Certainly no less snow than we've had in London; even though it's been enough to all but shut down South London's rail network. Very impressive to drive all that Dave, particularly as there will have been many in the country who woke up with snow outside and called in to work to say that they were "snowed in" (not me I hasten to add!). Love the pics btw, especially the Abbotsbury Hill ones you post.

As the Toolfix hunter and gatherer Lambie, it’s down to me to bring the work in. When you take into consideration the fact that we depend on tradesmen to use and then break their tools, we have done well as a small company to keep going through these recessionary times we are in.
Today a few customers said they did not expect to see me today and that’s normal when the weather is bad. It makes my laugh when they then tell me one of their workers could not get into work due to the snow, when I just come from the town or village where they live.
I don’t blame anyone for taking the decision not to drive when the roads are dangerous, for me it’s my job and as I drive around 1300 miles every week, I guess I can be classed as an experienced driver.
Today I drove 380 miles in total and Weston Super Mare was maybe the halfway point of my day, when you drive those amounts of miles everyday, you learn how to drive in all weather conditions and know what your capabilities are.
North Devon always poses the bigger dangers out of all the areas I cover, most of my driving up there is in lanes with big hills and when its been bad in the past, it has seemed like I’m the only person doing any driving.
I look at every working day as a mission I must complete and I’m not the sort of person who likes to get beaten and so its more a case of I’m going to get to ever call and then when I do, I feel pleased and happy I not only did not let our customers down, I hopefully got plenty of work to keep those buggers back at Toolfix busy.

our drivers are outstanding and have gone all over the country and then find someone hasn't come in from 5 miles away to accept the delivery.
We actually failed to deliver to Scotland and Durham this week but it's a bit obvious why but they tried.
There is true inspiration with the lengths that some people will go to, to get to work. i heard on the radio about the 2 John's who walked 20 miles to work in Sheffield. They set off at 3am and got to work and then walked home after work but refused to stay in a hotel. They have only missed 1 day in 37 years. They are oustanding but there are many people who do fantastic feats daily but it goes unnoticed. the only recognision that people receive tends to be negative but we should take the time to recognise the great things that people do.

Talking of doing good, there was a bad crash outside Orestone manor the other day and the police had to block raod off and detour everyone around it, the chef from a hotel near there directed traffic for ten hours in the cold after he had done a full shift at work just because he felt it was his duty as a decent person to help out! What a legend!

I was asked to do an early pitch inspection for my game last Saturday at 11am and on arrival at the ground found on the training pitch & surrounding area about 25 footballers with coaches in a training session. Asking as to what they were doing it transpired that they were all goalkeepers on tour from Australia , of all ages from 14-20yrs. touring all around England at the invitation of Premier clubs. A very organised outfit & together with the club chairman I spent about 30mins chatting & jesting re weather & cricket!! They were off later that day to be guests of Chelsea at the Newcastle game and during this week were visiting & training with Liverpool & the Manchester clubs . They stated that at home in Brisbane it was 28 degrees & had never known it so cold. I had to ask the obvious question "Have you ever seen snow" No was the reply, they never have......I bet they have now!! ... A great bunch of lads

We may not have had snow falling here in Devon since last week, but due to the very heavy frosts it sure looks like a winter wonderland here. Whats amazing is the trees, most have no leaves on them yet they are completely white. Some of the views I have seen today have been brilliant and made even better in some nice winter sun. Only wish I could have parked nearby some of the very best views today, but its always the case that you just have to look and admire as you drive past. Still I did take two shots and they were not really that special, but it was at a place I could park off the road for a few seconds. Only last month I was saying how wonderful the Autumn colours were this year and now every single tree you see is white.
