I see from the media that the first few have made it into court. Name and shame these lowlife. If any of them actually work for a living they should lose their jobs. Those on benefit should have it taken away. Their parent should also be made to help with the clean up along with their thieving scum offspring. What worries me is that these parasites are going to go on and have children themselves therefore breeding a new generation of scum. Maybe they should be offered sterilisation as an alternative to prison time. Why should law abiding citizens fund the spawning of more leeches on society? We can't cull them but we can discourage them from breeding. Interesting that some of the examples in the media are by no means stereotypical - the teaching assistant who is a learning mentor from a South London primary school and someone who drove up from Winchester to participate in this free for all attitude! In some respects this is reminiscent of some of the scenes from the Napoli after much of its cargo was washed up at Branksome Beach with the image of BMW bikes being wheeled away springing to mind!

.........do you know what, my dear Mr_rjd, I was just thinking about that, regarding the MV Napoli saga this morning as I was coming back from work - cripes they drove down from all over for that one didn't they......
........hey, fancy seeing one of our Hampshire Hogs getting involved there from Winchester - wonder how many of these wonkers have been picked up purely off CCTV and their number plates - bet not many had the intelligence to blank 'em out before setting off for the thievery - did anyone else see that a couple of the first ones to come out of Westminster Magistrates yesterday were the two Terry Fuuckwits dressed up like two out of work Pilsbury Doughboys (possibly only my learned friend Mr_Phil_Chelstongull will admit to remembering that bad boy as well) (obviously Plod had these waste of spaces' clothes for forensics etc I s'pose) who were caught trolleying 1400 quids' worth of power tools away - one was holding his court paperwork up like he was doing a Neville Chamberlain re-enactment scene or something (like just as if he'd heard of him), and pleading their innocence - felt like screaming at him, pull ya bloody trousers up herbert, stop showing off ya pants, you DON'T live on the South side of LA and why not learn to talk properly, not in gangsta-speak - dunno about the buugers operating power tools, judging by the look of these two and their apparent lack of eloquence and basic intelligence, I would say they'd be mentally challenged by a feckin' blunt pencil...........

Rags, i'm suprised you even bothered posting that link (unless trying to wind someone up ). What a load of simpering left wing diatribe. Reminds me of the rubbish that bell-end Pedrick-Friend keeps getting printed in the Herald. As several people have pointed out, its got bugger all to do with politics and is all about the chance to grab the latest TV or branded trainers without having to pay for them. Sheer thuggery to be honest and bears no relation to the struggles for democracy from previous centuries (Brixton riots partially excluded) quoted in the article. Its the "I want it now" attitude I'm afraid. Why bother saving to buy new gear when you can just go out and steal it? Add the fact that these feral rats have no concept of consequences for their actions ad it was almost bound to happen.

Don't worry Pete what is really being said is if you believe all that crap you are cool and can be one of the gang but if you raise a point or two against the argument you are a Tory toff who has got no right to be on this Earth. Socialists are the only people who believe they know how to put the World to rights, and after many years of not being given the opportunity in this Country they achieved power. Did they achieve anything else? I will just leave that to your imagination and knowledge! Socialists achieved power? "Socialists" like Tony Blair, Gordon Brown and Ed Milliband?! Sorry Lambeth I knew you would jump on that as soon as I pressed post. I actually have no problem with socialist views although the reality seems to be that the theory does not work in practice as it is intended too. You are right the Labour leaders of recent years have not been socialists although it has been mainly socialists voting for them. I am taking a couple of months out from posting on political threads as it is not doing my blood pressure any good, and will stick to the less stressful pastime of following Torquay United. Rags' match reports and other football observations are first class so I should be on safe ground sticking to that

I didn't mean to jump on anything, was just replying. I wasn't singling you out or anything It irritates me when people say the Labour Party is or was socialist, because it's a claim that doesn't stand up to scrutiny. I know that what irritates me is not at the forefront of others' minds, but you will understand that it is at the forefront of mine There have always been Stalinist and Trotskyist elements within the Labour Party, but all its leaders (and most of its members) have been firmly liberal, such that the Party's policies have generally been practically indistinguishable from the views of what used to be known as One Nation Tories. For my own part, I share neither the views nor sacred cows of Labour's liberal majority (with their paternalist instincts and faith in Parliamentary democracy), nor the more authoritarian views of its Communists and Trotskyists. I reject the state because state power is always used to protect and entrench the power of elites, whatever form it takes or however 'impartial' or 'accountable' it claims to be. Oddly, belief in the state is what unites not just Tankies, Trots and Liberals in the Labour Party, but is something Labour has in common with Conservatives, Nationalists and Fascists. I take inspiration not from Labour governments, but from Nestor Makhno's Ukraine, the sailors and citizens of Kronstadt and the peasants and workers of early 20th century Spain. My conception of socialism is best expressed by the deeds and words of people like Buenaventura Durruti, Emma Goldman and Peter Kropotkin. These people had more to say in 5 minutes than the Labour Party could say in a month. They're much better for the blood pressure too

:)I've quite enjoyed this thread as we have looked at these riots and have examined the reasons as to why they have occurred in this eventful week. I'm glad it was not just me that thought a lot of this was down to "Napoli Fever" (thanks Mr W) with the lure of easy takings without consequences taking form.
Of course that is a big generalisation but looking at some of the people going through the courts there is some evidence to support this. With over a 1000 arrests so far in London alone, things have fizzled out as it has suddenly dawned that in this CCTV world, there is a good chance that even with a hoodie (is this where hoodlum and even robin the hood originally came from?) that you could be called to account at a later date!
The good things is that with this summer madness ending, football is back on the agenda apart from the Tottenham match, situated in the epicentre that spawned these events.
