Possibly a welcome break from league action gives Ling a chance to reassess his options in the squad. Also with three central midfield players out on Saturday and the other two nursing injuries in the run up to the game it was never going to be easy but this game has been mooted as the comeback match for Lathrope which would be a major boost to our fortunes. I can see Cruise, McKenzie and Thompson all starting this one but if Ling is serious about winning this tie then Rene just has to start. This is a rare home fixture recently in this competition being the first at Plainmoor for a good few years! Prices have been halved for seating at any rate to try and tempt the faithful. As for Yeovil, they started the season like an express train, topping league 1 before going on a losing streak that unfortunately was arrested on Saturday. Whether that affects the quality of the side that they put out is anyone's guess but we are certainly due a run in this cup. Last time we met was in the FA Cup back in 2007 where we ran out surprising 4-1 victors with a certain Danny Stevens getting onto the score sheet! They have visited once or twice in PSFs since then and my recollection is that we have acquitted ourselves reasonably well.

prices havent been halved rob, they want 5 quid for kids a one pound reduction, not good enough i normally take 3 which will cost 25 quid including myself, not willing to pay that for a rather meaningless competition in my eyes. I actually dont care too much about the result of this one,our league form needs sorting out more than an emphasis on winning this tie

I actually dont care too much about the result of this one,our league form needs sorting out more than an emphasis on winning this tie A Tuesday night game in a cup competition that many fans feel is meaningless, one wonders if the club has got the pricing right for this game. I do fear it’s going to be a wet and clod old night here in the Bay tomorrow evening and that is sure to play a part in reducing numbers. On the one hand are many younger fans going to be able to attend a mid week match? They will have school tomorrow and they do still do homework these days don’t they? My own personal thoughts are that the club really should have done a quid for a kid night for this fixture; it sure would have encouraged a few more families to attend the game. What I do find sad is the way this competition is now viewed by so many fans, when it was first started I’m sure it was not seen the way it is today. Back then it was seen as a chance for a club like ours to play at Wembley and we did and what a wonderful day it was. No we did not win that day but did get a brand new Sherpa Van bus with the club logos on etc for the club to use. I wonder what happened to that van in the end, does anyone on here know? Maybe as our club has played at Wembley more times than the two other Devon clubs, playing at Wembley no longer feels so special to some fans, but at the end of the day the way I look at it, there is a trophy at stake at the end of it and are we likely to stand a chance of winning any other cups? I would expect Yeovil to play a weaker side than they would in a normal league match and if that is the case, then this game becomes even more winnable. The danger for us having to play this game is we can’t afford right now, to lose anymore first team players through injury and so I do expect Martin Ling to play some of our fringe players as having as many players fit for our next league game, is far more important. The club might not even break even tonight money wise, but there is some good money to be earned in the latter stages of this competition and so for me it may not be such a meaningless competition after all.

Is the rain (which I understand, is in for the day) likely to scupper tonights match?

If its raining in Torbay as heavy as it is in Tiverton right now the ground could be in danger of being swepped away. Forget half price tickets might need to offer free entry to get anyone in the ground tonight.

This is the point when some prat comes online and says the weather is gloriously hot in Lanzarote or Madeira. I heard just the same on Radio Devon the other night.
Blue skies in Sheffield, mind, and every chance of seeing the world's longest standing fixture tonight.
Other than that played out in a square in Florence naturally.

No blue skys here Nick. Now in Exeter and the rain is now much harder. Im driving on roads that never in the past have had problems with surface water that are now like rivers and lakes. if this keeps up the game could well be called off.

www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/weather/forecast/The rain had eased off a hour or two ago but heavy drizzle again. Looks like it is slowly going to peter out as the afternoon progresses and possibly dry for most of the match. All depends on how the pitch copes I suppose....

I've been out and about all morning to Tavistock, Liskeard, Plymouth, and now back home in Ivybridge and have seen no rain at all. It's not sunny - but it's not raining. We could always move the game to Millbay Park. Probably be big enough for the numbers attending!

I'm disappointed as I was going to take the Mrs to the carvery beforehand tonight but probably gives everyone effected by this bug in the squad more time to get over it. The pitch would have taken a hammering tonight as well!
