Jon, Would you be kind enough to remind me who are the directors of TUAFC Ltd. I'm sure I have seen it somewhere on the forums. As Aussie has said, Clarke Osborne is the sole director of TUAFC Ltd. Can a new club take up the remaining 63 year lease if TUAFC fail viz. a phoenix club - AFC Torquay or just Torquay. The lease is with the limited company so would terminate if that company folded. A new company would have to try to negotiate a new lease - it could not just take over the old one as if nothing had happened. This is what has happened at Hereford, Chester and other places.

If TUFC goes under, you don't honestly believe there will be sufficient interest in forming a new club, Jon? The death of the club will attract no more than a glance of acknowledgement, if at all, from the vast majority of the disinterested population of Torbay. When this club folds, there'll be no reincarnation of any kind. We can't find new money for the existing club so where do you propose it would come from for any replacement fledgling club? You do talk some nonsense Florida. You don't need the majority of the population of Torbay turning up every week to run a football club. Our average gate this season is 1,879. We are rock bottom of the National League and have been consistently and relentlessly crap on the field for five years now. Our support is absolutely magnificent and extremely passionate about the club. For every one person that turns up every week there are hundreds who have a deep affection for the football club. It is not apathy or lack of interest that has us where we are. There are a handful of people who can hang their heads in shame, but don't go blaming lack of support or lack of interest. Of course, if you are one of those idiots who think it is not worth bothering having a club unless you aspire to be in the Premier League, then you are right that there will never be enough interest in Torbay to fund that kind of club. But nor is there enough interest in Newport, Aldershot, Hereford, Halifax, Chester, Darlington or Maidstone. Are their current incarnations not worth bothering with? Do you think that, if the current limited company goes bust, nobody will ever kick a football in Torquay again? Or nobody will ever watch a football match in Torquay again? Of course they will. And if you focus that interest on one club rather than dissipating it over many, you will have easily enough interest to run a club above parks level. That's where the ground come in. A club identifying itself as a spiritual continuation and playing at Plainmoor could aspire to National League status every bit as much as Newport, Aldershot, Hereford, Halifax, Chester, Darlington or Maidstone could. A club stuck out at say Coach Road, Newton Abbot would probably only aspire to rivaling Tiverton and Taunton. A club at any other ground in Torquay would aspire to winning the South Devon League and the Herald Cup every season. To build a new ground in Torquay that could allow National League football would need the fans to raise many millions of pounds. I cannot ever see that happening. Our situation now is far far less hopeful than it would have been without Phillips and Balson's treachery, but it is far far more hopeful than it would be if we ever let the freehold fall into the hands of property developers.

You do talk some nonsense Florida. True but it does give something to read in the mornings now that newspapers are 48 hours out of date before they are published!

My question remains: "Where will that money come from?" The answer, I fear, will be that it won't be forthcoming and any impetus will rapidly evaporate, leaving the Bay bereft of a 'proper' football club. Any phoenix club would of course drop down several levels where costs are much lower and an attempt at a revival along the lines of say Aldershot could be made using a portion of our historic crowd base and the ground owned by the council. A new lease could have a rent free period, not that the current level is overly prohibitive. The financial legacy of our club is likely to be one of debt and something that can be done without.

Sadly the club is in the hands of a bunch of leeches that have no desire to develop the club and are merely going through the motions whilst seeking to realise their wider a no doubt greedy aspirations.

I see that there has been a rethink on the design of the new stadium at Swindon speeds - maybe it will even be built now! Will study details over the weekend.... link

It will be built?? It's 75% built already. Just the stands to be put in. The stadium complex has been rebuilt.

I’m sure Swindon Robins will be delighted with your reassurance, if that is what you are saying. They had their farewell meeting there in 2016 and have had so many false dawns, so I doubt they will be counting their chickens just yet. 75% built already? What?? The site looks exactly the same as it has been for years. Consistent, at least, with the ‘plan’ to move to a different site a few yards away. And it is on the existing blueprint that the prefabs are now allegedly destined. Not the site proposed over 10 years ago and seemingly recently ditched. The only change presently at Blunsdon or whatever you choose to call it is that there is shitloads of housing nearby. Presumably all with reasonable drainage, as I’ve not read anything to the contrary. The anti supporter pro new stadia content of your posts will be a refreshing change for AJ, but don’t come on here and lie about Swindon. How many new stadia builds has Clarke Osborne presided over, iamagull? Swindon won’t now be a new stadium either, if as is now suggested it will be in the same place with a few prefabs lobbed on the site. Osborne even previously stated that he would close speedway at Swindon until public opinion and local authority involvement ‘aligned’ against that. What happened to the Robins’ local rivals in Reading. Do you have a stock line about that and Bristol’s IKEA you’d like to enlighten us with? Rovers might have managed 10 years in Bath, but they’re a darn sight bigger than TUFC.

I agree with Rob‘s post which is why there is so little trust out there about delivering a new stadium for TUFC but this project would be a lot more complex and need a much greater capacity. Some of the Swindon Speedway fans may be uneasy about their existing site being demolished first before the prefabs are erected but if the delay is only two weeks of racing then this could be a result as their stadium cannot go on forever....

I see things are getting interesting in a mind-boggling sort of way for the new Swindon stadium development with solicitors raising concerns about the proposed plans to redevelop on the existing site as opposed to move the stadium. The problem with this change of course is that there are now new houses only metres away from the existing stadium with the poor people buying at risk of seeing loss of value in their new homes and even the housebuilder could suffer as a result!
There seems to be a gigantic conflict-of-interest where the person with responsibility for redeveloping the stadium is also party to developing the nearby housing and keeping both parties happy may well end up being an impossible task with all these delays and changes. Could the homeowners have recourse to litigation for nuisance with this change if it proceeds? This could rumble on and I don’t have much hope of those speedway fans seeing the redevelopment any time soon which they have waited on for years while continuing in a dilapidated stadium. I have a sneaking suspicion where this could all end up....
