John Hardiker was arrested by the police at his home last month and his contract with FGR was subsequently cancelled with immediate effect today following an interim period of suspension by the club. Monitoring of his immediate future will probably reveal all, but it must have been a flagrant breach of his contractual obligations for them to have immediately suspended him in the first place and knowing what is habitually in contracts regarding unacceptable conduct one could surmise that a breach of law in respect of something that would have rendered him banned from the game anyway has occurred.

Can`t help thinking here we go again.
I want the club to nip these situations in the bud and make an immediate announcement so that all rumour and speculation is put to bed. Failure to do this only leads to the situation festering along and doesn`t show the club up in a good light. It also makes me question the motives and sources of those who post rumours on forums.
I want to see strong managerial skills displayed which tells me that PB is in complete control and has the backing of the board. A manager who doesn`t stand any nonesense ala Fergie and the well publicised run in he had with a centre half he inherited. (sorry forget his name)There was only going to be one outcome. Anything short of that makes me question the man manegement skills of all concerned. I can understand the policy of those who don`t like to make things public. But if the manager & club are acting in the best interests of the club then they should issue a statement. If they don`t it only makes me wonder if they were in the wrong.
I agree with Merse, every horse has its day and if as some have stated Woods day is over then I thank him for his efforts and wish him well regardless of how things may have ended.
No player is bigger than the club and in Ellis, Robertson, Hodges & Todd we have players who can provide us with a solid defence and an attacking threat at set pieces. So if he has gone we move on Utd.
If he hasn`t then 1 or 2 need to look seriously at their sources and timing of posts.

If PB has exercised strong managerial skills, do you think it would help or hinder him if the board issued a statement?

Buster I do not have any motives and I do not put up half the information I do get, what I do put up is done only when I believe it to be true and in my view would not harm the club. Sources? run a forum and you will find everyone has something they want to share with you, I just sort out what I believe and who I trust

oh go away am highly p***** off after today finding out what they did to woodsy ! like you know the in's and out's! A piece of advice.......................love your club, don't get to close to players - they come and go. One day they're your hero the next day they're Exeter City's. By all means maintain acquaintances and even friendships, but don't get drawn into the whys and wherefores of their ongoing relationship with YOUR club but their employer...........it's just part of football and really part of life. Steve Woods will be perfectly at liberty to come out and say his piece once he's got his money....................unless he signs away his right to do so! Like you, I get on very well with Kevin Hill and maintain contact ~ even catch up with him in his new playing career occasionally. But anything that went on between him and the club is his business and theirs, certainly none of mine and really what has happened with Woods is none of yours either!

If PB has exercised strong managerial skills, do you think it would help or hinder him if the board issued a statement? No doubt there will be an announcement on the official website and coverage in the press in due course, but we have no right to expect an employer to divulge private dealings with an employee to any third party. As employers, football clubs are no different than any other company. Because you WANT to know does not give you a RIGHT to know. If your local postman suddenly "disappears" do you reckon you have a right to know why? All you really want is your post to be delivered and life will go on without Steve Woods just as it went on before he came along. YOU are the constant factor in all this, Torquay United is the club you support, they are but one of three or four that the player has played for. So to answer your question, at this very moment I would not feel "the board" making a statement would be of any help or hindrance. As I said, the news will come out in due course if and when something is finalised, but until it is; don't expect anything. I am sure the manager is fed up with being portrayed as some sort of man management deficient by fans who seem to have an axe to grind over certain disruptive players, or ones who want to "swim the other way". Any fool can see the extreme lengths this squad of ours will go to at the end of matches in securing late winners or equalisers and surely it is obvious that this exceptional trait is the result of an extremely good cameraderie within the squad and I for one would not wish to see any concession being made to any one individual who wants to operate outside that parameter.

oh go away am highly p***** off after today finding out what they did to woodsy ! like you know the in's and out's! , You're quite right I don't know the "in's" and "out's". How in christ's name you can post your hysteria and expect us to accept it is beyond me I'm afraid. If you can't divulge the real details, keep it to yourself, its not right to stir up a hornet's nest a day before an important game. Steve Woods has given us good service since he's been here, but as with every football club the club is bigger than the player. Every player has a certain shelf life. I hope he's helped in developing the likes of Robertson and Ellis in the same way as the likes of Vince Overson helped to develop him during his time as a trainee at Stoke City. I'll remember him for his bullet header from a corner at Cheltenham in the promotion season. The exocet like clearance at Root's Hall which sent the crowd diving for cover or even a pre-season friendly at Bideford using his professional footballer influence to make sure the lino gave him every offside decision by shouting at him "get your flag up, you f**king ar$e". The poor lino was too scared not obey him. I'll wish him all the best. I can't remember such hysteria when he was about to be farmed off to Truro earlier in the season. Women are far too irrational to understand football anyway.
