First class chart again Andy and apart from the 8th block of ten games, it does show a downward spiral from the start of his management at the club. We can only hope your final chart of the season(please do one ) will see the form and results from the very first ten games repeated, anything less and we may just not be in the play-Offs.

Statistics eh! Another way of looking at it is thus: In the first three blocks of ten (the first thirty games & generally believed to be when we were at the peak of our two Conference seasons) we got a result from 23 of those games and lost seven, which is the same as the last three blocks. So if, in the last 'block' we'd been able to convert three of those draws into wins then a whole new picture emerges. (And I can think of three draws right away that could've/should've gone our way but for bad luck and the rub of the green going against us: Wrexham away and Cambridge and FGR at home.) So in reality the first quarter and the last quarter are a lot closer than we may think.

For goodness sake Budleigh. These are facts not just statistics. What may or may not have happened is an irrelavance and does not count. No one gets promted because you you just failed to get points and only a fool would ignore that a number of our performances through January and February were of insufficient quality to justify confidence in a playoff spot. Interestingly we have a great opportunity to gain both points and momentum through March but your rather twisted view of achievements (or the lack of them) through early 2009 I find mindblowing!

Really? I was having a bit of fun with the figures... lighten up matey!! Compared to the first 30 games of Buckle's reign the last 30 have been fairly comparable, we are six points worse off and that can be put down to a little bad luck. We had scored 66 goals in that first block compared to only 51 in the last block but on the otherside we had conceded 41 in that first 30 games compared to only 28 in the last 30 which means we scored 15 more than we conceded in the first phase compared to 13 more scored than conceded in the last phase. To my way of thinking that shows that, although the emphasise may've changed to a tighter, more defensive set up, the final results tally isn't far off. I would rather not be called 'twisted' thank you very much...

Love sure is in the air tonight I have to agree with Andy on this one, stats do not lie, but as I said in another post, lets hope the next 10 are like the first ten and then we will all be happy. You have to agree he has done a great job making the charts and I 'm looking forward to his next one.

So if you say stats don't lie why are you agreeing with Andy on this one? My point is proven by the stats. We are barely worse off in this last 30 game block of Paul's reign than we were in the first 30 when everyone was praising him. We are only six points worse off and our goal difference is only two off. It is obviously worse, but not that far off to be able to say we are that much different; as I say, three games that could've gone our way would have put us on an even keel. Certainly not enough to damn the man with statistical evidence...

Budleigh, Even if we are to accept as you suggest that we are 'barely worse off', this is clearly worrying in itself. Surely one would hope that as Buckle gained experience results would improve but this has simply not been the case. Indeed, as you have implied, Buckle is failing to pick up points in games which we should be winning and this can not be put down to 'bad luck'. If the manager himself believes this to be a justifiable reason for losing (or at least not winning) football matches then it simply further highlights his shortcomings as a manager; perhaps greater consideration should be placed upon his tactics and his decision-making which has, in my view, been questionable all season. Dan.

What is wrong with you people!! We are in a difficult league with a team and club that 18 months ago was on its knees.. It was taken on by a group of well meaning, but inexperienced, supporters who have turned our fortunes around. A young, rookie manager came in at the same time and in that period has taken us to a thrilling play-off, a Wembley final in the equivalent of the non-league FA cup, has had us on a record breaking run of unbeaten games and we are poised in the play-off places after beating quite possibly the biggest non-league side in history at their own place after they'd been on an unbelievable run of their own? Has everyone forgotton where we were such a short time ago and what we as a club have achieved from the ashes? This is down to the people running the club and the people working for the club including a very good, promising young manager. I would bet that in 5 or 6 years time we will look back on this period as a time when our fortunes changed for the better and that we are in the start of a golden period. I replied to this thread as a bit of fun because I love facts and figures, it was supposed to be a light hearted reply into how we can all see statistics in different ways depending on ones view point.

Lies, damn lies and statistics ;D A statistician is a man who could lie with his head in the oven and his feet in the freezer and say that, on average, he felt quite normal.

ps... to add to my tirade above... how about two seasons of fantastic FA cup thrills, the wonderful win over Yeovil followed this season by a win over a Championship team equalling our best ever run which concluded with a narrow loss to another from the same league who have since proved to be a good, formidable side? I'd say these are fun and exciting times for our club and certainly a lot better than some of the rubbish we've endured over the years; I for one am thoroughly enjoying the ride!
