It was only in the later part of August that you kick started this thread in readiness for the Presidential Election, back on the top of page 9, and now not too many months later we’re on page 25. And it’s those pages, filled with the friendly exchange of differing opinions from various TFF members that helps the Forum in it’s fight to keep looking like an authentic Forum and not turning into a bulletin board. I’m sure the Admins are just as anxious that it doesn’t become a place where we come solely to get links to tell us what people away from the Forum are saying i.e the Manager, sports reporters, local journalists, newspaper columnists, copies of newsletters, whats on other sites such as Torquay Talk etc …… and in that respect you’ve played a key part over the past few months, and more deserving in my opinion of a TUST award than the bloody Chairman of Kings Lynn for commenting that someone had driven a long way. You’ll have been as shocked as the rest of us, Stewart, by Rob’s revelation concerning the White House having to make 18 attempts at telephone contact with the Secretary of State in Georgia. I think there is further debate planned, probably tomorrow, regarding whether the November election would have put a Banana Republic to shame. That telephone disgrace also casts them in such a bad light. Just imagine if such a thing happened in Devon, and we learned that Downing Street had been put through 18 times to idiot students in County Hall. Like or loathe Boris, I think we’d be embarrassed by our County administration.  If January 20th should indicate that a new thread (President Decent Joe) is required, then I imagine it could be every bit as interesting as this old one …. and I hope you won’t be able to resist joining in. |

I’m sure the Admins are just as anxious that it doesn’t become a place where we come solely to get links to tell us what people away from the Forum are saying i.e the Manager, sports reporters, local journalists, newspaper columnists, copies of newsletters, whats on other sites such as Torquay Talk etc Yep, the links are there as a possible starting point for debate. However, I like to source material so in the first place wires are not crossed but also to give proper credit to where it is due and in the case of a newspaper article for example hits on a site may make a difference to advertising revenue which I would not want to take away from. I have enjoyed reading both the BREXIT and Trump threads, both of which look like they will have run their course this month but feel as admin and like a referee it is difficult to wade into either side of the argument plus after doing all those match threads and keeping up to date with TUFC news don’t have a great deal of time left anyway. Think you may have been a little harsh on Nick’s lighthearted awards but on the upside you may be first in line for a special award next year. 😉 |

I see he has whipped up his mob into worrying scenes with the storming of the Capitol and Congress just now. News currently breaking. A worrying time over there.

I must concur. A piece of prose of such brilliance and perceptiveness that it almost rivals those (award winning) words of the great Stephen Cleeve (Kings Lynn) himself. So profound were Cleeve’s words, that they still bring a tear to the eye of grown men who go back to re-read them occasionally. Cleeve, now rightly recognised as one of the great orators of our time, had already been shortlisted for the TUST ‘Chairman Of The Year Award’ for earlier having been overheard saying ‘Any chance of another cup of tea ?’ to a Kings Lynn FC employee …….. and RJD’s masterpiece just fell ever so slightly short of reaching those same heights. p.s If ever there was an award for being unable to stop yourself popping up and trying to reheat a disagreement, as you’re disappointed to see the flames are dying down, then that person would have won it for the previous 4 years consecutively by my reckoning. He’s good at it, and a few of us will always bite, but I’m convinced it’s an addiction  |

I posted a tweet of Trump’s that came with a warning of incitement to violence earlier that has now just become a blank post as a result, so I deleted it. People will see clips of his inflammatory ‘speech’ online post riot and sensibly the orange idiot’s Twitter account has been blocked for the period of the DC curfew tonight as police continue to push back the crowds post curfew commencement. The female inside the Capitol building who was shot by security forces earlier has now died. There is serious consideration to remove him from office ahead of 20/1 as unfit via 25th Amendment and some of it is coming from Republican Party donors, the National Manufacturers Association. I’m not analysing that TV news reported matter further, but AJ will, so look forward to his empirical research dispelling this and concomitant expose of the Association as Militant and/or irrelevant in US politics. Trump has become deranged with his fantasy obsession. It does happen in narcissism, I am led to believe. I’m reliably informed it doesn’t happen to those obsessed with perceived nefarious supporter group activity where it doesn’t exist. 😉 |

They are still pushing the crowds back post curfew and sitting again later when deemed safe. Those within his own administration and party are now coming out and saying Trump’s incitement has caused this riot. Consideration of vote of censure also now, last done to Mad Joe McCarthy. AJ will recall him given his inspiration for the TUST posts. I would think Congress most likely hope the fool eventually just slinks away, though, now. |

Reportedly Republican Party cabinet itself now considering 25th Amendment removal of Trump from office on grounds of his mental state and lack of fitness to hold office.
With just two weeks left in office, it is unlikely to come to pass or get going in the timeframe but they have let it be known it is a consideration. Much more likely are a number of resignations by others within the White House in response to Trump’s actions today.
A number of Republican Senators and House Representatives have now removed their objections and some are clearly pointing the finger of blame for this riot on the President himself. Those who have seen the orange idiot’s pre and post riot speeches and aware of the shooting by security forces of one pro Trump protestor will perhaps understand why.
Whilst it has been an interesting live TV watch, I’ll be turning in for the night and, of course, look forward to reading some latched onto alt-right nonsense on the matter in due course at some point.

Stewart Hello Stewart, I'll try to post a fuller reply later, but there's actually not much of a requirement for me to provide a hindsight view on yesterday's events, when I explained with such clarity and foresight the larger problem that overshadowed the US election, and which was a 'bigger concern' than whether Trump or Biden should be declared the winner, in my post of 26th October (i.e before the election even took place) Such was my ability to predict the future, that I even stated that our Presidential Race Correspondent may not be able to stand down after November 3rd. Right on the button again, as here you are treating us to your views on President Trump more than 2 months later. However, you need look no farther than my post of a few days ago on this thread, in order to realise that an understanding of the motivation behind the TUST Chairman Of The Year Award provides a microcosm of the same forces at work on a bigger scale regarding the demonization of President Trump, that the Mainstream Media has been indulging in for the past 4 or 5 years. This illustration should make it even clearer ....  |

I can't believe that Alpine takes the TUST chairman of the year award, which is obviously tongue-in-cheek, seriously enough so as to offer it as proof of TUST disloyalty.
Talking of awards it never fails to amuse me that the MOTM award always goes to a United player at Plainmoor even when we have put in such poor performances where none of our players could be said to have earnt their wages on that day

I can't believe that Alpine takes the TUST chairman of the year award You got me concerned there for a minute, Pete. Is AJ Chairman or has he won Chairman’s Award was the initial thought process? For the latter award possibility, maybe an Honourable mention, but surely not in first place. That said, I’ve heard there’s a positive correlation between his posts on TUST and their membership growing. Maybe 2021 will be the year AJ finally gets that recognition. 😉 |

Sometimes a player spends all match winding up the ref, the opposition and the fans but just avoids getting a yellow. Then he commits a straight red offence but only gets a yellow. Then he gets a soft second yellow and justice is served. Cheerio, cheerio, cheerio.
The scenes at the Capitol and the five resulting deaths are due to those propagating the conspiracy theory that the election was stolen.
