Now that Oxford are on the hunt fro a new manager, would they they want to try and get Paul Buckle as their next man? Well I think he would be a good target for most BSP clubs and even some div2 clubs, but would Bucks want to leave our club?
I think Oxford would have to pay TUFC compensation if the were able to get Bucks to join them and really could they afford that, there are plenty of others who would not have that problem.
Would Bucks even want to go? well I do know he did not get the support from one person at the club a while back, when he was under some pressure as he failed to get results. I would hope that Bucks would now see that as water under the bridge and would think is best chances of success, will lie with TUFC.
He will want to be a manager at a higher level on day and if he gets us up, then you can be sure clubs will try and tempt him away.First he needs to really prove himself a little more and staying here in my view, he will have a better chance to further his own dreams in management.

Dave don`t get me wrong mate ( I love Bucks being our manager at the moment, love it even more if he gets us up) but he ain`t won anything yet mate. He blew last seasons great start, blew the cup, had a crap start to this season so I`m sorry but I don`t think he is going to be that hot a target just yet!

I cant imagine for one minute tht Bucks would want to join Oxford. They have legacy issues from Kassam and also why would he want to join a club that has gone through managers at a rate of knots!? Bucks' next move will be upwards - at best this move could be described at as 'sideways'. he is driven and I believe that (as any good manager) he continues to learn and improve and is a big part of the improvement of a club that was virtually on it's knees 18 months ago.

Aussie, suggesting that Buckle “blew the Cup” (I assume you mean Vase) is a tad harsh in my book. If you ask me, getting to the final and losing to a team that weren’t much better than us on the day is hardly “blowing it”.
And to go 17 games unbeaten is exceptional at any level of any sport, whether it be the Barclays Premier League, the Devon & Exeter Premier League or the North Cornwall District Netball League*. I have to say that I think if Bucks was available, Oxford would go all out to make him their manager.
As for the original post, I have to agree with ohtobeatplainmoor. Would they want him? I don’t see why not. Would he go there? I don’t see why he would.
* This may not actually exist.

Why Bucks would want to go to Oxford where he knows there will be a lot of expectation put on him from people who wont give him te finance to bring in the right players, fans who expect him to produce immediate results and will start going against him from the moment something bad happens.
Buckle should and I dont see any reason why he should, go to Oxford it is a bad club to go to at the moment and may well damage his career prospects if he dose.

So the rumour mill is in full production! I would not want to go to a club that has no ownership of the ground or it's facillities. Money at Oxford is tighter than here and I'm sure he know's that. However with no loyalty in football who can say what will happen. As for Compton NO!

At least he knows that even when things got a bit rough at the start of the season, he got undivided support from the fans here !!!!!! Hmmmmm

And to go 17 games unbeaten is exceptional at any level of any sport, whether it be the Barclays Premier League, the Devon & Exeter Premier League or the North Cornwall District Netball League Even more impressive is the fact that we have won 14 of those games!! Generally a long unbeaten run tends to include a fair number of draws. Of course Oxford would be interested in Bucks but as most have said, I can't see him wanting all the off field problems that would go with it!

Dave you tease. Anyone join me in a whip round for a one way ticket to Oxford? Dave not a tease, just someone claims that both parties are interested, what ever that means. This person does have a contact at the club and the club is fully aware about it. So is such a leak, if you can call it that, a sprat to catch a mackerel, or a red herring, or just another fisherman's tale.

Just Dave (Southampton Gull) mischief making on .net Dave. It would be high on his "wish list" to see Bucks go. Managing football clubs is a little like riding the surf....................all about riding the right wave at the right time and knowing when to jump off - and THEN you've got to pick the next wave correctly! Bucks' "wave" hasn't lost momentum yet and is unlikely to for some time I would imagine, whilst Oxford are still "ebbing" away and hardly on a roller are they? If I were Bucks and wanted to be looking ahead, I'd be keeping an eye on Argyle where Sturrocks illness puts him on borrowed time and Yeovil where Slades incompetence has the same effect. But that's for the future, he's still riding the "Big Roller" at Plainmoor for now! Merse sorry but I have had to removed the surname you used, as you know, surnames must not be used. Dave R

As a friend of Pauls I would think that he would be flattered that a team with Oxfords potential may be interested in his services. Paul is loyal to his employers and will honour his contract. This is not to say that maybe Torquay United would not be interested in a nice compensation claim. This is not the first time Paul has been linked with another club and with his improving "stock" this will not be the last time either. I have spoken to him tonight and his only concern was the match tonight We are aware where the rumours have come from, maybe they are trying to de stablelise what he is trying to achieve at the club. Paul Buckle will always have full support from all FULL board members.
