Some interesting questions raised by Mr W. I do not have time to answer them, but would add this.
The comments from non-Londoners in the media have been hilarious. Water cannon is a cure-all apparently. People might like to consider however that London is not some two-bit provincial city like Belfast or Charleroi, but a metropolis with a bigger population than the state of Israel.
The lumpenisation of the British working class has been ongoing since World War II, aided and abetted by successive capitalist governments (Tory or Labour). There is no overt political dimension to these disturbances. But you have to ask yourself why these people feel as if they have nothing to lose by behaving as they do. The fact that people think hierarchical power in the form of the police is the answer is the problem! These people are presumably the same as those who tell us state-sanctioned murder serves as a deterrent. Successful communities self-police; they do not need a water cannon stationed on every corner!

Reading the reports it all sounds terrifying. Gangs of feral kids just looting, beating and mugging at will with no fear of any consequences. What sort of society breeds these cockroaches? Who will punish them and make them pay for the damage. One thing's for sure it won't be their parent. Some single digit IQ trailer trash Sharon who got knocked up at 13 so she could have a brown baby like all the other mothers on the estate. Drop a couple more by the time she's 16 and she's laughing all the way to the council flat she's entitled to. Her brats turn feral and hey presto you've got what's going on today. My solution would be to make abortion freely available and encourage the Sharons to take up the option rather than give birth to these maggots. Statistically it is these low IQ mothers giving birth to the next generation of low IQ kids that commit most of the crime. Stop the flow and stop the problem.

My gut feeling is that we are past the nadir of these riots and things will improve rapidly from here on. The Bristol Rovers match has been postponed tonight but I am hopeful that the Saturday match will be on.

..........good news from the Old Bill, the one involved in the mugging on the hurt and bleeding kid they were pretending to help has been ID'd, also suspects lifted for both the Reeves AND the Selfridges fire-starter/arsonist attacks - also over 750 picked up thus far by the Met alone for offences over last few nights........... .........I imagine technology will be these bumwipes' downfall, as none of 'em having the brains they were born with, will have thought to ditch their original phones and blackberries etc after the crimes, so any of them will be full of their mates personal details and messages sent etc - not THAT difficult to go through them and start pulling in suspects from their contacts listings (which no doubt will be perfectly maintained with home addys etc, knowing these kids addiction to all things IT these days).................... ............maybe if Old Bill undercover squads/SAS want some basic training exercises over the next few days, honey-trap up these nobheads into a big Argos store (using some contacts from the ones caught already) and infiltrate the group, call 'em all in as a flash-mob, with a few undercover officers, armed up ready and waiting - get 'em all into the warehouse on the pretext of a big looting session and then spring the trap - bingo - "Hands up, we're the Sweeney son, and we haven't had our dinner, you're all nicked" (and who when a kid, DIDN'T want to say those words), go through all THEIR phones and hoike in even more - but then hey, 'twas only an idea m'Lud, I expect they've thought of that already......... .......oh, just a bit of light-hearted funnery, among all this angst lately - I see that the average IT photoshop/pc nerdbrain is still very much alive and kicking - see below link........ photoshoplooter.tumblr.com/ |

Sort of thing that sticks in your mind for a while. What sort of lowlife would take advantage of somebody in trouble like that. Its beyond comprehension. I see from the media that the first few have made it into court. Name and shame these lowlife. If any of them actually work for a living they should lose their jobs. Those on benefit should have it taken away. Their parent should also be made to help with the clean up along with their thieving scum offspring.
What worries me is that these parasites are going to go on and have children themselves therefore breeding a new generation of scum. Maybe they should be offered sterilisation as an alternative to prison time. Why should law abiding citizens fund the spawning of more leeches on society? We can't cull them but we can discourage them from breeding.
