My guess is we will struggle to score enough goals to be candidates for the top third but stronger defensively so I would predict a mid table finish A consensus would appear to be breaking out across the forums with this prediction. Whilst it would be nice to have a panic free mid-table finish I just can't see it. After the near miss relegation survival of 2 years ago I really expected last season to be mid-table. Completely wrong! Another near miss from falling into the abyss! I have seen nothing to suggest it won't be another season long disaster bobbing about in and out of the bottom 4. Probably 23rd early December, manager to be gone before Auld Lang Thingy is sung, and a new manager inspiring a surge up the table to finish 18th to 20th. Somebody on one of the forums queried why he could not get live updates of a friendly at Plymouth Parkway. If it all goes desperately wrong and we are relegated, we won't even get live updates of National League South fixtures! It is that low down the football pyramid! I guess if I don't expect much then I cannot be disappointed!

Rob
Kev has more money to play with this pre-season than last. It's difficult to say for certain what if any, is still left over ? Had Shaun Harrod signed, I've a feeling it would have been two thirds as coach and one third as player. With Fallon having been player coach at Truro last season, will we now instead, take him on as three quarters coach, one quarter player? It's up to Kev how he allots his money after all. And, remembering Kev's words that Fallon 'certainly isn't here for the money', might have virtually no negative affect on us being able to bring in the class of striker we'd all like to see, should we find him and convince him to sign.
As Fallon is apparently 'highly motivated', then no harm in that rubbing off on other squad members. If he's kidding himself he'll get fit enough and good enough for World Cup duty, well it's only himself he's deluding. But if he's succeeding in that quest, then he's already with us and we can take advantage of it. The need to drum him out of the club altogether, when he could bring some useful attacking coaching know-how, a good attitude and cost us next to nothing, seems unnecessary. But judged on Rory the player, as things stand now, we can't pin our hopes on him. If Kev has been able to identify the type of player Rob would like to see, then, budget allowing, Kev probably doesn't need to delay further and should sign him on. Particularly, as Pete says, the National League will most probably be of a better overall standard than last season.

Hopefully so, AJ. If he is costing bugger all and provides assistance in training, then it needn't be viewed so negatively. However - if that is striker recruitment now done and dusted, I can understand the concern of the many.

Rob I'm assuming Kev has a greater awareness and understanding of the striking potential he'll start the season with than the rest of us. But if he doesn't, and in the August games our defence looks strong and solid, our midfield looks energetic and creates chances, yet our forward line looks blunt and clueless then I'll use whatever influence I have with Clarke . With no transfer window, and once he's grasped the fact that everything points that the lack of signing one decent striker means he's getting the income from 1500 gates rather than 3500 each home game, I'm certain he'll be able to do the maths for himself. Just as some fans who have cut back on their Transfer Fund donations could already be musing on that old saying 'Don't spoil the ship for a hapeth of tar'

Concerned about some of the players we have recruited. Whilst at first sight the side looks stronger than last season there is a huge question mark over some players ability to last the course of the season. For example Clark, already been crocked in pre season, if he is out during season it is a big ask of osbourn to offer sufficient cover. Liam Davis still out before season had even started. And Pitman, last season was his most prolific as a scorer, but he only played in 21 games, why? In reality the squad is wafer thin. Another relegation fight I fear.

As we're all aware, TUFC just don't do mid-table comfortable non stress seasons! I see no reason why this season is going to be any different. Around a quarter of the players we signed are already crooked without a ball being kicked in anger. We still have the Sword of Damocles (or its modern equivalent...GI) hanging over us. So a season of struggle it is sports fans! The only bright side for me, is the hope that GI won't get their grubby hands on Plainmoor, and like the carpet baggers of the past will wander off in search of some other poor unsuspecting sod! After having sold up for a whopping profit of course!

Register Pah!....get back to stirring your tea Reg . You'll be able to talk with some authority if you've been able to run the rule over Kev's promotion chasers at the Guiseley game in a few Saturdays time. Mind you it's probably snowing in Yorkshire today, so informing us of your expectations passes some time. A bit of luck in avoiding serious injuries would be a big help to us as we can't afford a large squad of good quality players. Just say if Brendan Moore had signed a new contract with us and picked up an injury during training, that more than likely will keep him out of first team action until approaching Christmas ? I doubt there's a lot of money in the pot to bring in high standard replacements if key men get crocked. Give the new squad time to gel and to get over the early doors heavy defeats to Tranmere and Aldershot.....and by the time they're heading up to Guiseley the lads should be totally demoralised sensing things are really starting to click into place. I'm not expecting a dull season .

One of the locals tells me he remembers it snowing in June some years ago, so snow not unheard of in the summer, we are only four miles from the highest pub in Britain. Yes, it will be nice to have a look at our wonderful new team at Guiseley...no doubt it will be chucking it down and will end up a 0:0 draw, still...our first point of the season!

Games 4,5&6 are home to boreham wood, away to guiseley, home to Solihull. These are games we must simply win to avoid another season of fire fighting. We should be aiming to take all 9 nine points from these games as in the past it is our failure to beat the teams around us that has cost us. If we fail in these games then I think either Nicholson goes or he stays because failure on the pitch is part of GIs propaganda that we can only succeed in a new (imaginary) stadium.

We desperately need a win tonight - anything less will increase pressure on KN who must know TUFC have got to start to deliver big time over the next 3-4 games.

I am not confident we will have enough about us to win this game defensively we are very very rocky and mix that in with clueless kev and you we could have ourselves a defeat

I'm afraid I've decided to save myself £35, 3 hours driving and 2 hours standing by not coming tonight. I did warn you what to expect after the Tiverton PSF, but got shouted down by most other posters and even got accused of not knowing anything about football in spite of having 70 years experience of the game. Posters are saying we should give Nicholson a chance as it's only 3 games into the season, but it is actually TWO WHOLE SEASONS that we have been subjected to his doubtful managerial ability.
