I wasn't going to say it, but as Dave is bringing back the dead to reform The Beatles, I'll throw Nirvana into the ring. I'd give anything to go back to when they were in their prime and see them live. I saw them 3 times, including Norwich arts centre when third on the bill behind Tad and Mudhoney. But to be honest they weren't very good live. Listen to the records and imagine it a bit quicker and a bit out if tune and a fat sweaty bloke breathing down your neck, that's about it. I've had the pleasure of seeing the reformed My Bloody Valentine and Jesus and Mary Chain in the last 12 months and fantastically they didn't let me down. But the ultimate for me would be the Clash.

So who have you seen live? be honest. i may share my list as well This could be a fair old list... Here goes: Green Day Blink-182 Sum41 The Bloodhound Gang Oasis Kaiser Chiefs Foo Fighters Tenacious D New Found Glory Goldfinger 28 Days Later Jurassic 5 Fun Lovin' Criminals I've also been to several festivals, including Reading Festival (1998 - 2001), Leeds Festival (2002 - 2005) and the Isle of Wight Festival (2006). Here, I sampled the delights of: Coldplay The Kooks Marilyn Manson Queens of the Stone Age Eagles of Death Metal Eminem The Prodigy And Daphne & Celeste ;D This is nowhere near the full list, it's just all I can think of off the top of my head. YorkGull: having seen a lot of live Nirvana performances on TV, I have to agree with you about them being a poor live band. I was just so obsessed with the band as a youngster that I would have given anything just to be there. Even if they were awful! Dave Grohl has more than made up for it with his outstanding Foo Fighters live setup.

Mars Volta - Brixton Academy As good as Mars Volta are, they still aren't a patch on At the Drive-in! uk.youtube.com/watch?v=0_lXPrCpSVEThe hair is still impressive though!! I saw that Madonna gig with Technotronic Brett, they were dreadful, worse miming than Britney!! Just to make you jealous Brett I have seen the Manics with and without Richey and Suede with and without Bernard!! Whilst Suede were infinitely better with Bernard it's a harder call with the Manics. Richey was a great performer but I always felt that James Dean Bradfield and Nicky Wire were the real musical talent in the band! (Of course their music is much different without Richey, they were a real "rock band" when he was still a member!) As Jon mentioned, I,along with I'm sure the vast majority of posters, saw the Cheeky Girls in Southend in 2004!!

Jealous now!!
I agree with what you said about the difference before and after Richey. Btw A Design For Life is still awesome
Technotronic were Technocronic... as you said just awful such a weird choice for support even if they were big in 1990.
Funny isnt it... a few of us were in the same place ie Madonna and T'pau all those years ago and here we are now!!!

Jezzer: I saw At The Drive-In and Manic Street Preachers at Reading and they were both superb live. I didn't know anything about ATD-I but they sucked me in with their energetic set. Plus I was waiting for Rage Against the Machine to come on... I've never been a massive MSP fan, but as it was a festival set, they played all their biggest hits. Really enjoyed that gig. Brett: As much as I'd love to admit I paid to see Daphne & Celeste in concert, they were on the Reading Festival line-up a few years ago. I don't know if you remember the story, but they begged the organisers to put them on the bill so that they could meet their hero Eminem. However, everyone's favourite white rapper wasn't allowed to leave the States due to - shock horror - a court injunction and couldn't make the gig. Fair play to D&C though, they still went ahead with it. Even after a bodily fluid-based soaking while miming along to their "hits", they still did the signing tent. This actually drew a bigger crowd than the band that was on the main stage at the time! I was going to slip in the lyrics to U-G-L-Y here, but after your television history it wouldn't make a lot of sense.

My own first concert was Belinda Carlisle way back in the mid 90's LOL!!
Since then it has got little better, but then again I don't exactly have 'brilliant' tastes in music as it seems so many on here do, although there are a couple of bands I've seen others have mentioned....some of these others will make you cringe!
The Bluetones Deacon Blue The Proclaimers Seth Lakeman All American Rejects Jason Mraz (my personal fave) Rufus Wainwright Martha Wainwright The Magic Numbers Ben Folds (and his Five as well) Ed Harcourt Hue And Cry Athlete Level 42 Boy Kill Boy Fountains Of Wayne Matchbox20
Oh, and one for Dave R....
The Orchestra or "Electric Light Orchestra Part II Former Members" including the likes of Mik Kamisnki and Kelly Groucutt.
