To all fans,
We are writing to confirm that Colin Authers, the Financial and Commercial Director of TU Fans Ltd has joined the TUST on behalf of the company. The purpose of this is so that if Plainmoor becomes available to purchase, then TU Fans Ltd would help the TUST to raise the money so that, together, we can ensure that Plainmoor is safe for the club and the fans both now and for future generations.
We are happy to confirm that we have over £100,000 in place to purchase the grounds with the TUST, in accordance with the TUST rules. TUFans Ltd would not be the owners of the ground because it would be in trust for the fans. We hope that all fans, like ourselves and the TUST, will do all that they can to help the club in the event that GI Ltd and their associates withdraw from the purchase of TUFC.
Yours sincerely
TU Fans Ltd

I normally just read this forum and others, and do not normally post but and I have to say this is the first sensible thing I have heard from the TU Fans Ltd.
My understanding is regardless of how much money you put in to a community share purchase (£1 or £100000)the rules are the same, one share, one vote. If the TUST (the supporters) do get the opportunity to purchase Plainmoor and TU Fans Ltd put in £100000 to gain one share and one vote then it will show they are genuine supporters.
We shall wait and see.

Dear fans,
TU Fans Ltd would like to thank Toady for his/her comments and we would like to clarify that we are fully aware that we would only have one vote. Michael fully explained this and exactly how the TUST works at our meeting.
We would like to say that we are dedicated fans, just like all of you. We are not doing this for profit or glory, but to save our beloved club and Plainmoor for all fans both now and in the future. We believe that there is no time like the present to stick together.
Yours sincerely
TU Fans Ltd

I would just like to say I am absolutely not posting under the guise of anybody else (expect for being Toady obviously) I read all three forums and have never really posted mostly because by the time I have read everything all my thoughts on the subject have normally been discussed. I like everyone have concerns about TU Fans Ltd.
This whole GI takeover is dragging on for whatever reason (I assume it is talks with the council that are delaying things). The only way I can see my club being safe in the future is 1) a mad Torquay United Fan wins the euro millions and takes over, OR the club is owned by the supporters and is a democracy. As I said in my previous post if, (I hope), TUST do have the opportunity and become successful in a community share purchase of Plainmoor or better still the club as well, then and if TU fans Ltd put in £100,000 for one share alongside my £1 for one share then they have surely proved they do care about the club?
Anyway just to say I am on no sides or belong to anybody and am just a supporter, season ticket holder and will be there every home game as I always am.
Up the Gulls!

I would love to see Torquay fans own the club but it is difficult to see this being financially viable. For example if we all kicked in 250 quid how much would that raise? Can't imagine it would be enough to sustain the club. Equally difficult to imagine many fans having more than 250 quid to invest. ...there is certainly not going to be a financial reward from the "investment ".Am I missing something here?

This may sound a stupid question but I will ask anyway. If the club is purchased by GI and moved to nightingale park would the trust still purchase Plainmoor? Why would they do that you might ask; well if at some future point GI decided to dispose of the club, by which time it would probably be worth next to nothing, the trust might be able to buy the club and it would be able to play at Plainmoor rent free. OK I know its a bit a fantasy but just asking.

well well well STEFANO i am sorry to disappoint you. but i only have one name and that gets me in trouble at times. Please don't put my name in capitals. I don't do that with you. Still having problems with full stops and capitals then but you manage to do it with my name. Strange! Three or four different poster names on here now saying the same sort of thing (although I am sure you would realise Mr Bay 52 yours never make any sense - deliberate I believe). I think it is incredible you want to invade the least read forum and yet you have registered on the others but don't post. Weird probably isn't the right word for it, but it will do for me!

I certainly think if GI did move TUFC to Nightingale Park it would be a good idea if the TUST did buy Plainmoor. Obviously it would take a lot of planning but Plainmoor (if the pich gets sorted out) could be used by the school, local football clubs and of course training by TUFC. I am sure there are ways the TUST (supporters) could make Plainmoor profitable and it could be used as a sporting hub for the surrounding area. And of course if it all goes t**ts up at Nightingale Park at least TUFC won't be homeless.

And of course if it all goes t**ts up at Nightingale Park at least TUFC won't be homeless. A good idea in principle but TUST will only buy the Freehold while TUFC hold the long lease with a ground rent of 15k. Why? Well land value fluctuates according to the use it can be put to. Presently it is locked into a football use and therefore the freehold value will be based on capitalising the rental return. So say a 5% return equates to a freehold valuation of 300k. Here is the nub. What if GI as Tufc owners agree a surrender of the leasehold interest as part of a deal maybe with a planning permission change? The freehold rockets and prices community groups out of the market place. All sorts of possibilities then open up for GI. Questions to be asked are: 1) Will we even get another stadium built? GI record says no! 2) If we do how will it compare to Plainmoor? 3) if a new stadium opens up new revenue streams as DT aludes to then will Tufc benefit? We really need 3 yes answers but I fear it will be all in the negative. Personally would not touch GI with a barge pole. No communications until it is a done deal to allay fans concerns suggest something not quite right. Think we are doomed. Please don't do it TUFC directors....
