A fully deserved win for us yesterday. Even though everything went against us. Windup clowns like Billy Turley have no place in football. The guy is a mediocre keeper at best and a A grade knobhead, like most of his colleagues. I've rarely seen a opposition team display as little "togetherness" as this mob did. It took James C**tstable 85 mins to get motivated enough to go looking for the ball. Lewis Haldane didn't fancy the game one bit after Muzzie Carayol knocked him into an advertising board. He carried on "gamely" for 30 mins before deciding the weather conditions weren't condusive to prolonging his bottled tan. For a good 50 minutes of this game it was ten committed footballers against 11 cheats plus that jellyfish of a referee with his hairy armed assistant sidekick who was just as stupid as the ref was! An excellent 2nd half performamce. Special mentions go to a rock solid defence with Woods and Hodges having far to much know, Mansell for putting in superb performance. Wroe and Hargreaves showed Oxford what a midfield performance should be about and Sills battled away upfront against two centre halves intent on fouling him. Benyon looked dangerous and the second goal was top class. Oxford got what they deserved. Absolutely nothing. Spot on Chris. Didn't you feel that because Turley was so much of a wind up merchant that it made the win even more pleasing. When Benyons goal went in, it was difficult to know who to watch, Benyon and the boys celebrating (Benyon needs to practice his celebrations a bit more, that did look a bit of a girlie skip) *, or the sad, lonely, dejected Turley having to pick the ball out of the net whilst knowing his team were out of the cup, beaten by 10 men, but with the ref so far up Oxford's arse that i'm sure he shared the coach back with them. * to be fair he can do whatever he wants he if keeps scoring goals like that.

In the build up to that incident the ref played on when Sills was fouled with left Benyon with about 4 defenders back covering with no one else in support.
I was screaming that there was no advantaged to be gained. But credit to Benyon he done triffic (redknappesce) was fouled and has you said the ref blew immediately. Had he waited just a split second because that was all that was needed it would have brought the house down.
In the end we got what we deserved.
I'm glad Turley did play. He does deserved to be in football and what ever he does is to the detriment of his own team. Constantly winding up the opposition players and crowd. Barracking his own players and ref decisions all game long sure did add the cup atmosphere yesterday and the players desire to stick one up him where it hurts, in the back of the net.

I started off a thread on one of the Non League forums titled... Message to Billy Turley - cheats never prosper.
Stunningly, no one (not even the more extreme Oxford fans on there) has attempted to defend the clown, one actually admitting that he is a bit of a lady's breast!!

Chris H's observations about Oxford offer an interesting insight into a completely baffling team. Normally a combination of ability and attitude would probably do well in this - and most - leagues but this lot are inept at achieving the desired balance and, in the process, their own worst enemies. After the 1-1 draw earlier in the season, I expected Oxford to put a run together and be challenging for the play-offs. Wrong again and I think yesterday showed evidence as to why that isn't happening.
Billy Turley is, at the very least, something of an enigma (one six-letter word that hasn't yet been used to describe him). Quite possibly one of the best-paid players in the BSP (surely the best-paid keeper anyway) and, on the face of it, one of those players you hate but would like to see play for you. Hmm, not sure about that now - wonder how Oxford fans feel? Conned about him and a fair few other things I'd imagine.
As suggested on another thread, this was one of our most significant victories of the season. We seem to have a fantastic ability to win different types of games against different types of teams which, in turn, require different types of performance. Yesterday was one of those games when I'm cheering every tackle, looking at the watch constantly and half-wishing I did something less stressful on a Saturday afternoon. After eighty minutes, I really felt life would be much simpler if I suddenly left to take a walk along Babbacombe Downs to grab a cup of tea at the Cliff Railway cafe. Then, when Benyon got the second, there was nowhere better to be. I'm not sure what I'll remember most about the goal - the execution or the exquisite timing.
Yesterday - together with the stress and relief - had a sense of occasion about it. Our suporters were "into the game" (in a different way to recent home games) and, to an extent, you can thank - and in some instances blame - the Oxford supporters for this. It's an earlier point, reheated I suppose, but there's no particular problem with the football in this league it's just the lack of allure. We need occasions. Technically we should have greater appreciation for the ruthlessly efficient victories against teams which bring a couple of dozen fans. These are just the sort of games - and occasions - we fail to appreciate at the time. But yesterday was, ultimately, how we Philistines like our football.
Yes, I like the creative flair players, the ones who can switch play and change games. I appreciate these when I watch Torquay United -and when I see games as a neutral. But I also like the Lee Mansells of this world, the type you most appreciate over a period of time. There's something about the lad that reminds me of a certain Kevin Hill...

I know I could not believe it when they said it was Dsanes 5th red card of the season, when you think how many games we have played, he would have been banned for most of them

It is very possible that Liam Dickinson will not be able to play in the game at all - he is only on loan at Blackpool from Derby, and given their situation he may be stopped from playing in cup games. Will try and find out contract details when I get back to work on Sunday.

Liam Dickinson is only on a 28 day Emergency Loan. This agreement runs out on 1st Jan. So he will only be a threat if Blackpool manage to extend his loan. Even if they do I can't see Derby allowing him to play in the FA Cup for a divisional rival. Speaking of which we have our own FA Cup loan quandry to sort out ourselves.
