The right back I believe to be Bucks' target has today signed for another club "on trial". That's not to say he would not be amenable to an offer from the Gulls.................as long as he remains where he is "non contract" He's been on trial elsewhere without signing and is out of contract, and left his previous club having rejected their terms in the summer. NB: I stress the right back "I believe" it to be!

Merse can't do that Rob, but you were with me the other night and was able to know where I was going, like I have said, action is being taken to try and resolve the problem positions on the pitch, If that does happen, then that Is why I think we need to wait and see the results.

He mentioned it was who 'he' thought, not hinting at anything privileged. Hence my question, Dave. I'm glad we're looking at a right back, if that is the case. This isn't helping what andygulls and JimD have highlighted.

I fully agree Rob, what do I do? say nothing or try and tell you in a cryptic way, hoping you will get my drift. When things are told to one, It often comes with words of what you must not say, so I hope you can understand that.

Without knowing the identity, it looks pretty underwhelming news really. Either he has been missed and he has gone somewhere else, OR he (finally) does arrive, not having played first team football since (I am guessing) the end of last season, and if he's not been able to agree terms with his old club, or settle and accept a new offer with another...too expensive or too mercenary?
I hope Buckle has a "Plan B".

i do not think we will see any new players and i think dave r was only told that so he could get some hope back into the fans on here. if that is what happened i don't think its was very fair to him i won't hold my breath.
why did buckle say on the last day the window was open we would not be getting any new players so why should i now believe that now we will be.

I dont think he knows what a plan B is. and given the transfer record of PB since the departure of a certain Mr Milton is there any reason to have an expectation that any new targets would be more succesful than, Wroe, DSane, Thompson, Adams, Banim and Brough?

It's a fair point - it was after all only a couple of weeks ago that we were told that "the squad is good enough". Personally I don't believe it is but Paul Buckle presumably still does. If we lose on Saturday (and how many of us genuinely believe we won't) how many more defeats are the board (let alone the paying fans) going to give him before they take action? It's all very well bringing in new players next week (if they are indeed even considering allowing Paul Buckle to do that) but a defeat on Saturday, could mean that he has just one game left to save himself? I really think that if we should lose the next two - then Buckle will be gone. We probably have what is on paper our toughest game of the whole season on Saturday, its very unfortunate for Buckle that it has turned out that way - how he must wish we were travelling to the likes of Lewes instead! The point I am trying to make is that, for me at least, it's a little disappointing that Paul Buckle hasn't been able to bring one or two players in on loan this week, to at least give himself a chance of getting a result on Saturday and taking some of the pressure off himself. Because he hasn't (assuming nothing happens tomorrow) I cannot see anything other than a comfortable win for Cambridge - which just has the effect of cranking up the pressure another notch next week. For me, the squad isn't actually strong enough to even think of challenging for a play off spot - we are, at best, a mid table side. I suppose if the board feel that that is a reasonable outcome at the end of this season then fair enough, but I believe they were expecting a lot better this season and certainly most fans were.

crispy as I was writing my reply you edited your post ;D ;D so I have had to start again It was the part about time again, anyway, I also think Dart makes a good point Buckle said the squad was good enough, It that was his honest view, then maybe It came from above that we need to get a proper right back, the other player was a forward. All the fans can see what is needed and so must the board, I know two players do not make a team, but getting a good right back and maybe a forward who could score, may have helped the team to start getting results. I do not think there will be any news on Friday, so It will be up to those he picks, to play their part in helping him stay as manager.I do not know how long the board would continue to support Buckle, I know Sean was upset, that fans should think 12 games would be a point to see how the season was going, so maybe they would support him past 12 games. It will be the fans who may just play a big part, If the worst was to happen and we get nothing from the next two games, I think most would be then calling for his head and will vote with their feet. Anything can happen, maybe another lucky win on Saturday, but as on Sunday, some would see a win as just another get out of jail card and still believe his time would be over sooner rather than later.

I believe its only a matter of time before we will hear news about a new right back coming to the club. I do know that much work has been put in and I have a feeling targets that are available are being pursued. Would be great to have that position sorted out for the rest of the season. heres hoping for some good news soon.

I notice Lindegaard didn't make the squad for Cheltenham yesterday. New management there.
