Were in a catch 22 sittuation. If you cant build because your best players are constantly leaving then its virtually impossible to build a promotion winning team. If its frustrating for supporters imagine how a manager of Garry's calibre must feel. These are things mostly out of his control we simply do not have the financial clout or status of many of our main rivals to offer long contracts or pay big wages. We have to take a punt at young untried players who have something to prove and dont demand stupid wages then add a few experienced old pros who won't leave at the drop of a hat. In will look forward to see who comes in but doubt there wil be any genuine marquee signings. For certain Garry and his team will have been working tirelessly to get t hi e right quality in through the door but it would be a huge ask to expect a fresh sqaud to be anywhere near the sharpe end.

We are just a mid table Conference team now. A return to the EFL is unlikely anytime soon.

Think I will hold judgement until we see who comes in...but no doubt...losing our best players every season is hardly a recipe for success. Perhaps there is another Hollywood star waiting to buy a NL team.

I think it just serves to show how costly those missed penalties were at Ashton Gate.
We saw how well Sutton did and I think had we gone up it is likely we would not have lost so many players a year ago and I think we would have challenged for a play-off place in League 2. It was therefore inevitable that we would lose our remaining “good” players this time around but I suspect had we been facing a second season in League 2, all of these players would still be with us. Bloody Billy Waters and Matt Buse!!
Now I think the best we can hope for is mid table next year. I don’t expect us to be facing relegation but the sheer magnitude of the rebuild job facing Gary Johnson is huge and he needs to be cut some slack before the usual “experts” start demanding he gets the sack and be replaced by no-mark managers from the Isthmian League. I guess these experts at least, will be happy with the departure of CLE and Little.
I just hope that CLE, Little and Lewis move to the EFL and not Notts County, although I wouldn’t be surprised if CLE ended up at Wrexham.

If Macdonald gets his wish to join an EFL club it's likely to be as back-up to the first choice keeper-is that a better option for him than fist team football at this stage in his career, even if nearer home or for more money?

No real surprises: the ones we wanted to stay left, and the ones we were indifferent about stayed. Where we are going to get a good keeper and good striker from is any bodies guess! 🫣 I’m aware that fans of TUFC don’t like thinking outside of the box, but just a thought from someone who lives continually/continuously (?) outside of that bloody box! We don’t have a keeper (I mean a good-ish one) so why did we let go of that young guy to Wigan? Oh my God…did you see what that strange man on the TFF suggested Merse…oh dear, Merse has fainted! Allegedly, the three good players who left were offered a fair piece of wedge, so time to up the anti and offer the young guy who actually does score goals (but turned our last offer down) a bit more dosh! Oh my God…Merse has fainted again! Will that happen…of course not. The keeper has left (for nowt) and the young forward will continue to score goals LR&C in a lower league, and we will remain also non league, but still…good ol’ TUFC! What will happen is this: we will get a keeper that plays as if he’s a Seal with grease on his hands, and a forward who will trip over his Zimmer Frame every time he’s about to shoot! I’m sure that some of the comments in this post will have traumatised some people, so to put you at your ease…📦

Suddenly, this normally boring part of the season has taken on a whole new meaning for me, awaiting the arrival of the new players. ⛅️
No marquee signings (a slip of the tongue?) because we (TUFC) have to get them as rough diamonds and then turn them into gems it seems. 💎
Cannot wait. 🦭

Wright hit the bar. Buse’s pen was going in until the keeper pulled off a lucky - or miraculous - save , whichever way you look at it. Personally I blame Jake Andrews for refusing to go off when he got injured and we had the momentum. You couldn’t see us loosing in extra time until that break in the play. What could have been 😢. A year on and we’re still talking about it. We probably always will until we win promotion.

So just a goalkeeper, right-back, central defender (who can cover as full-back as well), central midfielder, wide-midfielder ( one of whom should be of the "creative" variety), and three strikers needed (hopefully one's that compliment each other in terms of the different types needed to be effective in this league)
We have plenty of experience with the likes of Moxey, Hall and Lapslie, but it would be good to bring in a mix of seasoned performers at this level and above if possible, together with younger players with potential that can be developed by Johnson and Downes. The talk of "marquee" signing raises expectations, and after the disappointment of last years signings puts more pressure on Johnson to deliver what he's promising.

Have had a few local Aldershot supporting mates tell me tonight that they believe their skipper is on his way to us. Lewis Kinsella. He’s a left back. Thought I’d bung it on here. Might well be agent fuelled nonsense to up his earnings. I did say that we are not Moneybags FC and ours get poached these days as was seen last season with the exits and incomings, as every possibility someone earlier in that food chain decided we are ‘moneybags’, so therefore we are who might pinch their better players. As opposed to the Club’s who do splash the cash. He’s a decent player, though. More here on the subject www.shotsweb.co.uk/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=54063&sid=9554c9004ddb2860decf0850d822a48a link - he has just confirmed leaving Aldershot so will be looking out to see if those rumours are correct.

Some glowing farewells to the fella above, (and not just the normal gumph when a player leaves) so if we can keep him off the sick bench we could have a good player. How many times have our players turned up for a match and don’t seem to be arsed, so this is exactly the type of player we need…only time will tell.
Also, I would imagine this fella would be looking at a fair wedge, and with a previous statement from GJ saying that the three who left (you know who they are) were offered extremely good contracts (for TUFC anyway) it seems that some money has returned to the club. In the words of Ken Dodd…‘let’s forgive and forget!’ So for yet another season, we have to thank Sharkey for pumping yet more of his honestly earned money into the club, and go down on our knees and praise the fact that he chose to save our little club when there are so many other clubs out there on the edge of the abyss.
