Had tickets for David Bowie in '72 but thought £2 was on th expensive side!! I had just moved down here from London in 72 with my parents a couple of months earlier. A couple of us lads were sat on our Raleigh Tomahawk bicycles opposite the Town Hall that afternoon surveying the scene. I seem to remember hundreds of waiting girls all in platform soles of course trailing back down the town as far as the old post office where Tesco is now. Does anyone else remember this or is my memory playing tricks ?

I don't remember the Bowie queue but I do remember hordes of girls at the Princess Theatre and along the front in their tartan waiting for The Bay City Rollers, circa '75. At the time I thought a more ridiculous sight would be hard to find. I never considered that the bell-bottoms I had worn as a 16-year old also fitted that description. In my mind I was the epitome of cool.
