Why do I get the feeling, that the next word I put on this thread, will be the word...Shafted! 😶 We were shafted in June 2016 when 17% of the UK population voted to leave the EU. There was just no way back from that! 😉⚽️ Shafted. June 2016, seems a lifetime ago. 17%...didn’t realise it was so many, no wonder we’re still trying to get out of the Basket Case! 😉

June 2016, seems a lifetime ago. Aye, a lot of water has flowed under Bideford bridge since then

A compromise has been made on fishing it seems, so something tells me, the word Shafted will have to be preceded by another word...I’ll give you one God Damn guess what it is! 😡
Mrs Register and I will be having Brexit dinner tomorrow, it’s similar to Xmas dinner, but without Brussels.

So a deal has been done seemingly, and I wait with bated breath for Boris to tell us the details!
If it is as catastrophic as I am expecting, I might nip round to Rob’s bedsit to borrow some glue!

Very pleased with a deal which has got to be a good thing for our economy which cannot continue to take hits. Actually the 30th trade deal that has been negotiated this year and although these are roll overs of existing EU deals have the potential to be fine tuned to suit our economy in a better way.

No need to have anybody reading it Reg as I am sure you will manage to come up with an opinion on it without doing so.....😉🎅

Very insulting depiction of a prime minister who advocated a union with the other European countries as the only way to avoid a 3rd world war. He was right as it has worked so far. Clearly defamatory and I would think actionable 😉

The avoidance of a Third World War was something for Churchill to aim for in his latter years, just as it is for most of the rest of us today. One important step that needs to be taken within the next month is ensuring that sabre rattling Creepy Joe, already surrounding himself with War Hawks, doesn't attain a position of power whereby he can immediately start moving towards conflict with Russia or China. I expect Churchill's desire for the avoidance of future worldwide conflict was quite sincere, and imagine it was just a slight carelessness on Stefano's part that he typed that Churchill 'advocated a union with the other European countries' instead of the more accurate 'union of other European countries' as a contributory means of helping avoid future widespread war. The union that Churchill always advocated, was one of the English speaking peoples, and envisaged this mostly boiling down to a union between the UK and the USA. “This means a special relationship between the British Commonwealth and Empire and the United States of America"..(Not between the United States of Europe and the USA) He goes on to describe ever closer defence collaboration between the USA and the UK. “Eventually there may come – I feel eventually there will come – the principle of common citizenship (between the UK and USA)…If the population of the English speaking Commonwealths be added to that of the US…there will be an overwhelming assurance of security”
link - Churchill's Views On The UK & EuropeMeans of avoidance of a 3rd World War, and achieving an overwhelming assurance of security, meaning pretty much the same thing in this context I'm sure most will agree, but achieved as a result of a union with our English speaking allies of the US, rather than with those of a foreign tongue inhabiting mainland Europe.

As someone in government during both world wars and the resultant damage to this country Churchill as you would expect advocated an Union for Europe but certainly not with the UK. Maybe he is signalling the time of 11pm GMT when we move from the transition arrangement to an arrangement more akin to EEC rules before the EC and then the EU.

Very rude Alpine stating that my description was careless. Anything I type is deliberate and calculated, although I do of course understand that you may not quite grasp it. 😉
Happy New Year and I look forward to more of your amusing anecdotes in 2021.
In all seriousness I do love your posts puts a smile on an old man's face. ⚽️😂

So it’s finally happened, we are out of the Basket Case...better known as the EU!
What a damp squib though, the world hardly knows that it’s happened. The damage, as I have previously mentioned, has been done though. Europe has swept its rubbish across the channel and we will have to pay/suffer for it, which is probably why there was zero fanfare about it.
I look forward with interest to see how it all finally pans out, although I think we all know that 90% of the deal will favour tother side!
I haven’t read the twenty zillion page (it might just as well be) document that has come out and never will, but look forward to giving my opinion on it shortly! 🤭
