Give people the freedom to run their own lives independent of gov't interference. Scrap the top heavy welfare based unaffordable economic timebomb. Allow the free market to work and innovation will follow..................... make laws for Britain in Britain not socailist/progressive run europe.  So says one of the "we" who optes to live abroad and not pay his tax in this country whilst able to claim his right to vote for "us" So says one of the "we" who tells us we live in a rotten society that he wouldn't touch with a barge pole. So says one of the "we" who promotes a free market that also allows exploitation and those who fall by the wayside to grovel in the gutter. He'll be telling us we could all be knocking out replica England shirts for threepence a unit next. ........................and guess where he chose to live? You couldn't make it up could you.

I've paid my taxes in the UK merse, far too much of my income has gone to pay fat pension schemes for gov't employees and you're about to be squeezed alot more. Exploitation? Who's exploiting who? The lazy, welfare coddled, i'm owed a living wasters who refuse to help themselves? The working people being asked to support those too bone idle thro higher taxes to pay the poor little loves their nice welfare cheque? As for grovelling in the gutter, don't make me laugh. You want to see real poverty and exploitation come to asia. Their poverty has been caused by western Bank debt amongst other things. The day i take a lecture from you merse is the day i give up! |

Fat Pension!? I'm a Govt Employee and mine certainly ain't fat.* It's a tired old line that gets trotted out by some of the dumber newspapers et al. Not sure I'm looking forward to working to 67 to pick up the full whack of about £10k a year (I'm hoping it'll be a little more by then obviously!  For the true fat cats look at the bankers gambling with your money and causing your taxes and NIC to rise when they over-step themselves. *Mind you, my belly appears to be expanding on a daily basis at the moment. The real issue for the UK at the moment is that decisions are not being made by the Government on behalf of the citizens of UK plc but for Consultants, bankers and a myriad of lobbyists. Have a little look at the secondary jobs Government ministers have and what Boards they end up on when they leave Govt. I ask you to think about a former Minister who now works as a paid consultant for a certain US-owned company; and decide whether the promise of thousand of pounds consultancy work a year, in the future, influences policy decisions (outsourcing anyone?) whilst holding the reins of power? Why was UK energy allowed to be sold to France? Why is our airspace owned by Spain? Why did we sell Government (i.e. taxpayer owned) buildings to a company based in a tax haven? Why did a firm of Consultants get paid for an 'independant' review of PFI when that company already earns £millions a year out of setting up PFI schemes? Now, it appears that corruption and fraud could have been rife under previous Govts, so I'm not just decrying the current one. Time for a Change? Time for a Hung Parliament! Then we may get MPs representing the will of their constituents for once, rather than their Party or big business. (all of the above represents my personal view and no offence is meant to any individuals) |

With very few exceptions (armed forces, diplomatic corps etc) I would ban non-domiciles from voting in UK elections. Or else compel them to vote for meaningless single-issue also-rans |

The electorate then returned Liberal Democrat Adrian Saunders ~ a fine local politician with a healthy record as a caring and assiduous local councillor........ a historic occasion as he was the very first non Tory ever to represent the Bay in Parliament. Until then you could probably have managed to return a Paignton Beach Donkey to Parliament as long as it sported a blue rosette on it's harness, so dumbly did the local populace vote for those who had exploited them so badly and for so long. I was going to stay clear of all this but Merse is guilty of historical inaccuracy and (as some may have noticed ), I don't like leaving historical inaccuracies uncorrected. One time TUFC Vice-President Frederick Layland-Barratt MP (see page 11 of Mike Holgate's book) was a Liberal. Lord John Russell - the architect of the groundbreaking Great Reform Act of 1832 - was a Whig MP for Devon and then South Devon in the days before Torquay (later Torbay) had a seat to itself. Torbay has a great tradition of Liberalism. |

I was going to stay clear of all this but Merse is guilty of historical inaccuracy and (as some may have noticed ), I don't like leaving historical inaccuracies uncorrected. One time TUFC Vice-President Frederick Layland-Barratt MP (see page 11 of Mike Holgate's book) was a Liberal. A condom allows for inflation, halts production, destroys the next generation, protects a bunch of pr1cks and gives you a sense of security while you are actually being f***ed Tory ****!
