Bottom of the league. ..one point. ..and another home defeat. ..no manager. ..SURELY THINGS CAN ONLY GET BETTER! Optimism? Whatever next! Optimism now equates to somehow scrambling a point at Woking though I must say I'm not particularly optimistic!

Alan Shearer just said on the BBC footy program that a manager should not be sacked after 3 games! There you have it straight from the arse's mouth!

Rumours are that Ronnie Moore may be in the frame - by all accounts a proper manager - could something positive be about to happen?

As far as I am aware the transfer window closes on Thursday. As the new man isn´t in place yet this are getting a bit tight for signing any new players!

I have no idea why they keep on repeating this. Their non-reporting GI's propensity never to build anything is a chosen position on their part, but the repeated tosh that a transfer window applies almost beggars belief.

But does that mean we can only sign players within the national league or former league players out of contract, once the English transfer window closes? Being old I think the previous system was way better than the current 2-window system. No we can sign whoever we like. The EFL transfer window only prevents their clubs from signing players, there is no restriction in movement in the opposite direction.

Surprised this is dragging out as long as it is. Ronnie Moore, touted as Nicholson's likely successor may just be having second thoughts after the weekends latest debacle. Any prospective manager worth his salt will want reassurances that he will have funds to bolster a threadbare under performing squad. Does he really want the hassle and risk his reputation?
Surely things need to start rolling if we are to see an upturn in fortunes though when things get desperate like they have in recent weeks even a new management set up a few signings are not guaranteed to change things. When the rot sets in and result patterns start to form its tough to reverse the harm done to player confidence. Seen it so many times at this club and others.

Getting a little worrying with the lack of news and length of time - will there be an appointment soon?

I would expect somebody to be appointed by the weekend although Herrera will probably still be in charge for the chester game. I don't know if this is so but it is what I would expect. According to Alan merson on the btpir site three perspective candidates were at the Woking game but none of them answered to the name of Ronnie.

Kicking Kev out after less than a handful of games served the Ownership's immediate problem of getting a number of influential critics off their back. Being able to come to the door and, to misquote Maggie, proclaim: 'Nico is no longer manager; just rejoice in that news' might have been enough to herald some street parties in the London area, but then Harrop and Co then had to ask themselves 'Erm...so what do we do now ?'. Besides which I think they've been caught out by just how much the decision to jettison Kev after a week and a half has p*ssed off the players.
The buzzing irritant of the unrelenting requests to sack Nico have been halted, but the way and the timing of that brings about a whole heap of collateral damage....almost all of which falls onto those whose decision it was to pull the trigger, and it's them who will have to create a different situation more to their liking. Meanwhile those who agitated for the action, sit back and observe the mess like the rest of us. Some probably among those now stating they'll boycott Plainmoor as the results haven't improved, and others not having yet sobered up from the lengthy 'Nico's Gone' celebration bender they'd had planned for the best part of two years.
Harrop & Co surely HAVE to appoint someone this week. And the person they want must be in a fairly strong bargaining position if he's going to agree to take on the club in it's current position, with a bunch of either injured or thoroughly narked off players. Will it be Riviera Ronnie ? So far G.I, for quite understandable reasons, have decided to be supporter opinion led, and so will feel obligated to find someone with experience, and ideally who's rarely visited Devon before.
Ronnie Moore isn't short of contacts in the game, but then neither was Alan Knill, seemingly with 95% of them in the north of England, and players he knew about or wanted demanding an arm and a leg if they were going to relocate to the South West. Marcus Bignot I could see appealing to Harrop and Co, but not necessarily to the existing group of players..... and surely there's not the intention to fund wholesale changes and paying up contracts ? Mark Yates ? If Yates was willing to take the job would you bother interviewing others, or using up a further two weeks before issuing him with a TUFC tracksuit ?
Possibly all inaccurate speculation as I've no idea who Geoff Harrop has been speaking to or what he's expecting. But King Kev's executioners have made a pretty uncomfortable bed for themselves at Plainmoor, and it will be interesting to see who they can eventually persuade to lie in it with them.

Credit to Merse, who I thought would have kept this under his hat, but who this morning has revealed on BTPIR, further evidence that you don't just lose the highly respected King Kev by kicking him out before his group of new players have had time to learn each others names, but you also totally dispirit the very people who you'll have to rely on to win points for you this season. Merse: 'As I left the stand at Woking I was listening to someone with a family connection to one of that team saying just how much the decision to jettison Nicholson after a week and a half has demoralised and dismayed the players'
Celebrating Kev's dismissal, combined with attacking, denigrating and ridiculing the players (who will be well aware of this) doesn't seem to have been a positive motivational tool, although we've stuck loyally by it, in fact even intensifying it over the past fortnight. Interesting times not only from a football perspective, but also for any student of Management practice, as they observe the fall out from the actions of Harrop, Rich and Co, and the resultant negative effect on one particular and vital section of the clubs employees. Now of course, it also falls to them to engage someone else to sort out the mess. Also reading elsewhere across the media, the too good to be true option of Mark Yates seems to have slipped out of the frame altogether. The ex Premier League candidate surely holds no water as a serious contender, as Harrop is on record as parroting the crowd pleasing 'Experience' line. So what chance does anyone who hasn't already celebrated their 60th birthday stand ? Cox at a mere strip of a lad at 45,would appear to have youth against him. I don't mind listening to matches if he's in charge on the radio, but travelling on a cold winter's day, and paying to watch ??...not sure I'd volunteer for that again. Mickey Adams is still sub60, but in his defence can claim more managerial experience than a far older man. Or will it be one of a clutch of old timers, led by Money, Moore etc ? Never a dull moment at Plainmoor #SustainableManagement #ClimbingInTheWrongDirection

So far G.I, for quite understandable reasons, have decided to be supporter opinion led. That made me chuckle. I think it was a full 48 hours after "Our Survey Said" no to a new ground that Osborne & Co. started talking about one again. Following up with the new stadium by 2020 bollocks. AJ seems the biggest critic of our owner over the last couple of weeks, though, so maybe I'll leave that stage to him for now. Today's HE narrows it down to Paul Cox, Mickey Adams, Ronnie Moore and Richard Money. Guy Henderson has labelled today decision day and DT has said he expects Robbie Herrera to be leading the side against Chester on Saturday, so maybe we'll hear more today. Harrop is on record saying they want experience. The four listed by the HE certainly have that. I do hope we have our new manger in situ by Saturday. We could do with not giving more points to some of the other struggling sides sharpish and, if anything, it would appear our performances have been even worse in the last three matches under Herrera.
