stig123 That's possible, although given the chronic injury situation I think Nico would also have found it difficult to rack up the wins just now. However, if you take tonight's game in isolation, would Nico have thought 'Well I know every detail of Brett Williams strengths and weaknesses, with that advance knowledge I need to show that we can at least stop him, even if one of the other 10 Bromley players get a goal or two against us' If Dave Hedges had watched and written reports on every minute of William's displays this season, it still wouldn't match the encyclopedic knowledge our current Acting Manager must already have stored in his brain about Williams, gathered from the whole of last season working with him. This result either speeds up the new Managerial appointment, or else will have made the earmarked candidate decide to demand an extra £10,000 a year in addition to what he'd initially asked for, thereby prolonging negotiations  . |

Which can only have worked in his favour . I see there's already speculation that it'll be a job swap, with Nico taking over at Bath. |

Oh that's right, I forgot, KN has no responsibility for the current shambles. There are plenty of teams in this league with smaller budgets who signed players who are fit for purpose and able to perform at this level. The 'No budget' argument is flawed. |

There were question marks over the fitness of a number of the signings before the season even started, with the exception of Higgins I don't think any of them were first team regulars last season. |

COMETH THE MAN, COMETH THE OWERS Heading For The Top ! - Gary Owers, soon to be leading The Gulls to glory. So it seems that all we have to do now is wait for the official unveiling of Gary Owers as our new team manager. The care taken in making the right appointment was evident as Geoff Harrop and Clarke Osborne steadfastly refused to be rushed. Having expertly assessed the situation we must back their judgement that spending too much on a big name replacement for King Kev would not be the best use of our limited resources. Instead they've concluded that going with the lesser known but equally talented Gary Owers makes more sense, thereby keeping more money back to be spent on strengthening the team. Of immediate concern to Gary will be the Gulls defence. You could well say that it was 'Open All Owers' again last night, as even the lazy and pedestrian Brett Williams was able to bag himself a hat-trick against us. Our poor form and poor results have given every indication that they could be sustainable, until Christmas at least, if changes were not made. There'll be no easy or quick fix, particularly given our horrendous injury list, but I'm sure Gulls fans will give Gary time to make steady improvements, as they also commend Clarke and Geoff on this shrewd managerial appointment. #GOYA

So it's going to be Gary Owers then? To be honest, probably not a bad shout. Seems a good coach with experience at both NL and FL level if the write-up on the OS is correct. Of course, it will all depend on the level of support he gets from GH and GI but as far as the pitch side of things goes, I'm confident the fitness, tactics and player attitude can be raised a level.

Its difficult, in fact almost impossible to be optimistic these days. This appointment smacks a bit of "last resort" and desperation though anyone holding their hand up for this job needs to be applauded. I don't foresee any immediate change in our fortunes mind, the loseing psychology is already ingrained. This guy will be inheriting a squad devoid of confidence, belief and well short of quality in some areas. Hes a brave man and would imagine down the preferred choice list of Harrop and Hedges the bigger names more than likely walking away when they saw what they had to deal with and offered little to correct the deficiencies. For the supporters it will feel like another stab in the back but we have to give the man or men a chance to show us what their made of and pray they can have the desired effect. The way the management situation has been left to fester over the last month though has done plenty of damage. The more cynical may even suggest its been an intentional ploy - a little bit of Harrop getting his own back on those who claim to know him and all about his eating habits and devious intentions for the football club. I haven't a clue where it all derives from as nothing has ever been substantiated or whether there is any truth in it but playground name calling seems pretty juvenile to me. As far as the new coaching team is concerned they have nothing to lose, we have basically bottomed out. Hopefully they can bring a little footballing nous to the club as its been missing for a good few seasons. Even though we are only ten games in the die has been set with a huge gap already to a safe position I cannot see how we can suddenly find consistent promotion form to pull us out of the swamp. It remains an utterly depressing situation and I have no idea if Owers and Kuhl have a plan in place to reverse this awful sequence. Will they be issuing a rallying cry?  Time will tell but I bet they think they've won the Lottery inheriting this squad.  |
