A member of Boots bar staff is saying that the pub will revert to being directly run by the Football Club from the end of this week.

If it does I think that can only be good news, I never ever agreed with it being run, by an outside landlord. I know Bateson felt it was less hassle having to run it and he knew what money would be coming in each week.
It has to have made profit, my view always was that profit from Boots should have been going into the club. I don't drink very often, so any changes will not effect me, but I would hope more fans would use it, If they knew the profits were going into the club and maybe even the team.

It would be a good move and a good investment by the club.
Millsy who runs the bar currently is a top bloke ad it would be a shame if he sells but maybe everything has its price.

It may be that the Lease is up Joe? I do not know but if that Is the case, then the club would simply not need to renew it and just take over the running of boots again.

I spoke to someone on Sunday who said as he was leaving Boots to watch the match the landlord said it would probably be his last match there.
Hopefully the club have done the decent thing and made him an offer for his lease rather than carry on what appeared to be an attempt to force him out!

I would agree there Jerry, If they had tried to force him out, I think that should not be the way the club goes about doing things.I do not know how long a lease the club would have given him, but I would not think it would be too many years.

If that is the case forevertufc the offer must have been one that he was happy with, If not he would not have agreed it. Good luck to him in what ever he does next.

Well old Merse seems to know, so I think what you have said is true and sure we will here some news soon. As you go in there, is it done up nice? I only ask as I would think If it was not, then the club would then be looking to spend some money on improvements.

Its a long time since I have been in there, while I can't say how long ago I do remember my night in there. It was a Saturday night and I went to see an act I had been wanting to see for a while, he was never down this way to much. Mind you His act must be all washed up now, because of who he took Off.
I have never seen such a great entrance of any performer before, It went dark, those indoor fireworks going off, some great music and then from nowhere, he was standing at the mike and singing. It was a Gary Glitter act, to be fair he really was good and at the time when Glitter, was still popular, before what he was up to became known.

Hopefully the club have done the decent thing and made him an offer for his lease rather than carry on what appeared to be an attempt to force him out! That is the question that I ask Jerry. It is quite clear that some "unfortunate" happenings have made it just about impossible to run that business successfully. I wonder if all the "Health and Safety" issues will now be miraculously resolved. I am sure that the old landlord would have been in a poor position to negotiate, given the damage that has been done to his trade. I hope that the board has not taken advantage of that situation and have treated him fairly. We all want the club to move forward, but i hope that the ethical instincts of the board members that I know have over-ruled any purely commercial instincts on this occasion. That would be "the Boyce way".

Seems It is not all cut and dry yet and that talks have been going on for some while. As I said I hope the guy gets paid the proper going rate.
I was talking to a fan yesterday, who always went in Boots at half time, he says all his mates are still not happy they can no longer do that. He said some have stopped going to games now, because of It. If the club takes over Boots, will be interesting to see what happens, I think If somehow fans could then start to go In at halftime, sure some will feel the club has not conducted itself very well.

Please forgive me if I am and wrong and of course it is down to personnal choice, but why should not being able to have a pint at half time stop some people from going to watch and support their football team, surely people can go an hour and three quarters without an alcoholic drink?!! They have time to drink before and after the match. If they can't it seems to me that they have got their priorities wrong somewhere!
