I would not expect Carlisle to be fit for this game and I can’t see Paul Buckle making too many changes from the team that started against Port Vale, the only question mark maybe about who will go in goal for us as Poke I feel has been carrying an injury for over a month now.
It’s a game we are probably expected to lose and we can only hope the Rotherham players come out expecting it to be an easy three points and we can turn that into an advantage for us. Despite only getting two points from our last 24, we have never been thrashed by any team and have come so close to winning games and only have our self to blame for not closing out games we have been winning.
All games are winnable and so is this one, its important we do not conceded and soft early goals and the longer we can keep the game at nil nil, the great the chance we might nick the odd goal that will give us the much needed three points

Our best chance to beat this lot is to play to our strengths and attack, we need to keep the ball in their half and bury them in pressure, if we sit back and let them come so we can defend we will be in trouble. I feel a point away to them will be acceptable because they are not crap far from it, at home they are strong. 4-4-1-1 would suit us or 4-5-1 so we have lots of work happening in mid-field, holding a high line and keeping possession in their half would be my way of approaching this.

I think one of those formations will be used. The pitch isnt great up there and snow given so Stevens and Benyon on the bench and have players out there who are bigger and stronger.
I would go for Bevan in goal as Poke is obviously not right at the moment. Camara left back with Branston and Ellis centre halves and Smith at right back.
Zebs on left midfield with Wroe and Mansell in the middle and Jake Thompson on the right. Then have Ty Thompson just in front of them with Ashley Barnes.
Ive picked Ellis as he is right footed and by all accounts Charnock doesnt look so comfortable on the right side. If however Branston/Charnock are to play then why not swap them over, Branston has enough experience to play on the right.
Zebs on the left also helps out Camara if he has trouble with anyone and of course the formation can be changed to 4-4-2 if needed.
After last nights results we really need a point here and think we can get one, about time we had a late goal gaining us points rather than losing them.

Remember the debate about playing players in the correct positions at the start of the season, well Branston therefore must play on the left and a right footer (Mark Ellis) on the right, can`t get any simpler than that really, and we also have to stop playing centre backs at right back as well, we have a very good right back, two very good centre backs (a left and right footer), a couple of left backs, why is it so difficult to sort out, we have cover for all the positions at the back so I think we need to start playing the best players for the appropriate positions, last time we did that we went on an unbeaten run! Rocket science it is not! This is not aimed at anyone in particular except maybe the bloke who picks the team! |

* What a shame teams dont run out anymore as well. All this walking out virtually hand in hand crap and then shaking hands with the opposition, all complete nonsense.
Didnt Thompson get booked in the first minute the other day? Shaking hands beforehand in act of fair play didnt work then did it?

I don`t know how I could dissagree with players positions mate it`s glaringly obvious to even a blind person that you play a player were he plays best, and all this walking out muck is a bit namby pamby as well, it did help the atmosphere when they ran out to a pumped up crowd, I blame the bloody lefties and political correct brigades but then again I blame them for everything anyway!  |

This is a 3am game for me and i hope to be awake for it. As long as the global cyber terace are there.
We've wasted so many opps for 3 points recently i'm not hopeful, but you never know. You only have to look at Hereford to see that a few wins takes you out of the danger zone. If only we'd grabbed a couple of wins we'd be sitting pretty in mid-table. Everything crossed for this one.

Right thats work finished for me for the week. Day off tomorrow and travelling up north to the delights of the Don Valley Stadium ...now to get the thermals , gloves, flasks, skis etc out  |

I think you'll be spot on with that line up, rjd. Sky Sports has it that Poke will be out tonight and if Charnock's knee is doubtful, as per .com, that's our eleven.
