If i'm pushed i would say the remake of War of the Worlds was better than the original just. The effects told the story better. But i'm a sucker for the old movies they seem to be more evocative.
Have they remade The Day of the Triffids yet?

Have they remade The Day of the Triffids yet? Yes they have mate, don`t bother with it though as it is set darker than the X-Files and you can`t actually see a lot, you`d be better off watching the telly switched off and just listening to the audio via a tape or C.D. Thoroughly disappointed with it!

The Shining was a great film with Jack N and the remake was pants! The best films I`ve watched are actually books I`ve read and used my brain as the cinema and director, example Lord Of The Rings, the films were great but they just didn`t do for me what the books did! If that makes any sense, I know what I mean!

I know what you mean Oz. I love getting so engrossed in a good book that there could be war going on around me and i wouldn't register it.
The Lord Of The Rings films were just brilliant. I've watched them all (The Two Towers is the best imo) loads of times and i never tire of them. I can't find fault with the casting, script or direction. Gollum was just as i imagined if not better. Andy Circus was incredible. In fact i can feel a LOTR fest stirring!!
Out here you can get just about any film for peanuts, obviously bootleg. But one film i;ve never been able to get a copy of is To Kill a Mocking Bird. Can't find it anywhere even Pirate Bay.

Ah yes, The Shining. Good film. Also One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest. I do enjoy a good Tarantino, as well. Even Death Proof!!

Haven't watched Slumdog yet Ospel but do fancy it - as good as the hype? Don't fancy the Benjamin Button one as the concept doesn't grab me. I keep thinking of Mork and Mindy where his race get smaller (younger) as they get older. Memento, yes, class film, who would have thought from his Neighbours(?) background he would be such a good actor. How about LA Confidential? Cracking book too - as usual better than the film. Also, In Bruges, good acting again - brutal - what about the guts spilling out as the guy hit the ground from the church steeple!? Made me quite queasy.
Want to add the Aliens films to the list - which is the best in posters' opinions? Think 2 for me.

Slumdog wasn't a hype overhere. The movie started a bit slowly but got better and better. Guy Pearce did a bood job but looking at his other films he did not really 'make' it. LA Confidential, never seen that one. In Bruges, no action but filmed at a beautiful location and the dialogues are brilliant!

Mad Max, Mad Max 2 but definitely NOT Mad Max 3, F**ken yanks spoil everthing! Chopper Harris and Romper Stomper were good Aussie flicks as well where as Murial's Wedding was one of the worst films ever! Totally loved the film Australia but then that was always going to be predictable of me!
