rule of it's own? If someone was to throw a pasty in frustration at the next home game, would we subsequently be unable to take them onto the terracing too? Where did this dis-trsut in our general behaviour come from? And why is a bottle with a lid on condsidered more of a 'weapon' than anything else someone might have in their pocket? A snickers bar could hurt if thrown with enough force, and a packet of polo's could be fatal! Why are they ok? It's a bit farcical really.

And it's like my hubby said if they are worried about coins being put into lids as a weapon why not empty your pockets before you go in the ground as u could still throw coins! just not in a lid

Fonda please read some of the earlier posts, many of them state who is responsible for the bottle top law. It started in Scotland where fans were known to fill bottle tops with coins and launch them, usually at opposition fans. It is an F.A. law not the clubs if we do not follow F.A. law we basically get in serious trouble as a club.

Also on the subject of the yellow steps, at Weymouth you couldstand where you liked, as there were no yellow (or any other colour) steps. In fact the only exit was through a tiny gate in the back corner of the stand. Had to queue to get out for several minutes. What would happen if there was a fire or other emergency?
If it's a health and safety issue why doesn't it apply to all clubs?

For some strange reason the rules regarding bottle tops dont apply to the stewards, or they just ignor them.

Obviously if it is, we have no option but to abide by it, but it doesn't disguise the absurdity of it.

What would happen if there was a fire or other emergency?I'm assuming everyone would exit via the pitch, rather than the small gate at the rear? That's certainly the direction i'd be heading in anyway! Probably to be told by an overly officous steward 'i don't care about a fire, you are not allowed on the pitch!' ;D

You are correct Shane and at this time it is still not clear if it is an FA rule, Ant seems to think that there is no rule that refers to bottle tops being removed and he will check into this further.

It started in Scotland where fans were known to fill bottle tops with coins Well I reckon the chances of a bunch of Sweaties collectively giving up their baubies to be as rare as a bunch of Aussies NOT having the names "Bruce" or "Sheila" amongst them!

..................the throwing of plastic bottles with coins in started somewhere in scotland, not sure of when or where, but the FA brought in a blanket ruling to cover all grounds, so i believe the tops are removed to stop this, i know this can be extended onto..................., Removing the shells from the prawns at Old Trafford? The crusty tops to the Balti Pies at The Wolves? Banning Bowler Hats (ever seen James Bond and "Odd Job"?) Padlocking zip flies to prevent mass outbreaks of flashing.........................this thread is getting B O R I N G !

So sorry the thread is now boring you merse, what must not happen on this thread is that it gets used as a steward bashing thread, as Steve has only joined to help with our concerns etc.
You moan about the small gates at Plainmoor, things like having bottle tops removed do cause upset and risk losing even more fans. it is important to find out if this is just a club rule or not,as treating fans as young children may not be the way a professional football club should treat its fans.
