Well, they could always ask Robin Stubbs to step in and give his opinion on where these supposedly better players are going wrong. After all, although those of us who are old enough to remember will agree that Eric Webber was a really good manager, it was actually Stubbs who masterminded the tactics on the pitch between 1963 and the promotion year of 1966. I know that he is now 76 and football is completely different (sadly), but he has probably forgotten more of how to play the game than most of the managers of the club since then have known.

Recent discussion about whether or not Wayne Rooney is an England legend. ..but certainly no doubt Robin Stubbs is a Torquay legend. I cannot think of a better player who has worn a Torquay shirt. Hope he is well. He gave supporters my age so many fond memories. Footnote. ..same era haven't seen many players who head the ball better than Jim Fryatt.

Welcome back Dan - I am sure he will not disappoint us. On another note - just after the great Robin Stubbs era, John Rudge was an excellent header of the ball and perhaps a little underrated?

John Rudge was a top striker. Not that big physically but was canny footballer who knew where the back of the net was. Stubbsies successors had an awful lot to live up to though I remember beings so disapointed with one or two of his replacements, John Rowlands and David Tearse come to mind but Rudgey did ok and went on to become a pretty well respected manager at Port Vale.

Totally agree. ..John Rudge was a very good player and definitely underrated. However while Rudge was very good in the air Jim Fryatt was better in my opinion.

So the next manager of TUFC is going to be Any news. Nobody seems to have a clue on this one, which is unusual, because normally somebody has a sniff of who it is! Shit, not even the Divine Being has come up with a name! Yes, Rudge was quite a good striker, whereas Rowlands was so tall he just stood there and the balls bounced off his head and went in the net! It's been said many times...but Stubbs was the best!

Nobody seems to have a clue on this one.... Indeed, and that would include the club hierarchy I would suggest. Despite assurances that the search for Kev's replacement is underway, I suspect that Robbie is being given some latitude to see how things pan out. If the result is similar to Leicester and Shakespeare last season, that would be a real billy bonus. Did you mean Brucie Bonus? In today's Mail on line, there is an article about Brucie and his bit on the side Anthea Redfern! In it, he is saying, he told her to get rid of HER boyfriend at the time...I wonder who that was?!

Sir Robin is well and attends games regularly. He is happy to reminisce about the good old days. Pop into the Gulls' Nest before or after the game for a chat - he is usually sat at the table by the patio doors out onto the Family Stand.

Quick to release Kev, slow to recruit. FFS, no plan A, B, C or D. Get a boss in asap, Robbie will do job, pick your best 11 and get the bench sorted. Ok I get that his experience outside the club is? Is it worth a punt, well we're bottom of the league under different circumstances maybe.
