I have resurrected this thread for one purpose, and that is to ask the question: Based on his current and ongoing attempts to replace an historically successful democracy with an authoritarian regime, who on earth does Trump think he is? His latest energies have been propelled towards preventing black people and other immigrants from voting at the next elections. He obviously wants to be seen as the instigator of a refreshed white supremacy movement. It occurs to me that perhaps he has also recently been reading Mein Kampf, such is his absorption with ego. Hitler would have loved him. All comments welcome, including those of Register, who has frequently stated that Trump is a jolly decent fellow. If nobody is interested, then it's no big deal and I shall simply sit here stewing over something which is threatening to cause another civil war. No, it doesn't affect me personally in any way, but I have always had an overwhelming aversion to world leaders (an ex-leader in this case) who over time have shown that they care more about their own glory than the fate of their own country. Whenever his face appears on my TV, I literally feel like throwing up, and it is sickening that so many people support him "over there". Trump is a neo-fascist and is terrifying now how mainstream such far-right views are. Attempt to defend any form of persecution now, and you’re described as “woke” or labelled a “snowflake”. How has it happened that in 2022, in what should be the height of human civilisation, we’ve become less so, with so much hate and toxic views staining everyday life? We have a government that crumbles in the face of its far-right elitist and libertarian wing and seeing as the government is largely made up of people of my generation, I find it astonishing to think it’s people my age happy to erode democracy, to use lies and mistruths to create a Brexit built on bullshit so that the far-right elite can evade tax and connive and deceive poor people into thinking they are better off this way. All of it is tied up with the sort of neo-fascism that is perpetrated by the likes of Trump.

It’s not so much that I think Trump is a very nice fellow, it’s more the state of the opposition. Every time they have an election in the U.S. they tend to wheel out (which in the case of Biden is exactly what they did) some dusty old relic from the past. Had Trump been running against an Obama type candidate my thoughts would have been different. The same applies for Boris, the state of the opposition was frightening.
As I have mentioned before, the mere mention of politics makes my eyes glaze over, but there are two countries which I do glance at during elections, this one obviously and the U.S.
Who runs this country is now though of less importance, because we’re so far down the plug-ole it makes no never mind.
The U.S. though is another matter, and you only have to look at what the big boys on the stage are doing, to realise that now is not the right time to have a weak person in the Whitehouse.

I think you already know what my response to that would be. Better to have a president who cares about all of the people and tries to unite them, even if outwardly he may appear quite frail, than a corrupt and divisive bully who is intent on splitting the population as a means to his own ends. In an ideal world, better to have neither, I suppose, but I suspect that the USA will not know an ideal world for decades to come, thanks to the manner in which the ex-president dealt firstly with the pandemic and then with the legitimacy of the election.

A leader (ex) of a country who actually wasn’t afraid to tell it as it is. What does the present President do…forgets who he’s talking to, forgets what he’s talking about and when he moves anywhere, he falls over someone or something.
Labour have stated that they will invest 28.000.000.000 on green issues should they get into power…they might just as well flush the money down the Crapper for all the good that will do.
New windmills: well you’ve already heard about them.
New cycle lanes: so if cars aren’t moving, (because of the the empty bike lanes) what are they doing…well I’ll tell you…those cars are polluting the planet!
Yet another genius idea from Labour, is to allow the ‘Just Stop Oil’ Mutants to continue in their endeavour to bring the country to a standstill! So if the cars are crawling along at 1 mph, what are they doing…well I’ll tell you…those cars are polluting the planet!
I’m sure Labour will have many plans which they think will save the planet, but of course they will be doing the exact opposite…and destroying it!
When are these bloody Aliens coming to save this planet from Labour and destruction? 👽

For an interesting insight into American politics I highly recommend the Youtube documentary " Boogieman The Lee Atwater story. People are stupid…that much is made clear by that documentary. I know sod all about US politics and very little about UK politics, but if anyone thinks that there is a difference between Blair and Brown or May and Truss, go and lie down now. All four were pathetic beyond words, and not one of them had one thought about the welfare of this country or the people that live in it. The party that comes up with the biggest lie (as seen in the documentary) is always the party that gets in. The fact that people are so stupid, is played upon time and time again. Poor old Lee at the end of his life, so afraid of death and turning to the Bible. I believe it was Sigmund Fraud who said: as long as people are afraid of death there will always be a belief in a God.

Alas after Biden's performance in the presidential debate I think the convicted felon is a shoe in for November. Christ, Trump in the white house, Le Pen in France, Putin in Russia, Farage no doubt leader of the opposition before the year is out. Can things only really get better?
