What about Thatcher Rock?! Might be struggling for a football pitch and golf course on the slopes.

And Billy Bodin isn't the only star from our past whose had to struggle with a long term injury. Cap'n Angus, now at Hull City, hasn't been involved in a game for 10 months. Angus joined Hull back in January 2018, but has so far only made 16 starts for them. The current problem for Angus has been a blood clot on his thigh. Something being treated more seriously in his case given that it was another blood clot, then on his lung, that put his whole football future in jeopardy when he was a youngster at Reading Academy. His lack of fitness also meant no place on the pre season trip to Marbella for Angus either, although a week or so ago he was at Wimbledon with his latest girlfriend enjoying the tennis. She is a minor celebrity, according to what Rob has read in his Daily Express

I see Dan Lavercombe will be returning to fortress Plainmoor this season. Only because he's joined Fylde having left Wigan.

Thanks to the .com site
Kevin Nicholson - appointed head of coaching at Exeter City FC
Really pleased for him....especially after all the sh*t he took from certain areas...

Wor Quoidie finally found his level. In fairness, he did have the "guidance" of the world's worst ever football manager when at Plainmoor. Jamie Reid and Rhys Murphy looked equally clueless after Owers' de-motivational input - and have both scored shedloads since the cloud of depression was lifted from their shoulders.

Thanks to the .com site Kevin Nicholson - appointed head of coaching at Exeter City FC Really pleased for him....especially after all the sh*t he took from certain areas... Delighted for Nico. That job will suit him down to the ground. Nice easy commute and he will fit the culture there perfectly. Some will say he should have taken that job four years ago - but the job wasn't on offer then, was it? I doubt if he regrets grabbing the opportunity at Plainmoor - and learned a hell of a lot from the experience. Most, if not all, are bright enough to factor in the impossible circumstances he had to work with before judging his Plainmoor tenure. Season 1- objective obtained, Season 2 - objective obtained. Season 3 - we will never know. Always positive and upbeat - in stark contrast to the man who took us down and went on to make National League South look difficult. With Hargreaves and Mansell doing so well at Rovers, Carlisle and Nico at SJP - there a re quite a few of Buckle's players building coaching careers.

This Saturday it's ......BILLY v OWLSBB - 'I am hoping to have the ball at my feet plenty this weekend when we host Sheffield Wednesday at Deepdale this weekend'.Billy Bodin is no longer just in the gym trying to regain fitness after missing the whole of last season, but now out on the pitch playing Championship football and scoring goals. As one of the most precocious talents we've witnessed at Plainmoor in the recent past, it comes as no surprise that Billy is a star at Championship level and surely knocking on the door ready to step up a further level. And as anyone who watched Wednesday night's televised Sky match can testify, the match fitness still has a way to go (Billy was taken off just short of the hour mark) but hailed numerous times as 'the impressive Billy Bodin' by the Sky commentary team. It was an entertaining encounter between Preston and Stoke. A crowd of a little under 12,000 was disappointing, but understandable as many would have saved their money in readiness for the mighty Sheffield Wednesday coming to town at the weekend. King Billy is already looking forward to it, as he made clear to Lancashire Post readers, where he discussed his long lay-off through injury and other issues ( link - Billy Is Back) And what about that goal in the 25th minute ? Jack Butland might be a multi million pound goalkeeper. He might be the youngest ever goalkeeper to play for the England senior team, he might be 6ft 5ins tall, but when King Billy shot from outside of the penalty area, the hapless Butland was powerless to stop it going into the net. But Stoke are bottom of the league, whereas the mighty Owls are 4th, and one point off top place. Billy might be given another hour, or a touch more if he's up to it tomorrow. Let's hope he doesn't have too good a game or get on the scoresheet, but play well enough to impress the Wednesday management sufficiently to bring him to Hillsborough in the January transfer window (assuming Billy would be willing to live in the same city as Alan Knill ...and that's no certainty )

Nice to see Scott Rendell on the score sheet for Eastleigh, equalising in 90+8 after Woking had taken the lead in 90+5
