 Predictions are far more difficult now that Bercow appears to be the Joker in the pack. Who would bet against him having something up his sleeve ? Not that we know what the amendments will be, but it is important that May's fake Brexit gets voted down by as large a number as possible this evening.It's the equivalent of coming out with a bowl of lentil soup, but with a 'steak and chips' sticker slapped on the side of the bowl, then placing it down in front of you and saying 'Here you are, steak & chips, just like you ordered !'If I'm understanding it right, she then most likely scuttles back to Brussels and comes back with an improved offering in 3 days time. THe EU can scarcely believe the current deal (giving them everything they wanted) even made it to the table, and surely will quite understand it being swept straight off tonight. The EU have plenty of scope to come forward with something considerably better, and then, given the overwhelming number of Remainers in the house, could Tezza then have something to show that might get voted through ? Mind you, who would definitely discount Riviera Macron from voting in favour of the Dogs Breakfast that May will be presenting tonight ? Hopefully he will save Torquay from that embarrassment. Jezza and his vote of confidence ?...a General Election ?....a different Tory leader ?....all would be preferable than May getting her Fake Brexit through, that ties us to the EU more tightly than at present, and with little hope of future escape or independent trade deals. While I can't see any reason to change my prediction as to the eventual outcome of all this, from that that I made before the Referendum, the actual Referendum result was not only a pleasant surprise but of huge importance. Not in the sense that I foresee it securing us genuinely leaving the EU, but in opening the eyes of citizens of the UK to the actual rottenness of the system, and the contempt that those within it have for the electorate. That's why an obvious imposter dressed up as Brexit must be rejected. The people of the UK need to see, in the full light of day, the political class, under instruction from those that control them, destroy Brexit and look them in the face while demonstrating how brazenly they will trample over the people's decision. If Brexit is to be discarded it is vital that it is done in an open and obvious way, which really shows up our politicians in their true colours. Destroying it by hiding their subterfuge by means of palming us off with 'Remain' disguised as Brexit would be the worst of all worlds. If Brexit must die, let them have the decency to openly stab it in the front rather than the back. |

230 majority against the withdrawal agreement was probably at the top end of expectations and a vote of confidence now tabled. DUP will support May so where to next?

The pound is going stratospheric on the markets, fantastic result for the country and people, the only ones that will suffer are the establishment and it's cronies! Great news, wondering what the BBC are going to do now, it's too late for fake news and the people have had enough! I truly hope the BBC is shut down now! No deal, screw the EU and it's attempt to ruin the world with is leftist motives! A day to celebrate, Britain is free of European rule once again! In your face lefties and remoaners!

Brexit is hopefully dying a death now. Hooray for democracy. Fingers crossed all those who refused to accept the Leave take that democracy was a one vote only show in 2016 now get a people’s vote in 2019. The only sensible course now.
As a sensible man tonight said. “If a deal is impossible, and no one wants no deal, then who will finally have the courage to say what the only positive solution is? Watch how those self styled champions of democracy moan at the prospect of a fresh democratic choice.

People are saying that the "Leave" campaigners at the time of the referendum were lying, and it is true that they were probably guilty of extreme exaggeration. But since then leaders in the business world have come up with all of these forecasts of financial disaster and presented them as facts, whereas, as I have said in a previous post, it is all speculation aimed at persuading the public that they are only worried about losing some of their profits. So what will be the options on the voting paper if a second referendum is announced? Will they be "Remain" or "Leave" all over again, as it difficult to see what else they could be? If that does happen, which I seriously doubt, then the whole principle of democracy in this country will be dead and buried for many decades. Your comment "Hooray for democracy" rings pretty hollow, don't you think? |

As stewart indicates, a lot of the 'experts' wheeled out to tell us they've either consulted their crystal ball or read the tea leaves, are doing little more than speculating, but with no real idea what the future may hold. You can draw up your financial charts for the UK based on Obama having told us we'd be at the back of the queue for trade deals, then the US elect someone else who promptly reassures us that he'd give us a lucrative trade deal and elevate us to the front of the queue. 'So what will be the options on the voting paper if a second referendum is announced?' asks stewart. But before considering those options there needs to be an answer provided to the more obvious question that has to take precedence: 'How does a 2nd referendum work? MP's will have shown they refuse to implement referendum results so why would people vote?' With the 230 vote margin of defeat, both Remainer May and Riviera Macron must have cut sorry looking figures tonight as they got that sinking feeling trooping though the lobby to back Fake Brexit, while knowing that the vast majority of MP's had headed in a different direction. However, kudos to Sky News, and confirmation of Rob's wise choice in selecting them as one of his favoured news providers.  A remarkably good prediction from the Sky News people, many hours before the actual vote took place. Rob's comments on events in Parliament are less easy to decipher. On the one hand he appears to be calling for ' a fresh democratic choice', and saying a second referendum is the 'only' sensible course, while simultaneously praising the comments made by Donald Tusk's this evening, who gives short shrift to such democratic ideals and calls instead for the UK Government to just cancel Brexit. An as expected authoritarian standpoint from a top Eurocrat, who would have been just as opposed to the Government giving the public a vote first time round, and if, as we are told, these are the views of a ' sensible man', then as stewart observes, Rob's cry of 'Hooray for democracy', does indeed ring pretty hollow .

Aussie tells me that his careful analysis of the currency markets indicates that the bulk of the days trading was influenced mostly by factors causing the dollar to rise, such as optimism on Wall Street, and the possibility of a solution to the US Government shutdown impasse becoming more likely. He went on to state however, that the timing of the immediate sharp rise in sterling from the very moment that May's overwhelming defeat in the Commons was announced, and as that news filtered out to the markets, was clearly born out by the charts. If it's fake news you're after, he suggested tuning into the BBC on any day of the week, before finishing by wishing the Gulls every success in the big match at Bath on Saturday  .  |

I’ve always said my optimum position is that I wouldn’t mind knowing what the alternative to remain as we are is to be for the People’s Vote Referendum. ie: what the final terms for Leaving would be. It is very tricky when there are negotiations ongoing, but we are told that is all done.Today, we are presented with two stark choices after much debate, negotiation and time since the 2016 plebiscite.
If we are to crash out on March 29, then we now know the final terms of that crashing out and should get cracking on taking back control ASAP. The impact assessments are there that weren’t there in 2016 and the Hard Brexit Millionaire Set are still dusting off their catchy “don’t listen to experts’ line and could talk again about Canada and Norway etc, so where’s the problem for supporters of democracy with a 2019 People’s Vote? Even more so if you feel let down by your politicians. Let your vote on the final terms now be your say.
I think Corbyn will lose the vote of confidence as the Conservatives have got used to having May as a fall guy for now - Bo Jo The Clown was saying she has a mandate to go back and negotiate just 5 minutes after her colossal defeat, albeit with a smirk on his face - and like the DUP, they won’t want another general election, anyway.
