What are your expectations for the forthcoming season? Avoid relegation, mid table stability, pushing for promotion or promotion to the football league? Do you want financial security from GI, great entertainment from the team,a striker that gets 20 odd goals in the season or something else?

Expect us to be in the play offs at the end of the season. Hopefully a trip to Wembley. Signing an experienced striker is key.

Hard to say without seeing a few matches but definitely some good signings in there and should be Nico's best season in charge. We are still light on numbers so need some luck on the injury front but top half is very doable!

Expectations are, without doubt higher then the last two seasons because there appears to have been a proper preseason plan to sign the right people. Players with experience and leadership qualities rather than last minute squad fillers of previous seasons. I'm keeping a level head and an open mind until I have seen the current crop play a few games - we simply don't know how capable a small squad of better quality will be over a season and injuries and suspensions are bound to have an effect on our ability to finish higher up the table or threaten the play off places. I will be far more optimistic if I see two more players of similar quality sign - the two remaining key positions, a decent winger and that all important target man who can hold up the ball and hit the net. We will get an impression on Wednesday no doubt but not the final picture.

petef, agree with your comments about the squad two / three more signings required in my opinion. Winger, Striker and a utility player.Rewards for supporters would help also "kids for a quid "and half price entry day on the (very) odd occasion would be popular, free pasty day is also worth considering!!⚽

jj Subsidies, give aways, free stuff. jj,you didn't happen to write the Labour Party manifesto did you ? Just further signs that we're turning things around and starting to move in the right direction will be enough for me. Individually our defence shouldn't be too bad once the players build up an understanding. If Kev can get the personnel in that he wants to strengthen our attacking options then a significant improvement on last season can't be discounted.

Signing an experienced striker is key. Fake news according to AJ elsewhere. Apparently we are looking for a striker from trialists agrees our right wing sage on BTPIR. I'll give Hedges a listen as I have read he said we want to source someone from trials for both striker and left mid/wing. I thought we had Gosling for the latter role and needed a right mid/wing.

Suspect we may just avoid being relegation fodder this season and could end up as high as 15th in the table perhaps?

Smacks of total desperation with dollops of stupidity. Total waste of time - the sort of signing that will disappear into obscurity!

Many positives with recruitment this season including the most recent loan signing of Jordan Lee, but I'm not sure we have enough goals in us without the replacement goalscorer signing. As things stand - lower mid table thanks to an improved defensive unit from front to back, starting with Pittman, ending with Ryan Clarke and with one or two bits of quality in between. Rory Fallon joining in training and pushing our other strikers is fine, but its hard to see him as the answer.
Fingers crossed we will soon sign an ever present who will trouble the 2017-2018 National League goalscoring upper echelons. It was no coincidence our showings were good in the two Conference seasons that we had a virtually ever present Tim Sills leading the line and bagging plenty of goals. Plenty of other quality in that side, just as we have now, but Sills provided that vital and obvious ingredient a play off challenging side will greatly benefit from.

This is the time of year for predictions and speculating without seeing watching a genuine competitive game though its pretty much a waste of time. Every set of supporters will be doing exactly the same with 90% believing the have a stronger squad than the previous one. "The proof of the pudding" as the old saying goes and at five o'clock on Saturday August the fifth we will have more of an idea of what to expect though if memory serves me right we did pretty well early last season against Tranmere loseing narrowly and playing well. This obviously wasnt a true indicator of what was to follow. And its just the same with the pre season friendlies when players are gaining match fitness, trying their hardest to avoid injuries and playing at less than full throttle. My guess is we will struggle to score enough goals to be candidates for the top third but stronger defensively so I would predict a mid table finish though in all honsesty knowing this club we could be up the top or down the bottom again. Have to be encouraged by the squad rebuild though but until we know the standard of the rest of the pack and have played a few games we just wont know but I reckon once again this division will prove to be stronger than ever.
