 Floridagull With no Tuesday night game, it was destined to be a quiet week. The ranting, aimed at making a militant mountain out of a very small molehill, can be given marks for entertainment value if nothing more. Militant Amateur Dramatics only I'm afraid, but it put a smile on our faces, and gave Dave Thomas something to talk about in a lean week . In the near future our Militant mates will be able to pass on their observations on Accountancy or anything else via the Supporters Liaison Officer; I'm sure Clarke will be fascinated. Nor can they, for the moment, ask the head of TUST to take up their issues, as it seems the whole of the TUST Board ran for the hills screaming 'Not bleddy likely' when offered the job'  |

So after all the ranting, is the club for sale or not? "The Herald Express also reported this week that, following their decision to take the Club Shop ‘in house’ in the summer, United is also seeking to take back Plainmoor’s leased-out Boots & Laces pub." Whether for sale or not, there is a drive to reduce the number of sub lease interests within the stadium which would make any redevelopment process easier and that has always been on the agenda. Whether that is for GI to undertake or to make the club more attractive to sell is anyone's guess. Unfortunately I have no confidence that TUFC will come out of any redevelopment process in a better place..... |

These accounts were signed off less than four months ago. How does he think that GI were trying to sell the club "nearly two years ago" when they only bought it ten months ago? Why does he keep repeating that they paid £120,000 for the club when they paid £1? I think the confusion by DT is put better in his latest article "GI bought United less than ten months ago, effectively for the £120,000 which they had lent to the former board under supporter David Phillips." My take on things is that it was a convoluted process. Initially the money was lent in lieu of a sale by July. That did not go through as CO/GI did not proceed due to not being able to get the freehold. I think genuine efforts were made to find alternative buyers but when that did not materialise for various reasons then the club was effectively defaulted to CO/GI for that nominal figure of £1 with obtaining the freehold on the cards for January. Whether that was considered a good outcome by the previous board I have no idea. DT has generally spun positive stories for GI to keep some form of relationship going. |

Those group accounts will likely have been the first indicator to Swindon Robins fans that their promised new pre-fab won't be in place for the start of next season either. Unless that reference needed to be innacurate for accountancy purposes, too? Mind you, they've had 12 years of getting used to that news now. COBB Leaves Every Reader Staggered (COBBLERS) is a well known phenomenon up that way.
Unlike DT, who does for GI that which rjd dispassionately describes, their reporters up there are probably bored of it all by now, having seen all the houses and heard all the guff for years. I see they have finally closed the Reading related company in the year. 8 years after demolition and no replacement.

Go for it. Although they seemed to know about the so called ‘internet rumour’ of factual direct quotation from the accounts lodged by GI and Toklon when getting the ‘Yeah, the accounts thing about disposal was a necessary untruth’ response from Osborne. The HE repeatedly fail to make the slightest reference to each and every failed stadium project promise Osborne has made over the years (Bristol, Reading et al) when repeating the new stadium story, be it by 2020 or the 12th of never. They should consider themselves culpable if history is repeated here should their deliberate failure to properly carry out responsible journalism gleaned by referencing widely available print in the public domain and opting not to pose any proper questioning of it continue ad nauseam. |

There's a cessation notice lodged at Companies House on 2 November 2017. Gaming International no longer has significant control over Riviera Stadium Limited.
There's a notification received the same day that Clarke Anthony Osborne now has significant control of Riviera Stadium Limited. That means the person named directly, or indirectly, holds 75% of the company's shares.

Riviera Stadium Ltd announced its unaudited abridged accounts on 18 Dec 2017. These are made up to 31 March 2017.
The main announcements are that, of 31 March, the company had debtors amounting to £360,000. It also had creditors amounting to £360,000.
There is detail included in the notes to the financial statements as follows:
5. RELATED PARTY DISCLOSURES
Included in debtors is an amount of £360,000 which is due from The Torquay United Association Football Club Limited, the company's subsidiary company, and is unsecured.
Included in creditors is an amount of £360,000 which is due to Gaming International Limited, the company's holding company as at 31 March 2017.
6. ULTIMATE CONTROLLING PARTY
At the balance sheet date the company was a wholly owned subsidiary of Gaming International Limited which is registered in England & Wales. Gaming International Limited is controlled by Toklon Limited which was the ultimate holding company as at 31 March 2017.
Gaming International Limited disposed of its shareholding during September 2017. The company is now under the control of Mr C A Osborne.

In 2 years' time, it won't matter who owns Plainmoor; there'll be no TUFC needing a ground to play at. It is precisely because the Torquay United Association Football Club Limited - the company formed in July 1921 - may cease to exist in the near future that it is absolutely crucial who owns Plainmoor. Torquay United Association Football Club Limited has another 63 years left on its existing lease of Plainmoor - no matter who owns the freehold. As soon as Torquay United Association Football Club Limited ceases to exist, the lease is void and the value of the land soars. Securing Plainmoor for a phoenix club would be challenging if it remains under council ownership - but our friends at Chester and Hereford have proved it can be done. If the freehold falls into the hands of property developers then we can wave goodbye to any chance of professional football continuing in Torquay. We have lost the football club itself due to the treachery of Phillips and Balson. I would imagine Clarke Osborne is surprised at the level of resistance he has met in trying to get the freehold. It hasn't been quite as easy as Phillips and Balson told him it would be. It is important though that we all keep our eye on the ball. We are now in a long phony war after the opening skirmishes, but things will hot up sooner or later. I could scream when I think that three years ago, we had a debt-free club with so much potential. I know that the football on the pitch has been depressing, but I have felt far more pain at the shenanigans that have gone on off the pitch. |

Jon, Would you be kind enough to remind me who are the directors of TUAFC Ltd. I'm sure I have seen it somewhere on the forums. Can a new club take up the remaining 63 year lease if TUAFC fail viz. a phoenix club - AFC Torquay or just Torquay.
