That's an optimistic view Rob I do hope your right.
Pessimistically in a worst case scenario I can also see the season being abandoned and void if many clubs are unable to fulfill fixtures with no promotion or relegation.
Surely the authorities have a plan for all eventualities with cut off points etc.

I'm not sure where I heard it or I might have imagined it but I swear a threshold of 75% of completed games if season was to be decided on a average points per game basis was mentioned somewhere. Certainly I think we are going to see many more games postponed due to covid and I would be very surprised if there was a single club that doesn't have a positive test at some point.

Yes. All elite sports in England will continue. Rumour has it that the game at step 3 and below will be halted but there is the problem of 9 non-elite clubs still being left in the FA Cup. See how it pans out but would suggest first round is different with a combination of prize money, streaming and TV making it economical to play the matches with no crowds. link - confirmation that those non elite clubs can play in the FA Cup.

I like to think it is a positive outlook Pete. 😎 However, let’s take the 75% completion figure as a baseline for a viable season. Can 33 leagues games be played by the end of May? That is 26 for us, 28 for some others in a 7 month period, even with lots of cancellations things are going to have to go South quite drastically not to be able do this.

Tonight's Barnet v Hartlepool fixture postponed because a Barnet player has tested positive for Covid.

Looks like the National League will start on 21st August. Less than 2 months turnaround for those in the play offs.
