Mansell scoring for Rovers on Boxing Day is a bet waiting to be placed. It is bound to happen. It may depend on Shell going into labour early

A CHRISTMAS KISS (AND A CHAT) WITH CAP'N MANSE
link - Christmas Cap'n
The link above reveals how much Cap'n Manse is looking forward to the 'surreal' experience of once again playing in front of his many fans down here in Torquay.
“I had a great time there, the majority of the best things that have happened in my career happened at Torquay. I got to a couple of finals, had four play-off campaigns as well" reflects the Cap'n, as he recounts some of the highlights of his fantastic career.
Jovial Cap'n Manse even comments on the 'Christmas kiss' he planted on the lips of Gateshead's reluctant JJ O'Donnell during Friday night's game:
"I got in the car to go home and saw Twitter had lit up and my missus said: 'What the hell were you thinking?'
"But we had a laugh and a joke about it with the lads afterwards. It's another thing to add to the list of daft things I've done on the football pitch."
link - Kissin' Cap'n
If we think of the great love affairs: Taylor & Burton, John & Furnish, Currie & Birchenall, Manse & The Popside etc etc, I think we have to conclude that O'Donnell's reluctance to 'pucker up' means that they won't be re-enacting it every year from now on....unlike some.
When the football magazine Four Four Two asked him what his worst moment in football was, Birchenall said: "Kissing Tony Currie … Every year we have to reenact the kiss and he gets uglier by the year."
And as it's the season of goodwill I'll even relent and provide a Guardian link: Football's first kiss - Bramall Lane, 1975.

Junior No 3 not due for another week and a bit (if I remember rightly) but maybe the excitement of Christmas will bring things forward a bit?

Judas and kissing somewhat go together, don't they? Best wishes to him and his family.
Don't worry, he'll be there with his 30 pieces of Rovers silver on Boxing Day for our adulation. Having already betrayed us with a kiss, of course.

CAP'N MANSE - 'I HAVE A DREAM'
'Manse fever' continues to grip the Bay ahead of the eagerly awaited visit of Plainmoor legend Lee Mansell and his Bristol Rovers team on Boxing Day. The local papers today run a story in which The Cap'n reveals: “My dream season is for us and Torquay to go up" Clearly unable to deny the strong affection he still has for his old club, it is typical of the great sportsman that he is, that Manse's ideal season wouldn't be complete without seeing Torquay United accompanying Rovers back to the Football League.
(Above) Selling like hot cakes. Gulls fans are still eager to snap up all the latest news concerning their legendary former Captain, who still retains a special place in their hearts.

So what now? Where go I?
When you think it's all said and done
Bow down Sell your soul to me I will set you free Pacify your demons
Bow down Surrender unto me Submit infectiously Sanctify your demons
Into abyss You don't exist Cannot resist The Judas kiss
Judas lives recite this vow I've become your new god now

A real Christmas cracker of a game, that eventually finished in an away win. Not that it was easy mind you, Nico's Harriers were trailing twice, yet fought back on each occasion to grab an equaliser, and then with less than 10 minutes remaining they snatched a late winner. Although it was Herbalife supplements rather than roast turkey for Kev's Christmas lunch, he again proved that a 'sell by date' is just a number, as he played a full part in Harriers' fine team display, laying on a goal, and again completed the full 90 minutes.
'We responded well with an equally good goal from Verma following good work from Kevin Nicholson. His run and well flighted cross, from the left, to the far post landed perfectly on Vermas undefended head for him to power his header home beyond the reach of the groping Sam Russell'

With Cap'n Manse's Bristol Rovers also picking up 3 points away from home, it was a Boxing Day 'Legends Max'. It's now only goal difference that's keeping Kev's Harriers outside of the play off zone. Manse's Pirates are in second place, with only Barnet above them.

Meanwhile, on this Torquay United forum the rest of the forum members were keeping their eyes on how Torquay United are doing. Despite the dropped points we are still within touching distance of the play-offs. The one downside is that there are 5 teams directly below us who have games in hand that could take them above us. They still have to win them, which we all know in this league is often easier said than done!
