I’m aware that some people like to have a chat about our loan players, but surely when it comes to a position (ie. having an operation on a knee) and said player becomes about as useful as an ejector seat on a helicopter, isn’t it then time to tell said player that he’s going back to his club? We can then get someone in who isn’t on the physio table for the next six months! It’s probably just me who thinks this way, so feel free to continue! 🐮 I would agree. There is little point in Evans taking up a loanee space if he isn’t going to play until the end of the season.

Also, loanee space is either max number of loanees in match day squad (5) and number of loanees you are allowed in a season so sending him back makes no odds….

It’s not the point that Evans may be back shortly…how long has he been out? Coming back quickly from a knee operation to be clattered by one of the Neanderthal Full Backs of the National League could finish his whole career…so he ain’t gonna be jumping into any tackles! 🧌
As to 5 loan players in a match day squad, I would imagine there are still some good players out there champing at the bit ready to play for ‘good ol’ TUFC’, but can’t, because a fair amount of our loanees are injured and are strolling along Rock Walk chatting up all the ladies.
Our position in the National League reflects this, and if we are able to send these players back, (maybe we can’t) back they should go! So then instead of a crocked Dobbin the Mule (our only option on the bench) coming on in the last twenty minutes to try and terrorise defenders, we can bring on Harold Abrahams instead…the ears at the end are deaf! 👂 👂

I wasn't aware that Evans had a knee operation, thought he sustained broken ribs in the defeat against Maidenhead? By my reckoning, we have him and Smith (not injured) who are not playing plus the 5 who are regularly playing. That's 7 loans in total. In Okoli and Hughes who have have already been and gone, the loan total goes up to 9 and it is only November! It is a precarious position to be in to be reliant on so many transient loan signings. Usually a sign of a poorly recruited squad, a team struggling, and in our case, staring relegation in the face.

I think that’s my error. Corie Andrews had some procedure on his knee. Can’t have been full blown intrusive surgery, must have been keyhole.

As I was listening to our latest defeat at Barnet I thought I would make some calculations.
We currently have 14 points from 20 games after the Barnet defeat.
You typically need 50 points to survive over an entire season of 46 games.
That means we need 36 points from the remaining 26 games.
That is a points to game ratio of 1.38
1.38 points to game ratio would see you comfortably in mid table over an entire season. (1.38 x 46 = 63 points)
Conclusion – Torquay for the remainder of the season will have to perform at least like a mid-table team just to survive!
That is the stark reality already.

I see that both Ness and Smith have gone back to their respective clubs with the latter curtailed by being side, ined due to the number of loanees at the club - linkOn the plus side both Ellis - link and Wearne- link have had their loan spells extended and remain with longer term loanees Goodwin (January) and Evans (all this season).

Sad to see Ness leave...thought he looked useful.

link - Olaf has picked up an injury playing for Dorchester. Pity as just named player of the month there.

☝️ Everything about this guy is odd…Olaf that is.
He’s player of the month, he’s knocking in goals all over the place and yet (injury aside) there is no sign of him returning!
The manager wishes him well, and looks forward to his return…what’s he coming back for his testimonial?
As I say, it’s odd! 🧐

He’s player of the month, he’s knocking in goals all over the place and yet (injury aside) there is no sign of him returning! We presume that there is a recall agreement. FA Regs state: A Player on Long Term Loan may be recalled on any date from the beginning of the Loan until the agreed summer transfer window deadline, provided that the initial 28 days have elapsed, except in the case of a goalkeeper, and within the agreed winter transfer window, except for a goalkeeper or where the Player is to be transferred permanently by the Club (or club) holding his registered contract in each case, subject to the agreement of the loaning Club, the borrowing Club and the Player, which may be pre-agreed in a recall clause in the original Loan agreement.* (Section 6.6.3) It would be nice to think that Torquay United have a pre-set temporary transfer agreement form that automatically includes a recall clause, however there is something nagging away at the back of my mind that makes me suspicious that they don't! Would it be even remotely possible that the club have failed to include a recall clause and therefore aren't permitted to recall him? *I make that seven commas in a single sentence. Who writes this shit?!

Who writes this shit?! The day that the club stopped pay at the turnstile for a match, was the day that nothing the club ever did from that moment could surprise me. The amazing thing about Olaf, is that he actually looks like a football player! You look at some players and think 💭 what the hell is he doing on that pitch? Not Olaf, he looks the part and somewhere deep (very deep) inside him is a footballer…it’s just a case of bloody finding it! 👀

Will Goodwin and Scott Smith both here until January although I can't establish if that is January 1st or January 31st. With news on another site that Cardiff striker James Crole is about to sign with us, I thought it timely to repeat what I found out two months ago: that Goodwin is only here until... well, now really : www.stokecityfc.com/news/2022/july/19/goodwin-links-up-with-torquay/

Crole waiting for international clearance according to the club website. Highly rated.
