Dave, we wore the wrong colour blue uniform, perhaps if we joined the 'crabs' instead of the senior service, we might have understood all this Latin stuff, or is it Greek (geek), no wonder Merse views me as a 'sun reader'. [glow=yellow,2,300]At least non of us were "Pongoes"[/[/glow]quote] Fair point, well made.

It really is not important whether PB wins any award Merse makes some valid points. At the risk of boring people here are some stats. PB has now completed 70 games in charge. His best winning streak was 5 games between the 14th and 29th of September last year. He can equal that on Saturday with a win at Wrexham for September 2008 I set out some figures. Breaking the period into 10 game chunks and then some graphs showing rolling 15 game data. I am not sure that the data tells us who might be right out of Merse and Dave Shaw, only that "it's a funny old game"

Stu, = In wine the truth. Which, in my case, means that after a few too many you tell your beloved - 'Yes! You are fat and yes, I do fancy the barmaid!' An ambulance is always advisable when trying to pick your teeth up with a broken arm... My favourite (and I promise to stop now) is one I'm sure you know - Dulce et decorum est pro patria mori. (check the spelling. as someone who's served their country in the forces, you have my respect) ([glow=red,2,300]but why not the Navy[/glow] ) I didn't fancy feeling a new man everday!! Too many flares ;D Nought wrong with a bit of 'Rum, Bum & Backy' !!!!

The September Manager of the Month award went to, and quite rightly in my opinion (said through gritted teeth!).... Steve Evans at Crawley.
They have had a fantastic start to the season, and I am beginning to come around to the idea that they may just be good enough to at least secure a play off place at the end of the season. I cannot see them winning it, but you never know.
Let's just hope that the "curse" kicks in, and they start losing a few games now, so that we can start to close that gap. We have a tough set of fixtures coming up in the next month or so, and we don't want it to get much larger than it already is (8 points) .

I agree crispy, he has deserved his award and lets hope the curse Of the ward strikes again. It Is only eight points and not out of our reach by any means. I think the next few games, will give us a much clearer picture of our own promotional hopes.
Get the points and we really could be very near the top and start to look to take the top spot for ourselves. The way the table Is, a few defeats and we would be nearer the bottom again. I will keep up my hopes and continue to believe that things have been turned around and the only way Is up.

Well, Napoleon said "I would rather have a lucky General than a good one". I think Buckle falls into that category, because he certainly isn't a good one. Having said that, it's all about results and he's got them albeit by the skin of his teeth. The biggest problem for me is that the deluded will herald this as some sort of validation. It's not. Buckle will not get us out of this league. The sooner we realise this the better. What utter, utter rubbish. It clearly ISN'T all about results as last night showed. It's about the manager imposing his authority and personality on the WHOLE of the squad to show the same work ethic and team spirit that we saw in the first half of last season. The same work ethic and team spirit that we have seen at Cambridge and FGR. It's about the board recognising that and not being unduly influenced by results during a small window of the season. It's about the board not being influenced by the ridiculous rantings of misinformed whingers and moaners who have as much experience of going through an "off spell" as a participating sportsman as you or I have of loving Queen Talula of Upper Volta and her seventeen sisters , Dave! It's about being sportsmen out there on the field of battle rather than "Pygmy Generals" banging away on some key board, and it's about actually "doing and achieving" rather than pontificating, carping and criticising; stuck in a time warp of petulant disappointment because the next door neighbours sneaked in and had it away with yer missus whilst you where at work which is how Bucks must have felt when the play offs went wrong last season. The manager and the squad have put that well behind them, so should you along with all those silly buggers who have mysteriously disappeared from the HE site in the past fortnight - then you might actually ENJOY being a Torquay United fan a bit more! Actually Merse. Upper Volta changed its name to Burkina Faso in 1985. Time to update that altas of yours.
