Hard to think a performance could be described as clueless with Mansell in the middle, eh Alpine.
So good that we have Luke Young and Courtney Richards now.
Good to hear Nico still going well. Has his short term contract been extended with them, do we know?

I haven't heard of anything Rob but understand this is due to a lack of funding as opposed to legend Kev still having to prove himself! link

CAPTAIN MANSE LEADS THE PROTESTS
It does seem that it's pot luck regarding the standard of refereeing that can be expected for Conference games, with a considerable divergence between the reasonably competent ones and those who appear to make it up as they go along.
Rovers are still smarting over the penalty given against them at Braintree. The very start of the video more or less covers the three blows inflicted (via the back of the net) to a Braintree player, and it's understood that this has featured in the referee's match report, so we'll see what if any consequences result. Then it was over to Cap'n Manse to make his displeasure known and, in his own words, indicate to the officials that:'you don't know what you're doing'

Oh dear what a sad bunch behind the goal. I think their lot are beginning to realise the gulf in refereeing standards at this level. Pretty damning footage and sure to invoke some sort of punishmnent. Hope BRFC have condemned the actions of these few idiots.

Pretty damning footage and sure to invoke some sort of punishmnent. Hope BRFC have condemned the actions of these few idiots. What a debacle! Think the officials lost control there. Still does not excuse the behaviour of some of the fans though. Interestingly there is a thread on their forum entitled 'Torquay got decent players why couldn't we?' And a fan remarks that the gulf between us and rovers is 'scary'!! On a different subject, I can't add anything new to what has already been said about yesterday's performance. Wonderful and great to have our team putting on a performance like that!

As for Mansell and the officials - fairly typical fare.

i think rovers will be in deep manure for this, shame as most of their fans are loyal and friendly, but they are a club in decline. The pressure is on and off the pitch, mansell honeymoon period over?.He showed us nothing last year as a player, and it looks as he is slowly going back into that mode again. And the powers that be who run this league have a ruthless streak, especially when it comes to punishments, they have no sympathy for clubs in administration or issues like yesterday at braintree, rovers could pay a big price now, points deductions are not what they need at present but it could well happen

Surely the fault lies with Braintree? They were the home team so they are responsible for controlling both sets of fans. Their stewards were very slow to get involved. Scenes like that do nothing to encourage attendances. I doubt anyone was ejected, let alone arrested. Shameful behaviour but unfortunately also very indicative of today's society in general. Hopefully Rovers may look into identifying and banning those fans.

There was an 'infamous' quote attributed to Paul Buckle about Bristol Rovers fans - one which allegedly saw Phil Kite pin him against the wall - but their fans certainly lived up to it in that footage. Mansell moaning at referees was all he did well last season so it is good to see he is living up to form!

It will be interesting to see how those fans get on in the non segregated grounds!
The days of Trollope must seem to be a long time ago - or maybe not.....

Sometimes it isn't immediately obvious what separates a good Captain from a legendary one. But clear evidence was there for all to see at Sincil Bank yesterday. We can envisage the scene: only a couple of minutes to go before the 90 are up, the team haven't won away from home all season and then....you get awarded a penalty ! This is it surely, your first away 3 points of the season, but calamity strikes as your penalty taker misses the spot kick. Heads are down, the glorious late chance thrown away. Rookie Manager Darrell Clarke prepares for the disconsolate walk along the touchline to the dressing rooms. The spirit of the team seemingly broken....that is except for one man: Captain Manse.
Seeing the disappointed looks on the faces of his teammates around him, we can only guess at the Churchillian motivational words that the great captain came up with in the immediate aftermath of that missed penalty, delivered no doubt with an expressive double fist pump gesture to underline the level of effort he was urging his players to display during the inevitable few minutes of injury time before the final whistle blew.
Manse's words had such a profound affect on his team that not only did it spur them on to score a winner during injury time, but also to defend like demons as their Captain's motivational words were still ringing in their ears. Rovers' Assistant Manager, Marcus Stewart, spectating from the sidelines, gave some idea of the effect Manse's late rallying cry had on the Rovers team: “I was a striker back in the day, but when you see defending like that in the last ten seconds – people desperately throwing themselves in front of the ball – it is really inspiring.
“You do not see that sort of thing if your players do not have a desire to win or a togetherness and spirit inside the changing room".
So it's an away win at last for Cap'n Manse and his Pirates. Not quite form that compares with a side such as, for example, Torquay United who seem to have won 3 successive away games in the blink of an eye. However, Rovers have an eminently winnable game on Tuesday evening when Nuneaton visit the Memorial stadium, and that's followed by another home game at the weekend when the visitors are Woking, already softened up by the battering they received at Plainmoor during the week (we hope).
Kev's Harriers taste defeat again, with their inability to score being an understandable concern to their manager. Kidderminster have now slipped back and occupy one of the mid-table places alongside Manse's Rovers. Next Saturday Nico and his new team are scheduled to entertain Grimsby. Surely the least he'll get this week is a phone call from an old friend and teammate telling him the best way to go about beating The Mariners.

'What news of the Cap'n ?', I hear you ask. Well before we check on just how dear old Manse has got his team storming up the table, let's make him take a back seat for once as we travel up to Worcestershire and push Kidderminster Kev to the fore.
After an exhilarating night at 'The Launa', where a home win was secured with a late late long range effort, some minds will have been cast back to the old Plainmoor days, and a last minute exocet flying in courtesy of Nico. Whether it was the 'three nil down - four three up' game from 2 or 3 seasons ago I'm not entirely sure, but those spectacular and important late goals live long in the memory.
Kev's Harriers had lost two on the trot, so last night's 4-0 drubbing of Altrincham was especially welcome. No long range effort from Kev, but a vital assist as his legendary speed and fitness ensured he was still on top of his game even in the 94th minute:
'But substitute Styche rounded off a good evening for the Aggborough outfit, racing onto Nicholson's pass to score his first Harriers goal in the league in the 94th minute. (reports The Kidderminster Shuttle)
It's all very well talking about piledrivers that threaten to break the net, but what about the more subtle skills of the game ? The exquisite touch, the beautifully flighted through ball ? One name synonymous with the finer arts of football is surely that of Cap'n Manse, and last night his majestic skilful play was once more on show to the delight of Rovers fans:
'Taylor pretty much put the outcome beyond all doubt by grabbing the second goal that Rovers’ dominant efforts had deserved by taking Lee Mansell's delicately chipped through ball on his chest before applying a finish a little over three minutes after the teams had re-emerged from the changing rooms'. (The Bristol Post)
Three wins in a row for Cap'n Manse's Pirates, there can't be many teams with a better current record than that, though if we think really hard maybe we could come up with one.
