Aussie, have you been sniffing sheepdip?
Issie, i've listened to most games on RD (via t'internet). Then i've read pretty much all the game reports, news and views from the fans that were there. So i rely on the information on games from many sources and then form an opinion. Maybe a detached view allows me to see the wood(s) from the trees and gives me a more objective perspective. Or maybe not. But don't give me any of that not seeing games tosh.
Maybe you and Longie should get together and form a girl band. Issie and Longie, yeah got a ring to it!

I'm sure Dave Thomas looks forward to the day when his editor gives him the green light to sit in foreign climes formulating his 'detached' view of games for readers of the Herald Express.

Well as I got a mention from our great supporter I thought I would get out the deckchair and try and keep on topic. Whilst enjoying some summer sun my mind was recollecting and thinking about this loyalty subject. When following Torquay you make a lot of commitements and was trying to put the whole “experience” onto paper. It starts with the fixture list and constantly monitoring that dates aren’t changed. You then have to plan your diary---apologising about missing parties, invitations a few months hence if you notice a certain game is happening. Leading up to the game you have to make sure the family all know that you will be AWOL (and make sure “her indoors” is OK). The week before with thanks to the internet you start planning on journey,parking,trains,pre-match pint whereabouts etc etc. Also that funds allow for the whole experience. Then the day arrives and you obviously arrive, park, spend and most importantly support the Team. Part of the ritual obviously is being abused somewhere along the day by our opponents (Boston a few years ago had moronic stewards, Oxford away, Altrincham 2 years ago). You always stay to the end and cheer the team off before beginning the journey home either with a warm successful feeling or down at heart wondering why you bothered. The most important part to all this is you support your Team—good or bad, thick or thin and live for moments like a couple of weeks ago. It all seems so worthwhile for those little glimmers of success. To be part of other successful involvement along the way also helps---This Forum, Club being run/organised properly, fantastic iniatives (like Dave with Lewis)….really helps the feel good factor. So you go through all this financial planning, involvement, commitement and loyalty and I am left with one question---why do we have to keep reading negative ramblings from our friend in the East? The enemy from within after all the above has been considered…..and he doesn’t even go!!!!!!!!!!amazing!!! I have said it before I am all for constructive critiscm but this continued ramblings of negativity is ridiculous. Thailand,Bali wherever our great supporter is these days must have something better to do than hammering the keyboard with crap. Leave us in peace enjoying this moment and preparing for the next episode. Thanks for your time guys,

Dave
Having stood beside you on the Popside for a number of years I ignored many of your attacks on PB because I was sure you were taking the pi$$ and trying to wind people up. Sadly, it would appear that you actually believe some of the bollox you have written and simply are not able to admit you got it wrong. Please, as others have said, try to be a little more positive and recognise the fact that some of us are still smiling over what has been achieved by our manager / team. Not sure if you saw the play off final but I will send you a copy when it is available and you will be able to se for yourself how effective Buckle’s plans were and how he totally outmanoeuvred his opposite number.

Aussie if you've ever had Chang beer you will know the effect it has. Probably worse than sheep dip! The famous Changover!
At least England are playing this weekend to pass the time.

Anyone catch Steve Woods in the Sunday Indi and his best Torquay Team?
Kevin Deardon
McGlinchey ** Taylor ** Woods ** Lee Canoville
Kuffour ** Russell ** Fowler ** Bedeau
Graham ** Akinfenwa
Subs:
Hill ** Hockley ** Van Heusden ** Hazell ** Zebroski
Discuss........

Not a bad team on paper, you might need to wind the clock back a bit though!

Anyone catch Steve Woods in the Sunday Indi and his best Torquay Team? Discuss........ The bloke's clearly feckin' deluded including himself for a start. From selecting short arsed overweight Dearden over either of the current two custodians the guy shows he's as much chance of staying in the game as a manager as I have of having a gay relationship with the Pope!

He appears to have forgotten to select the best manager. Obviously He would select the exemplary Mr. P Buckle as his number one!

Is Woods trying to have a dig by saying that our promotion team of 5 years ago is better than now - (with just the inclusion of Akinfenwa)?! That's as maybe, but what has been acheived now is surely more significant in the history of TUFC? As Merse says, picking Dearden in place of Bevan is mental! Just like Dearden was hopelessly exposed in our League 1 season, so was Woods - time for Woods to get his head down and see if he can get a part-time contract somewhere instead of providing cheap filler in the Janner Indy!

....Cant believe he's picked himself ;D He clearly is somewhat up his own arse! Not one player from this years promotion winning side......Sills not even on the bench Can only think he must have been gutted to miss out on "Player of the year" for the previous 7 seasons

If you think any of the current team would be have made it into the promotion team under Leroy, you are clearly deluded! No comparison. Give me that team now and i would be well happy.
Just because Woods has dared to speak out against your beloved Buckle does not make him the anti-christ ffs! Sills?? Akinenwa was twice the player. Proven goal scorer in the football league. Tim isn't that yet.
The Woods/Taylor partnership, while not perfect, was a very effective unit in the football league. That midfield was full of talent, while not perfect. Graham on fire was arguably one of the most skillfull front men we've ever had. Dearden was agreat keeper, he made one of the best saves i've ever seen from any of our No1s and i've seen a few.
Come on guys, get real.
