yeah i do remember all the D&C stuff in the press, and remember it was at a festival.
I am gonna be honest now as there are 1 or 2 more i saw when i was - my mother took me to Bucks Fizz. I used to have such a thing about Cheryl Baker. Til i moved onto wanting to marry Lynda Day of Press Game (Julia Sawalha)
And i have always had a thing for Sarah Cracknell as westyorkshiregull will testify as he loves her too.

There's some great bands on there Andy. Standouts being the fantastic Bluetones! Only a seeming antipathy towards press coverage stopped them from being much bigger in the BritPop heyday! Wish I'd seen Deacon Blue live, very under-rated band. I only know one Fountains of Wayne track- Stacy's Mom! Sounds a bit like Weezer! Where did you get to see them? DGEP (Denz would be so much simpler! ) : RATM are the band I most regret not having seen live, how were they? Stupid quaestion really as I know they must have been awesome! Have your ears stopped bleeding yet? ;D

I think I'll go for The Housemartins and Joy Division. They were a pretty big part of my youth. I still quite like the Beautiful South but they never had the freshness and the slight edge that the Housemartins had. "London 0, Hull 4" and "the people who grinned themselves to death" are still 2 of my favourite albums and they have such a unique sound.
As for Joy Division. Well I've seen New Order a number of times and they always oblige with a decent smattering of Joy Division songs such as "Love will tear us apart", "Transmission", "She's lost control" (I had a pi$$ed up air guitar moment in Finsbury Park when they played that) and "Novelty". But I always wonder what it would be like to have heard it with Ian Curtis performing.
As for bands I've seen live that I'd like to see again.
Pop Will Eat Itself - Aston Villa Leisure Centre 1994. One of the madest gigs ever. I went with a Welsh bloke from Cymbran from our flat who looked like an anorexic version of Station from Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey. The gig was hijacked by NF skinheads who were looking to stir up trouble with the local asian lads coming to see Muslim Rap band Fundamental who supported along with Senser (the English Rage Against the Machine with the cute girl) and some hypnotic ambient dub ensemble called Ultramarine. I got bruised and battered and then we had to walk home getting lost in a area where people seemed to prefer walking their dogs carrying a baseball bat. Abbotskerswell it wasn't!
James - I was toying with the idea of seeing them in Brixton soon but 30 quid? Not a fecking chance.
Queens of the Stone Age - I saw them in Reading last year and they were truly awful. I would like to see them again just to prove it was a one off.
I am going to see Billy Bragg on Monday at Shephard's Bush. I've been listening to old Billy for so long and I've never seen him live. "Greetings to the new Brunette" is still the best track on "Now that's what I call music 8" ;D

Jerry, Deacon Blue have reformed and are still touring - I only saw them last year. Fountains of Wayne I had the pleasure of seeing at Madison Square Garden in New York, as a lead act for Matchbox20, but as seems to be the way in the good old US of A, the lead act plays for around an hour as well. I've been pretty lucky on my travels seeing gigs in New York a few times, as well as Chicago and a few others. The Chicago one also saw me very close to getting ejected for taking 'illegal photos' Also neglected a few other bands in my other list... The Divine Comedy Duke Special The Feeling (not a proud one that!!) and I am sure there are more.

Not seen any for a good few years but a few that I remember attending, although if true be told remember very little....
Oasis - Westpoint Exeter, had ticket number 3 as my mate queued all night for the tickets!
Echo & The Bunnymen - Bristol
James - Exeter - The best Gig ever I think but actually remember nothing after the opening intro of Come home until the end of the gig and finding only one trainer left on my feet!
Marion - Newquay Fistral beach
Glastonbury - 1997 - Supergrass, Chemical Brothers, Radiohead, Primal Scream in the dance tent!
Glastonbury - 1998 - Primal Scream, Pulp, Robbie Williams, Blur, Ian Brown (wish i had seen the Stone Roses!), Portishead and loads more i am sure!
Will add more when the re-enter the old foggy brain!

DGEP (Denz would be so much simpler! ) : RATM are the band I most regret not having seen live, how were they? Stupid quaestion really as I know they must have been awesome! Have your ears stopped bleeding yet? ;D I quite enjoyed that FoW album. It was nice to just sit and chill out too. Stacey's Mom spoiled it in my opinion. Weezer are absolutely amazing. I've still never seen them live. I'm really hoping that they'll tour soon, what with the (brilliant) new album and all. Denz would be simpler, but I fancied a new name for a new forum. Rage were unbelievable. My ears are indeed still bleeding! ;D Queens of the Stone Age - I saw them in Reading last year and they were truly awful. I saw them at Reading a few years back and I was disappointed. They played a 45 minute set which consisted of some of their big hits, some bad covers and a 15 minute instrumental! Well done Josh, you can strum the guitar. NOW PLAY SOME SONGS! The Chicago one also saw me very close to getting ejected for taking 'illegal photos' I was kicked out of a Green Day gig at Old Trafford for crowd surfing once. Thankfully, I managed to blag my way back in. That would have been devastating.

First gig was Mighty Lemon Drops at Norwich Waterfront, must be 20 years ago. Second was Tanita Tikaram at the great hall in Exeter. Not so proud of that one...
Best live acts I've seen - The Wedding Present - have seen them dozens of times, Pulp - saw all of the His and Hers UK tour and every tour they did since. The afore mentioned My Bloody Valentine who were like nothing else and I don't believe will ever be topped. Primal Scream on a good day. Gallon Drunk were always entertaining. Spiritualized particularly acoustically - will never forget the girl who drove us the first time to see them and fell asleep in the 'pungent' atmosphere. God I nearly forget Belle and Sebastian who have improved (the live act) immeasurably over time. Saw Nick Cave for the first time last week and he was superb.
I've done a few festivals in my time too - Reading 89-92, Phoenix 93, Glastonbury 94 & 04 and Leeds this year. Seeing the likes of the Pogues, New Order doing Technique live, Johnny Cash, James Brown, Metallica and the marvellous Billy Bragg. Mr Hayes you're going to love him - get him to do walk away renee... he always changes the words to suit the time.

Here goes with my list - its a long one but I am VERY old!
First gig was Status Quo - Torquay Town Hall 1973 - thought I'd done permanent damage to my hearing!
Queen at Paignton Festival Hall 1974
Bad Company, Big Country, Blondie, Boomtown Rats, Crowded House (x2), Dire Straits, Dylan, Peter Gabriel, David Gilmour, Guillemots (x3 including Carnglaze caves at Liskeard last month - awesome).
The Jam, Jethro Tull, Elton, Manics (x2), Frankie Miller, Christy Moore, Van Morrison (5 or 6), Pink Floyd (5 including Earls Court 1994 my best concert ever).
Ramones (x4 - every one fantastic)
Runrig, Show of Hands (5 + next Sunday at Exeter), Simple Minds, Steel Pulse, Storeys, Suede (x3), Third World, U2 (x3), Roger Waters, Neil Young (x2 including the first day of my honeymoon!).
Saw Springsteen at Cardiff in June this year - he had been top of my 'must see' list for a long time and exceeded all expectations.
Numerous other 'forgotten' acts and support to the above, local bands and tribute bands. Never done a festival though but feel that I should.....
Must see.....Tom Waits. Must see again.....Neil Young
Finally, not a great fan of live albums but recently got Okonokos by My Morning Jacket which is wonderful.

Got my wish when the original line up of OMD reformed last year and have seen them live 4 times since. Think Pink Floyd would really be the icing on the cake for me.

I was at the Oasis gig at Westpoint too. Me three! I remember it very well. One of the lads I went with lost a trainer while jumping around. We waited for the end of the gig and there it was, sitting there all lonely in the middle of the floor. As he went to pick it up, Noel Gallagher came out and shouted something that neither of us heard. We just stood there gazing with our jaws dropped as NG smiled to himself and exited the stage. Good memories.

Chris, I also hope your QOTSA experience was a one off! I havent seen them live, though I'd love to. I've listened to their live stuff for ages and watched them on Jools and countless other live shows, and they've been brilliant. I'd be gutted if I actually got to see them and they were poor. Mind you, just to stand there and stare at Josh would be enough for me!
