After our two league games over the Christmas period and winning the away game and somehow how losing the home game, we now have to face Blackpool, in round three of the FA cup.
A game that would be really good to win, getting into round four would give the club a big financial boost to help compensate for some low gates we have had. Plus we could get really lucky and draw a big top team, while I would love to see the likes of Man U at Plainmoor, I wonder if playing them away would be better for the club, as surly it would be such a bigger pay day.
The players will have had a good rest since Sundays game and I would expect the same line up, the only change that may be made, is Dsane starting if he has recovered from the flu.
A game that the players and fans will be up for and a game that is very winnable, teams so often raise their game when playing a team from a higher division.

Is Bamber playing for them! This fixture always brings back those Wembley memories, and also the FA cup tie at Bloomfield road around the same time. We lost that game but I remember looking around at the place and feeling quite sorry for their fans at the state of their ground, and that was saying something considering the state of Plainmoor back then!

I've had a nagging feeling for some time that we will win this one.
One day all the chances we squander week after week have to hit the back of the net.
If it's this saturday we will win!
Wait a minute, it will be the same team that couldn't score against kiddy last game................i'm off to the bookies to win myself a few bob!

Hopefully the pressure will be off our shot-shy striker in a game we are not expected to win.

According to the Blackpool site 5 of their loan players are returning to their parent clubs and they might only have 2 fit strikers available for Saturday.
2-1 win for us looks a sound investment

I am really looking forward to this match but with which I have low to moderate expectations of the result. Wouldn't say the pressure is exactly off as the players still need to perform, fight to retain their place in the side as well as the financial rewards if a traditional FA Cup upset takes place! However, it will be interesting to see how they react to their underdog status.
Agree with Dave about having the same line up apart from Danny giving way to Roscoe. Another option though would be to revert to a 4-5-1 or there abouts line up and bring back Thompson in the middle instead of Green.
A win would certainly surpass the Yeovil game and will take away any financial imperative in progressing through the FA trophy.

Yep, 5 loanees gone. 2 other first-teamers injured and one suspended.
3-0 to them it is then!
(my guess is we'll line up 4-4-1-1)

Which game is the most important, this one or Burton? Nice to think we can get a result on Sat but I have witnessed these matches where players give more than the usual and the resulting important league game performances suffer as a result, something we witnessed last year. Burton, ibelieve will be tougher, but Blackpool, three tiers above us will be expected to role us over. Hard to call if we win both it could be the two most important results of the season. We could of course lose both and realistically that could easily be the case. My guess is an honerable draw on Sat 1-1. and us to end Burtons incredible run on Tuesday by a single goal! Well you have to be optomistic! ;D

Indeed you do Pete hard one to call really, the cup game if we can get the win, simply because of the real money we could make in the forth round. To lose to Burton would not mean our season was over, it would make the chance of automatic promotion seem a lot harder. Still plenty of games to go and you would think Burton has to have a bad patch before the end of the season. Lets hope we just win them both, what a great start to the new year that would be.

From some of the articles I have read recently in the Blackpool local press and other sources, it would appear that the club may have had as many as 8 players on loan at the same time.
Hammill, Hendrie, Kabba, Rehman, Stack, Dickinson, Reid, Gow are the players mentioned in the Blackpool Gazette.
What kind of regulations do they now have in the Football League regarding loan players ? Some of the above may have been season-long arrangements, but I didn't think any club could have that many, short-term or long-, when we were in the League.

Not sure myself stewart, but I'm sure someone will have the answer, I do know the rules are different for season long loans, but I'm sure there is a rule on how many loan players can feature in anyone match. So who knows

You can have more than 5 players on loan at one time but no more than 5 can be part of the matchday squad of 16 (or 18 in the Premier League). There are still maximums for loans per season as well, but not sure of the exact amounts.

One thing we don't want with Blackpool though is a draw. All the way up there with even less hope of winning than we do now! The Burton game: Win lose or draw, it 'aint going to make much difference to us. In my opinion we have already lost out on automatic promotion - we have to somehow win five more games than Burton - it 'aint gonna happen! I think - unless we bring in a few outstanding players - we have just enough gas in the tank to make the play-offs. We all know what we're like in those! Happy New Year

How many points did Exeter make up on us last season?, it is far from impossible. Two loses for Burton in any one week and it will all look different. How's that for PMA ! Happy new year.

No, i'm not Ken whats-his-name! Exeter made up points on a number of teams - ourselves included - not just one team. On top of that it's a team who have won their last ten? games and don't look like changing that form.
