Re postal voting. US map including Eastern State clustering of coronavirus numbers. Michigan (Detroit highest percentages) Wisconsin (Milwaukee highest) , Pennsylvania (Philadelphia highest) and Georgia coronavirus positions in the clustering at the link below”‘Stop that Count’? www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.nytimes.com/interactive/2020/us/coronavirus-us-cases.amp.htmlElsewhere, the crackpot has woken up. Yet to be censure warned at time of post. Numbers of advance requests for Democrat and Republican postal votes announced at 3 million Pennsylvania. 2.6m returned. An odd system but their system. Numbers counted reflect percentage of advance requests per Party. Republicans thankfully starting to turn, if not yet in sufficient public numbers, after Trump’s attacks on democracy yesterday. Up to 20% of their Senators considering delegation sending to Trump or coming out against levels of spurious Trump claims at least heartening. Early doors according to Republican Strategist Alice Stewart on CNN, but hopefully that aspect develops and soon. Interestingly, she felt many of view legal claim at this stage wholly inappropriate where count needs to continue and can be challenged thereafter if there is any basis in any State. 1% rule mentioned, also. Still find it hard envisaging him listening to his Party and not trying to meddle through House of Representatives Electoral College procedure and local and Republican nominee majority Supreme Court while he has public purse to pay for such legal challenge, though. And the country suffering for their while he does. Trump litigates as a tactic throughout his life and gets litigated against. It’s what he does. It works when money talks despite his low overall contested hearing (cf: settlements) success rate in his lifetime.

And there was me thinking this thread would die down after Tuesday! What is clear is that President Trump will not be going quietly into the night.....
Democracy is a precious thing that we must all fight for and while every politician will always fight their corner I feel a line has been crossed that will turn off many even on his own side. The McCain classy concession speech in 2008 has done the rounds on social media and worth listening to if you have not heard before.

Thanks for that, Rob. Such decency and great respect for the office, the nation and it’s history in that speech. A first viewing for me. Incredibly moving stuff at this time. A real must view if it hasn’t been seen before.

Rob But entirely irrelevant to the points of contention in Pennsylvania which were spelled out on this Forum 2 days ago. 2.6 million returned by when ? By the time the Pennsylvania Legislature said they had to be returned by, or according to how the Pennsylvania Supreme Court attempted to change things ? ‘An odd system but their system ?’ By ‘odd’ Rob is surely implying ‘one of dubious legality’. It looks to many that ‘their system’ is not being used, and that instead, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court has imposed an unconstitutional system, hence the legal challenge discussed here 2 days ago. Is that 2.6 million a final total ? and are we conferring legitimacy on the Pennsylvania Supreme Court system that will allow further votes to be ‘returned’ ? What does Rob mean by ‘returned’ ? Is he counting a postmark date on an envelope at a Sorting Office and giving a green light to more and more returns to add to this 2.6 million, or those votes returned to official collection points and polling stations by 8pm on Election Day (Tuesday) as the Pennsylvania Legislature enacted ? Rob Did she explain herself ? Did she give reasons ? If the count continues then I don’t see how you are not at the same time destroying the evidence necessary for a legal challenge thereafter ? Surely the votes not in by 8pm Tuesday need to be kept separate from those that were. How would it even be possible to separate them and know which came in, in which envelopes, with which dated postmark ( and you’ll be aware of undated envelopes, as well as whistleblowers drawing attention to backdated postmarks being applied to envelopes still coming in at certain sorting offices). Continuing the count would surely destroy the whole basis of the challenge on the legality of ‘their system’. How did Alice Stewart or the ‘many’ explain how challenging this ‘thereafter’, while continuing including the votes still rolling in with 3rd November postmarks would not be rendered impossible for any legal investigation to sort out accurately ? While always welcoming Rob’s posts, I feel he’s added heat but virtually no light at all regarding answering the fundamental problems currently making it impossible to view the Voting system and process in Pennsylvania with any confidence that it was conducted fairly or legally. That is what we need, what would put minds at rest, and what would benefit America as a whole. Given the 3 year inquiry into Election interference after 2016, before it was concluded that it didn’t happen, to now brush aside the many seemingly blatant examples of vote rigging in many States as unworthy of proper investigation, when they could be crucial to the outcome of a tight race of such importance, is more than a little surprising, given of course that none of us think for a second it indicates a readiness to accept widespread malpractice as long as it helps deliver the favoured result

Oh my goodness, had a bit of a funny turn last night when I realised Rob and I were actually in agreement on something, I’m ok, I had to have a lie down in a dark room all night but I’m fine!
It is time for me to stand up and admit defeat!
In reality, Old Joe always had the nap hand in this election, taking it very seriously, and never sleeping on the job. At times this thread has been hypnotic, and other times torpid, so it is with a heavy heart that I am now out of it!
Do not wring your hands and wail though, for I will be found elsewhere, on the wonderful Remotely Interested thread for one!

Alpine Joe Correction Re my above post. Seems it was just the 2 years. Having never had a particularly high opinion of America, I'd happily inflict 4 years of President Sleepy Joe and Kampala upon most of them, and Reg might agree that for comedy value alone, a Sleepy Joe and Kampala double act would best serve the Remotely Interested thread. Also without the Senate, it seems that the damage that Sleepy and Kampala could do, would be greatly curtailed. However, the overwhelming point at issue at present is whether we should be turning a blind eye when so much evidence piles up that seems to indicate grossly unfair play ? While I could sit back and revel in this as massive proof of my October 26th post that the system just doesn't function properly a couple of decades into the 21st Century given prevailing modern attitudes, though hopefully something approaching a fair outcome to this 2020 election can be arrived at, while accepting the bigger problem that it's broken beyond repair and that America, and many other places including Britain will see the light and realise they need to organise themselves along different lines.

Twelve years ago the American people were able to choose between two men, both of whom I thought were of great honour and integrity. What the hell happened in the intervening decade and a bit? Biden's weak point is that his only strong point is he isn't Donald Trump, beyond that I'm not sure what he offers. But Trump, Jesus H Christ. The most disturbing factor of this election is that it is even close. How can a educated electorate in a mature democracy seriously support a candidate who is supported by armed protesters openly baring assault rifles on public streets. That is seriously creepy. It used to be asked how did the educated Germans of the 1930s fall under the spell of Adolf hitler , well I think the same thing is playing itself out in the USA today. Even if Biden wins this is not going to go away, Trump will have laid the path for any future charismatic fascistic demi-god to walk down.

Even if Biden wins this is not going to go away, Trump will have laid the path for any future charismatic fascistic demi-god to walk down. That's really well expressed and sums up my deepest feelings precisely. Trump's arrogance and ignorance, in fact his whole personality, if it can be called that, has created an atmosphere across the entire country which embraces violence, division and racism. It's intriguing to wonder in what light his presidency will be viewed when people look back in future decades, and what reasons will be put forward to explain why he is so detested by reasonable people. High on that list will undoubtedly be how he has dismissed the pandemic and mocked and insulted medical experts, in the process putting his re-election ahead of the lives of hundreds of thousands of people. The black community will cite the manner in which he has reacted to the illegal killing of several of their number by police "officers", even tacitly congratulating these licensed murderers for their efficient upholding of law and order. Perhaps people will most remember him for his conspiracy theories and the downright lies which seem to have emerged from his mouth almost every day. I somehow doubt that it will be for anything he has done to improve the economy or foreign relations!

Alpine Joe The Commission he promised to set up in 2016 claiming a fraudulent 6 million votes because Clinton won the overall popular vote, of course, wasn’t something that materialised with any evidence. I’m glad you have narrowed matters down to alleged voter fraud in just Pennsylvania and would hope the increasingly isolated Trump concludes similar before turning it in and leaving office. The Republican strategist Alice Stewart referred to made her point clearly and succinctly and to suggest it may not ‘even be possible’’ to retrace steps is something I’d hope you might think through further before concluding with Trumpish hysteria, AJ. I can’t imagine Republicans are all that impressed with his claims against the Georgia count on the watch of Republican nominated officials. Just a hunch. Good to hear of a few more pushing back on his and his sons’ fruitcakery today. Anyway, has someone put the stable genius’s dummy back in yet. Had a busy day and not checked in to anything other than here and BTPIR since. Still quite moved by that McCain concession speech Rob put up this morning on the US politics front, tbh. Candidates both with serious class back then.

Rob I’m quite willing to go along with your preferences on that, but worry that an attempt to cover too broad a range of vote rigging locations, could then just lead to overload and confusion, given the breadth and extent of what appears to be going on. Despite all that, the incredible shenanigans in Pennsylvania are what really make your eyes pop out in disbelief as you read about it, so my vote would just be to stick with the Pennsylvania story, but don’t feel constrained to the extent of not exposing other important areas where serious attempts to steal the election are every bit as bad. So personally, I’d be happy just continuing the Pennsylvania story, which is actually almost too much in itself …. but now that President Trump has this afternoon commented specifically on Pennsylvania, ….and his words dovetail with my earlier observations, I think we should really follow Pennsylvania through to the end, given that it’s got off to such an exciting start. What hopes of stopping the steal in Pennsylvania ? I’m glad I’m not a betting man, and leave that sort of thing to Reg .

I would have liked to comment on the nonsense contained within the last post, but as usual there is no Quote button, so I just can't be bothered.
I'm sure that Rob will make an even better job than I could of expressing his astonishment that anyone could believe it.

www.bbc.co.uk/news/election-us-2020-54811410Some viral claims fact checked. Limited not just to Pennsylvania - where Democrat stronghold Philadelphia has always been as it happens - so my apologies, but as we know, there was a lot of alt-right nonsense floating about in recent days. It does seem appropriate to stick within those new parameters of claim set by AJ rather than the scattergun ‘I’m not winning there, it’s fraud’ approach, so I’ll abide by that thereafter, subject to TrumperTantrum tweets getting the odd airing for amusement purposes, no doubt. Some may recall AJ previously linked Twitter discussion on one of those fact checked themes. Not as reliable a source as Donald Trump tweets or “AJ’s TFF feed” for real and reliable news is Auntie Beeb in the eyes of some, of course, so must come with that public safety warning ahead of viewing. Thanks for the Trump Twitter meltdown updates, AJ. I’m reliably informed TFF is proud that this particular public information source is continuing at what must be a difficult time for the fruitcake faction of alt-right political commentary, generally, where even ‘Sensible Steve’ Bannon disappears from Tw@tter after his well constructed and informative ‘head on a spike’ analysis.
