where are the goals coming from? ...... burton. No matter how badly they play, they have a knack of grinding out results.
As predicted Roy Mac now has them playing boring defensive football. Scraped 1-1 on Saturday and have only just taken the lead against Barrow

2-1 FT with a pathetic 1939 watching. Its one of their better crowds. Although wheeling out Nigel Clough probably added 100 to the gate.

2-1 FT with a pathetic 1939 watching. Good result and a decent gate for them. How many from Barrow, 10 maybe? It's about winning games and they've been doing that for a while now. We've got 20 games to play and 60 points to collect from these games. Win about 16 of them and we could end up as champions with a total of 94 points. We all know that this is probably never going to happen. Games are coming fast from now on and a win tomorrow would be great. Oh and Oxford have decided not to appeal against their points deduction so we don't have to worry about them for a while.

Sounds like Crawley are appealing though - weren't they told their deduction could be doubled if they did?
Oh wouldn't we laugh if Steve Evans came a cropper...again!!

How about Jon Main from AFC Wimbledon? 22 goals in 23 games this season. Hmm.... that's not a bad ratio, is it. My guess is that we couldn't match his wages as AFC are paying others part-time contracts, they get good gates, own their own ground and have a seemingly endless supply of private benefactors willing to dip in to their pockets to live the dream. Fair play to them, though. He was banging them in for fun last season, albeit at a lower level, so I'm sure there will have been parties interested but unable to get their hands on the goods before now. Ref Crawley: I actually think they've got a good argument with the Conference in terms of disparity with the Oxford ruling and the use of the League's discretion. Though my desire for justice to be seen to be done does however stretch to Evans being sent down.

How about Jon Main from AFC Wimbledon? 22 goals in 23 games this season. Jon Main has already been looked at...................before he was ever at Wimbledon he was a Plainmoor trialist during his Tooting & Mitcham days. It's all very well plucking leading scorers at other clubs out of thin air, but in Main's case he's playing for a much better supported club than we are AND on a "London wage" to augment his part time contract, and I would guess he would want an awful lot of money by our standards to come to us as a squad player where the chance to start games would be very limited. That's not being negative, it's being realistic! However, I feel it is also imperative to put faith in the outstanding player that Matt Green has shown himself to be because whilst he is on the pitch the movement and speed of thought he shows enhances our general all round play. Remember too, it wasn't Green who missed the best chances on Saturday. In my opinion it was Dsane, Woods and Hargreaves...................in Dsane's case it was the type of chance he has put away with ease at Crawley and at home to Blackpool for a start; Woods can rarely hit a cow's arse with a banjo; and Hargreaves' isn't sticking 'em away like he used to although this chance was a little further out than many he has put away in the past. I would no sooner leave Green out of the starting lineup in favour of a "poacher" than I would Sills..............I think in our style of play the "poaching" needs to be done by the likes of Carlisle, Dsane, Wroe and Hargreaves in support of the two very able and varied front men we have in Green and Sills; and as mentioned before the two centre backs currently and deservedly in situ are our least prolific of our options in those positions when it comes to converting corners into goals.

Carlisle maybe. Dsane certainly. But to hope for an automatic promotion bid (slim chance, I know) on the back of sufficient quantities of Wroe and Hargreaves poaching is just not viable. Interesting point you make about "no sooner leaving out Sills than Green" as I'm sure those not attuned to the Special One's fine art will be questioning his input should goals not soon be forthcoming. I've already noted it posted that "Sills is due a goal" in the same post as a plea to "keep Green on for the full 90". Eh Dave. For all Green's attributes, he needs to pull the trigger and bag a few, merse. I reckon he might just do that once he's bagged a sitter from a central position. Anything less and we'll be looking over our shoulder at Crawley, Kiddy and Wrexham rather than closing the gap on Histon or doing the nigh on impossible and catching Burton.

Ah so it`s not just me, don`t get me wrong I like the lad and he has responded to critisism by working his socks off but we need goals. Sorry if I sound a bit harsh but I want League football again!
